  1. You can request an extension cord be added to the special services list from your PCC or TA. It's a no charge addition. Like @RuthCR said, it's safer to bring your own.
  2. My niece is looking at a verandah quad on the Nieuw Statendam. I was trying to find a photo of where the upper berth is, but struck out. Anybody happen to have one?
  3. Thanks for your help! Of course, now I'm going to have to explain what Club Orange is, so maybe I should just say, "Nope, you don't want a stateroom there." 😉
  4. There are quite a few Cat H (obstructed because of being on the Promenade Deck 3) cabins that look to be below the galley. Or at least a large mystery area in front of the dining room. We have a neighbor who's considering one & asked about the noise. There are guest rooms below, but what about noise from above? They kind of like the ones 3 or 4 rooms behind the starboard, middle stairs. I know this is a pretty random, specific question, but it sorts seems like if it's not in HAL CC's wheelhouse, no one would know.
  5. How long is the entire cruise, and how long is each segment? There's only a $100 difference between 10 & 15 days and another $100 between 15 & 20.
  6. A steakhouse meal is all about the sides. On land, we like to have a party of 4 or 6 just so we can sample all the sides. They're generally quite a bit larger than the PG versions.
  7. It's an ounce. It really depends on how much you like caviar. Two people could split it. (Not us two people, but it would be fine.)
  8. But it was an improved white screen, right? 😮
  9. The waiters & wine stewards are rewarded for selling wine packages. I have no idea what or how they're rewarded, just that they are. We've often run into a favorite beverage server from a previous cruise who was selling wine packages in the Lido on embarkation day. (You may be shocked to hear that we are pretty friendly with our beverage department pals.) They've all told us that they get something for selling packages, but we never pressed to find out what.
  10. I can only see the 7 day packages right now because that's what we have booked. Laundry (wash, dry and fold) is $59.50. Unlimited pressing is $28. HAL laundry's heavy starch warns the cockles of my heart.
  11. If you roll the dirty clothes, you can fit more. Also, look at your booking and check the price of unlimited laundry. You can include optional pressing and is generally an excellent value.
  12. What is this leftover wine of which you speak? 🤔 (In all seriousness, I would have sworn that we never had any. But I found a photo of a tagged, leftover bottle in an old photo. It was from the Zuiderdam in 2003.)
  13. We chill the whites, sparkling & dessert wines in an ice & water bucket. Our room steward brings us a wine bucket an fills it in addition to the little ice bucket. I used to bring all my wine with me but stopped once we started getting the Elite Beverage Package. Now I might bring some Champagne or a special bottle or two. Here is your chilling chart. We have a little thermometer we carry, but that's not at strictly necessary.
  14. No, you just tell them exactly what you want. There have been times that they ran out of a particular selection. Having the wine delivered to you in your room means that you get what you want. If it turns out that the new selection is more to your liking, they will let you you swap it out.
  15. They deliver the wine to your room. That is our default option. We're big on proper wine temperatures. If you want to to drink your reds at 65 degrees Fahrenheit, you have to cool them a bit. They'll come back up to temp in the glass.
  16. There was a brief while when caviar was higher than $50. Based on my admittedly hazy memory and the fact that I read the price in someone's post, the $70 figure seems right. As much as I would like to see $50 caviar, I'm not going to kvetch about the new $80 price. It's not like we have to order it. (We will, but we don't have to.)
  17. You can add HIA or anything else for that matter, until 3-4 days before sailing. You can do it yourself from the website. Log in. Click on my account and then your cruise booking #. You should be on a page that says Welcome & your name. On the left side of the screen you will see a link to buy packages. HIA will be under packages.
  18. Did you ever consider that you might be receiving the offers because you are fun and just having you on a cruise adds value to the vacation experience of all those who sail with you? 😃
  19. The Boston runs are a great idea, but hurricane season and the PVSA get in the way. I'd love to see Bermuda added to the distant foreign ports list. I'm sure that the government has been working on this. 100+ years is almost enough
  20. True, but HAL already has a bunch of ships in Europe. BTW - I'm very excited for you and "summer." Summer was the best 5 days of the year in Maine. We would change the oil in the snow blower and be free to frolic for the next 72-48 hours.
  21. I'm pretty sure that you are going to have to cancel through your TA. You booked through them, so the TA is the only one who can change the booking.
  22. I will take that bet. HAL has been in Alaska for more than 75 years. It's a truly spectacular place to cruise. Where would you send your ships during the summer season?
  23. Just a little question. Would anyone from the AARP gift card thread or from the AARP OBC thread check in with the people who think the Have It All fares are driving up the cost of specialty dining? 😉
  24. It's all run by "Big Chrome." Ever since they lost out to the big hubcap & big tailfin lobby after the Chevy Bel Air wars of 1958,it's been nothing but bad blood between the two camps. Seriously though, I'd clear my browser cache and cookies and reboot.
