  1. Cities/ states that are already having trouble dealing with the outbreak dont want a situation of a cruise ship showing up with an outbreak. Denial of porting privilege is the answer. Once one city does that other cities will follow suit. That will lead to an immediate collapse of the cruise industry. All those FCC will be worthless when the companies fill for bankruptcy/ reorganization. If you can cancel and get some of your money back, that is the way to go.
  2. Because when a cruise ship shows up with even one affected person it creates a huge nightmare for where ever they port. They have to quarantine, house, feed, treat, etc every single person.
  3. Bring on the fat lady!
  4. We are booked on Panorama, May 2nd. We were going to wait and see. But after the Gov't warnings, I think we will be canceling this week. We are in our 60' and dont see any sense in taking unnecessary risks. I don't think this thing is going to blow over quickly.
  5. There are a million things to do in Los Angeles. The California Science Center has the space shuttle Endeavour. I think it is free. The LA Zoo is terrific and much cheaper than the San Diego Zoo. Little Tokyo is fun. Santee Alley is a great place to shop for all sorts of stuff. If you have never seen the stars on Hollywood boulevard, that is fun. Huntinton Gardens in Pasadena is spectacular. You will have no trouble finding something to do for a week in Los Angeles. Google is your friend.
  6. And if the test is positive no one gets off. No one gets on and we have another Grand Princess situation. And who know what the issue is with the Regal Princess. What a cluster fluster. Feel sorry for everyone who got their vacation ruined.
  7. If I am reading this correctly, the test has not come back. So they dont really know if they are sailing tomorrow. Please correct me if I am wrong.
  8. Jamaica, Jamaica, Jamaica. The food, the music, the scenery, the people, the vibe.
  9. I understand your point. I should have clarified that it would not be good for the industry.
  10. Just read this. Not good if true. https://www.reuters.com/article/us-health-coronavirus-cruiseships-exclus-idUSKBN20T29M
  11. 21 now infected on the Grand Princess. I think a lot more people will be canceling. Especially if that ship is quarantined.
  12. Certain insurance companies will cover you out of country. I know Kaiser does. Check your medical insurance
  13. We sail on May 2nd. I think we will just wait and see how it all shakes out.
  14. On our last NCL cruise one old boy wore overalls to the MDR every night. Actual farmboy, beat up denim overalls. So obviously anything goes.
  15. According to Wikipedia, walleye cod is pollock. A mild white fish. McDonald's filet of fish is pollock.
  16. We just booked MSC for the first time. The value was terrific. So it will interesting to see how we like it. I don't know why people stick with the same cruise line all the time. In December we cruised NCL for the first time and loved it. Try another line. How bad can it be? You're on a cruise! Besides, it's fun to sleep around .
  17. I fear soon we will run out of places to keep them.
