  1. Try to go under Settings > Apps and find the Navigator app. Clear the cache and the data. You'll have to log in again, but that should rebuild the underlying data and clear things up.
  2. Love your photos and your reports. Thanks for including us on your adventures!
  3. Best wishes on your physical therapy! Just remember that the secret is lots of reps with light weights.
  4. What? Speak to me of this dark magic! What madness is next? Cocktail in your left hand, hors d'oeuvres in the right??? Where will this craziness end?
  5. Thank you. We're 4 star, so I hadn't really paid attention. Thank you for setting me straight.
  6. I think that the sign says "Suites" but I could be wrong.
  7. Your TA should catch it. Ours caught a discrepancy in my birth date one time. In any case, it's a pretty simple fix. I would not print anything until it's fixed though.
  8. No idea on whom you should speak to. When you log in to the website, use your email address. Use the same address to log in to your app. If it's still not working, let us know what OS your phone is running and the phone type. To find the associated bookings in app, click Account, then Bookings at the top.
  9. Contact your TA. Despite the awesomeness of the HAL website, a human being had to enter your name. Was it correct on your booking confirmation?
  10. You will typically be in an early group. Wheelchair assistance is first. That's followed by Suites, 5* & 4* Mariners, and Club Orange. It also depends on how many others are in a high priority boarding group, party sizes, etc. Of course you have to be checked in for the cruise in order to get a low boarding card number. The priorities are not combinable. So, a 5 star Mariner, needing wheelchair assistance, booked into a Neptune Suite is not rocketed onto the ship via catapult. All in all, HAL boarding tends to be very orderly.
  11. If the ship to YVR transfers work the same way as they did a few years ago, they are super worthwhile. We flew from/to Portland, ME via Logan (talk about a short flight) and it made leaving Canada a lot easier. When you are flying in from the East coast, you may land in Vancouver at around the same time as red eyes coming from Asia. It can get a little backed up at customs/immigration.
  12. Imagine how the lobster felt! 😉
  13. They'll have them at check in. Hopefully you can at least check your email while you are away. However, they're pretty good at dealing with these types of things. If you don't have printed luggage tags, you can get them from the porters. Just tell them your stateroom number. If you have no paperwork whatsoever when you are checking in, please turn around and say, "Hi!" This is because I am inevitably behind that person. 😉
  14. Create the login on the HAL website FIRST. Once you've done that, you should be able to attach/find the booking there. You will THEN use that login to use the app. It's easier to do it in that order.
  15. Very good experience. We chose the Fairmont Vancouver. IMHO it's a nicer hotel. It's directly across the street from Canada Place. The other option was the Pan Pacific which is attached to Canada Place. Canada Place is where you'll meet the ship. The bell staff at the Fairmont offered to roll our bags across the street for us, but we took them ourselves. Both hotels are in a great location, but you may want to take a cab to a restaurant for dinner.
  16. Thank you. I didn't mention it because I never want to spend someone else's money or decide how much they can/should spend. On our Volendam Alaska cruise, we hired a floatplane in Ketchikan for just the 4 people in our group. We had a little island in Misty Fjords all to ourselves for about 20 minutes until another private hire arrived. (Then, there were 2 planes, 2 pilots & 8 pax on the little rock island. Crazy crowded!) That was a fairly "spendy" excursion, but it was a highlight of our trip. I'm trying to present a range of options with feedback from you, the seasoned experts, so our friends can pick a good itinerary. I really appreciate all the feedback. The activities don't have to be expensive, nor do they have to be bargains. I just wanted to see what people liked.
  17. Thank you for the replies! Very helpful. Doee anyone have experience with the Salmon Bake? The reviews on the HAL site are mixed but I know our friends like salmon.
  18. Also, prior to performing the 275 simple steps above, I tried clearing the app cache and data, then updating the app and re-logging in It did not work. So I rolled back the app using the APK file I had backed up. At that point, I was back in the previous version of the Navigator app with the stuck, phantom cart item. I will let you know if I hear back from HAL Navigator app support. We sail in 190 days, so I'm not super optimistic.
  19. On Tuesday morning, I emailed the Navigator app support people. I still have not heard back. (Behold my shocked face. 😮) However, the Android version had an update yesterday. So, I opened the old app. Then closed it. (This causes it to be at the top of the list when you go into Settings > Apps in stock Android.) Went into Settings > Apps and Force Stopped the Navigator app. Then I cleared the app cache and the app data. Next, I un-installed the app by dragging it from the all apps tray to the uninstall "button" at the top of the screen. I'm running Android 13 with the May 2023 update on a Pixel 7 Pro. If you are still with me and your eyes haven't glazed over, Navigator is completely un-installed now. Next, I restarted my phone. (I am a troubleshooting machine.) After that, I headed to the Google Play store and got the new version of the Navigator app. Once it was installed, I had to log in again, making sure to set up the biometrics. The phantom cart is now gone. Final score: Mad Geek Skillz 1, HAL Navigator Support 0.
  20. This will probably be their one chance to get to Alaska. They're open for anything and have no mobility issues. They'll probably stick with HAL excursions.
  21. We have some friends looking at a 7 day r/t Vancouver next year. We gave them some ideas for excursions, but I was wondering what others would recommend. Thank you!
  22. Always stunning photography, Roger! Thank you.
  23. Yes. That's how casino credit works. We're not big gamblers, but we'll buy $50/week in casino cash.. It might be called casino chips in the Navigator app. We receive a little card that we have to sign and present at the cashier's cage. They'll give you cash or chips. It's handy but you sometimes get a big stack of $10 cards and you're signing so much it's reminiscent of cashing in all those savings bonds years ago.
  24. That does not clear the data. I know this from experience. Lots and lots of experience because I am trying to get rid of a phantom item in the cart.
