That looks like a big bowl of shaved ice. Maybe it's the photo??

I agree if you are used to cruising, you just go eat. Everything is paid for. But on land vacations, your meals are on your own. You don't realize how things add up. I look at it as you either pay on the front end or back end.

Biggest shave ice I’ve ever seen, we all had blue lips & tongues for hours!

Lois - we are each other's opposite!!!   I'm definitely a land cruiser, but appreciate a water-based vacation now and then 😸

Harrison Ford is a local up there.  I don't know if he still is active, but he was a helicopter pilot (in his own copter) for the local search & rescue.

Yes, food prices can be a bit on the high side in a resort area.  It's one of the problems living in a resort town.  There are only a few places here that don't charge "tourist" prices that I will go to for a meal.  Part of the price I pay for living up here.  Back in the day, restaurants would have "locals only" or 2-fers in the summer.  I do miss that!!

Melody - there is cream on that shave ice, right???  yum!

Yup, made from condensed milk. It was yummy!!!

Despite the comments above, why not actually go ahead and get passports for them?  It will bring you piece of mind and they may come in handy for their travels in the next 10 years.

Also, although not strictly necessary for the OP's cruise it's very helpful to have a passport with you in case you are stranded in a foreign port, perhaps by a medical issue.

Passports for under 18 are for 5 years

I wish it worked that way all the time. Some of the time it does (especially in MDR), but I've found that the wine I am served is what I actually ordered about 50% of the time. Especially at the outdoor bars, you are likely to get whatever is open and (clutching the pearls) in a dishpan of ice that is remotely related to what you ordered.

Order a champagne off the menu, and you might get a prosecco. And the significant difference between a New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc and a South African Sauvignon Blanc is totally lost on the "sommelier". I had the bar staff in the Sky Lounge on a Celebrity ship explain to me that the wine list was "just a suggestion, not something you can order from."

Broke up laughing at “clutching the pearls”. I had to tell the wine steward (definitely not a sommelier) the difference between a Prosecco & a champagne (besides the price)

I've been able to hook up both FireStick and Roku on al classes of ships -  M - S and E (only Edge).

With all ships the main challenge is to Log onto the ship's wifi using the captive logon portal.   Roku uses a work around where you can connect you phone to the Roku and then use a web site to logon.  Firestick is suppose to open a popup but I've never been able to get it to do so.

The work around is to create a hotspot using your PC or mini router -

Thanks all for the whooping cough booster info!  Honesty, I never heard of it.  I have my annual checkup on 8/15 so I'll try to remember to ask about it.  I had whooping cough back when I was a little kid - maybe 7 or so, even with the vax.  I wonder if that is why I am so prone to bouts of bronchitis...

I've been bing-watching The Bear this weekend, from start.  I always heard about it but I never watched it.  Very good.  The food part of it is really cool.  The fact that they have cameos with all these famous chefs is a surprise.

OOTD:  my hoodie mini dress - just hangin and binging.

Whooping cough as a child can definitely impact bronchitis as an adult. We’ve found that out with Les

Anyone else use this service? We don’t have a direct flight and our butler couldn’t answer our questions. Currently on the Reflection, filled out the form with all the flight information and gave it to guest services. Was given tags (that aren’t actual airline tags) and it just has the first flight on the tag.

Hoping this works. We do have AirTags in the suitcases!

Your luggage should have had your final destination on the tag. We cannot get a direct flight to our home airport & our luggage valet tags always have our final destination airport code on them. You should also get an itinerary.

We originally booked a veranda room on our upcoming Iceland cruise but “upgraded” to a guaranteed concierge class room for $43.50 per person. It was worth it for the points. We haven’t received our cabin number yet (it’s only been 15 days and the cruise leaves in 48 days) but I was wondering what’s the latest people have received their assignment? One note is that all Concierge, Aqua, and Suites are sold out is why I’m somewhat nervous.

Did you upgrade or do the move-up program?  If you did move-up you won’t get the extra points

Not quite true.  There are 14 menus.  They can be served in any order.  So on your cruise you might find #6, #2, #1, #3, and so forth….

They generally serve the menu with the lobster tail on a chic night.

Lobster is on second chic night

I need distilled water for a medical reason. Would I be able to check an unopened gallon of distilled water along with my luggage? Not in my luggage. I’d put a luggage tag on the handle of the plastic bottle.

Has anyone had any experience with doing that?

Contact Special Needs prior to cruising. They will put a gallon of distilled water in your cabin. If you need more your cabin steward will get you more
