  1. So you want the right side, just so you know you are going to have quite a few days where you will lose an hour each night. It got old for us on our one Eastbound TA. The weather also seemed to be cooler than going the other way in the Fall. It seems it takes a while for the water to warm up and cool down. My experience may have been uncommon but it was cool for most of the cruise.

  3. I guess it depends if you want to see Israel or not?
  4. Yes weird for sure you would think they would tout it as they had said all 17 ships would get Starbucks and it seemed like Jade was the last! Same coffee probably just 1.5X the price!
  5. I am thinking probably not if you look here https://www.ncl.com/cruise-ship/pearl/whats-on-board/bars-lounges https://www.cruisemummy.co.uk/ncl-ships-by-age-and-size/ You can see the Pearl has a Starbucks and is the same age/class If they did not do it when it was last refurbished and it has been 5 years since the last refurbishment. If I had to guess I would say they will just keep the ship until they sell it off and maybe do a short refresh but nothing major. Not sure why it did not get a Starbucks with the rest of the fleet but probably past the time. Maybe NCL wanted to keep one ship without a Starbucks so they could judge how much more money they were making with them or without?
  6. Well to tell the truth the way it reads you need the Streaming package, but I would give it a try and then if not upgrade. On my cruise it might work but would be pretty poor!
  7. I have done 6 TAs and other than one in April never had it be cool if you are heading West it should be nice the whole way. Take less clothes they usually have a deal halfway thru the cruise for laundry . Focus more on one suitcase than how many outfits, don't bother with dressy unless you like to dress up. Bring 2 pairs of shoes and flip flops, a hooded sweatshirt and a jacket that can fit over it and you will be fine.
  8. I have no doubt they are cutting back and they could also have not renewed the rights to the shows either.
  9. yes you are better off getting the unlimited on my cruise the internet would go down and people could not log off. Every day the poor girl at the Internet Cafe had a line of angry people who had to see her to get their minutes back.
  10. Nope about 30 days out they will tell you the route, if you want to arrive early stay an extra day you need to call and let them know. Our flight out was not bad they funneled everyone thru JFK on the way back we had 3 flights which made for a long day.
  11. I meant the checked bag to go onboard the ship vs the carryon that you bring with you. They said they were buying them at the port.
  12. The Wifi cost is skewed he is better off sharing your package or getting an unlimited plan see the cost of that vs the 3 dining and I bet the 3 dining is more.
  13. I don't see why you could not to tell the truth, I would just put it in your checked bag and see how it goes? I would use it onboard to make your own soda 🙂
  14. Check and see if you can get a one day lounge pass or if you have any credit cards with Airport lounge access we have found it to be a major lifesaver with how much time you need to leave to get to your gate and travel times to the airport. Since we always allow plenty of time our flights have been delayed but we have never had an issue with traffic, or security lines!
  15. So as always it depends is he going to eat alone for those 3 dinners, can he use 2 dinners at one sitting to have a guest then pay for one for the third. The by the minute internet is the slowest and most restricted. You can share your internet package with him and just not use it at the same time. So if he has someone to go to dining with that also has it free it is a much better value. If he has no real use for the dining but will use the internet you could see about using the value of the 250 to be applied to the unlimited plan.
  16. I wonder if you could bring this :
  17. Sorry your room was taken we did bring loungers up ourselves on a previous cruise and our cabin steward said he would have gotten them for us.
  18. yes you can do that but I have found that tethering yourself to a group of people can lead to less fun. TXT away and you should be fine the same for calls. But I would suggest arranging a few meeting points during the day and call that good.
  19. Should not be an issue just make sure you have an extension cord to plug the stuff into. I wish I had brought my projector the TV in our cabin on the Star was small and pretty far away.
  20. For my cruise they routed everyone thru JFK it seems. You flight is pretty short so it could be anyone as has been stated we did fly thru Chicago too on American, it was good and they do provide tracking of your bags which is nice.
  21. A quick check showed port 443 which is https so that should not be an issue but again it depends I did not check all VPNs. They seems to be more concerned with charging more for streaming. Not sure how well streaming would work with a VPN at least when I was on Star a month ago I was lucky if we could watch a show for 15 minutes without pausing or just dying! Again just try it it could vary ship to ship too!
  22. Not sure how well the Jewel handles currents but when I was there about 20 years ago the seas were pretty rough.
  23. I would say to try the lower package first, we had both the unlimited and premium unlimited and other than streaming did not see any difference my wife was able to make wifi calls on her iphone as well as receive calls. I did not try VPN but it seems they just block sites so I would try to set up one of the lesser known VPN sites and see if that works. You can always upgrade your package. Depending on where we were on the cruise across the Atlantic for the first part we showed as being in Spain then it changed to Florida. The Florida part was weird since we were in South America!
  24. I use the luggage tags from Amazon and put them on when we are on the way to the ship. if you have hardsided luggage you may be able to just tape it to the top of your luggage. Anyone that has luggage and does not have some kind of tracker to me is being shortsighted. I had both tile and airtag trackers in our luggage. Our bags made it to our door for the cruise and no problem with flights we had 3 separate flights on the trip home and our bags made it with no problems. If I did not have the trackers in place the bags would have gone to someplace else I can assure you!
  25. It all depends on the excursion but on my last cruise they were all 50.00 more for 2 people than other places so we have 5 stops and I never used the credit. For a single person it could make sense.
