  1. Is the photo functionality only available close to boarding time? I can't find it in the app. (Maybe I don't know how it works....)
  2. Room service club sandwich. 😉 It was huuuge a decade ago.
  3. Our HIA showed as not available -- or that weird thing where there's no price -- for two months after we booked. Then, one day, while I was trying to make the point that there was a problem (loudly) - it showed up as bookable at $50/pp/day. Maybe the website is sensitive to criticism and unleashing a torrent of profanity on it causes it to rethink its position. (I know that's probably not the reason, but it's a satisfying explanation.)
  4. You may be right. There are quite a few people on our HS roll call for the 2nd week in December who are NA "refugees."
  5. I'm delighted to here about the fabulous Canadian discount! 😁 I was a little confused by @VennDiagram's comment and then I realized that the charge is less than a dollar and that's $1 is often the minimum charge amount on credit cards.
  6. Fingers crossed for Starlink. We are on shortly after drydock.
  7. Question for Canadians: If you booked or looked at cruises on Tuesday, July 11th, was your deposit $1 CAD or did you have to pay more because of the exchange rate? I'm just curious. Thank you.
  8. This is why I keep some old hotel keys in my travel wallet. I try to use ones from nicer properties. This tricks our room steward into thinking that we are a better class of people. I don't have any scientific data, but I think a Four Seasons or Ritz Carlton key keeping my lights on reflects better on me than a Hampton Inn card. 🤔
  9. Just realized that my response is stupid thanks to the phone keyboard. Anyway.... WiFiman is not full of ads and does a good job as a basic site survey tool.
  10. Search Club Orange on the HAL website. Download the PDF with the info so you know what you are getting. There is a number to call. Make sure you have a deck plan handy when you call. You'll be choosing the upgrade room during the call.
  11. We do the same. It's not unusual for crew to shift assignments between voyages. You may have different room steward, dining team, cabana guys, etc.
  12. If this has been mentioned, I apologize. I just skimmed the thread. When scoping out your ice cream choices, check both sides of the Lido buffet. The every day flavors stay the same, but there's usually a feature flavor and often differs on each side. If you are a vanilla or chocolate ice cream person, it doesn't matter. My father in law, on the other hand, was always on the hunt for special flavors. He did a full lap before committing. As has been mentioned, there are quite a few sundae ingredients available.
  13. One more thing... If you need a site survey tool, WiFiman by Ubiquiti is pretty good. It's free, not changing my chock full of ads and works well.
  14. From "talking" to people, the placeholder menus in the app once you got on board and the app changes state.
  15. With respect to Starlink, coverage probably won't change unless they add/move access points on the ship. The speeds once connected will improve, but your connection to the access point will be the gating factor. Use a site survey tool to see which AP gives you the best signal before connecting.
  16. My router runs off USB power so it can be powered by portable battery. I use a "lipstick battery" and the whole setup fits easily into a jacket pocket. It's got enough range to work from our cabana (where it lives in a beach bag) to the lounge chair area. It easily covers our whole cabin. I have a plug in version, but the portable one is better for cruising.
  17. This is stellar advice. Always ask the bartenders if you want something "off menu" or out of the ordinary. And remember, you want to talk to the bartender and not the server. The servers are great, but the bartender is making the drink. I think you'll be delighted about what they'll come up with.
  18. No, that was free room service breakfast. I was confused myself.
  19. There's a pickleball league at POA2 here in Fort Lauderdale. They play during our working hours but we pop out to watch from our balcony when we get a free moment. I had no idea how serious the sport was. Thanks to all of you for the insight.
  20. Neither hydrogen fuel cells nor solar panels are truly zero emissions. I'm pretty sure that you are limited to sail and tides. (I'm not aware of any ship sized hydroelectric.) If I'm wrong and you can find fuel cells and solar panels in nature, I apologize.
  21. I want to say that you started hand carrying your life vest in the early 2000s. I could be wrong. Debbie remembers wearing hers in 2007, so odds are I'm wrong.
  22. Let's say that you really like a low alcohol drink like an Aperol spritz or Campari & club soda. You like them so much that you drink 15 per day. (Work with me here.) If you are having 15 of your low potency drinks each day, you might want to pay for a Sprite or Coke because it costs less and you do not wish to lose a spritz for a Sprite.
  23. I think that the OP wanted to know if the $0.75 drink could be paid for separately. If you happen to run across a "buy a drink, get one for seventy five cents" offer, you probably cannot take the six bits drink and put it on a separate tab.
  24. And they don't get paid extra for compared to the work required.
  25. Odds are that the 75 cent drink does not exist. That being said, you can buy a gift card for beverages and put those $0.75 drinks toward it.
