  1. All the time we were in Italy we just had our EHIC card, never any insurance. We're contemplating a Rhine river cruise.I think the same may apply there too unless there is compulsary cover required by the operator.I mean, any problems, just pull over and offload on the riverbank, lol.
  2. Happened to me in Vancouver.Running for a HOHO bus in the rain I skidded on a metal expansion joint in the pier.I was semiconscious but soon recovered when someone suggested an ambulance those $$$$$ in my head helped..I didn't know where I was for half an hour.I said to my mrs on the bus, have we left Alaska yet.Cup of tea and rest back onboard helped.
  3. Blimey Jane,I'm glad the head injury wasn't worse. You're waking up to a better day,the Gooners are top of the Prem again.
  4. Our daughter took the kids to the Tower of London yesterday. They didn't see that there, lol.Have a good flight Purdey.
  5. Finally managed to fit 2 houses of clobber into 1.Fitted 3 extra shelves in wardrobe,1 extra under stairs for shoes and 5 bagfulls for charity shop☺️.
  6. You're dead right LL,I always go to a local childrens hospice shop. The larger well known charities have too many overheads IMO.
  7. Having brought home another houseful of clothes from Italy,we've spent 2 days clearing out and making numerous trips to charity shops.Went to B&Q for melamine and fitted 2 extra shelves in wardrobes.Another 2 days at least.Next stop, the shed, to make room for all the tools I've brought home, lol.
  8. You must be Elite with Greggs, Graham. My bacon at Victoria coach station is never that good 😉.
  9. We just walked around the town in Kirkwall, quite small.I think there is a whisky distillery tour on the Island.
  10. Thanks mate, the drive from Como to Thionville was eventful.Coming out of the Gotthard tunnel into the German region of Switzerland was snowy and sleet and then the last 2 hrs in France was torrential rain and hailstones.Yesterday there were numerous fog banks thru the rolling hills of the Alsace. We got an earlier Leshuttle though and made it home early.
  11. Morning LL,we used to buy a Greek yogurt in Italy.Believe it or not it's called Kalos. Our Kalos gets better reviews though.
  12. Hi guys, final trek yesterday,8 hrs hotel to front door.Back to normal this morning.
  13. I was going to post a "Graham" from the banks of Lucerne. We came out of the Gotthard tunnel to snow and rain, plus no Greggs to be seen.I think the Swiss food police told them to jog on.In Thionville now after a 6 hr drive.Last 4 hr leg tomorrow.
  14. The one in Como was an old one only 100 yards from the lake.It was only 90 quid plus 15 for garage parking, now it's around 150.We stayed in a suite hotel in Lugano with lake views from a large patio attached to our room. That was 200 euro, but a treat for us b4 Christmas.
  15. Now I would,but back in the day,lol.
  16. How dare they, they wouldn't have a pint of Cobra and a Vindaloo every friday night.Bloody lightweights.
  17. I should add it's called hotel cruise.there's a message there somewhere.
  18. 5 hr drive to the outskirts of Como.Pre Brexit when we drove home just b4 Christmas we stayed downtown near the lake with all the Christmas markets etc.Now we stay in a business hotel on an industrial estate,it's a 4star with views if you look hard enough.
  19. Hi guys, thanks for all your kind words.Just arrived in Orvieto after 8 hrs and the suspension surviving the drive over Sila Grande mountains.Outskirts of Como tomorrow.
  20. Final meal with our friends and farewell to the owners and staff of our favourite restaurant.
  21. Thanks,we've stayed in Switzerland a few times but try and drive thru without stopping now as it's so expensive, lol.Car is loaded to the hilt but allowed 500 kgs without us and fuel.I don't think we've got that much.
  22. LOL,it's only done 62000 in 8 years.Just 3000 round trip and hardly used when back.Notary done and dusted in 2 hrs.Just 200 euro cost for me to get a energy cert. Our friends paid 3000 euro for notary and taxes etc.Good game for me.Swapped all the energy and commune contracts to their name.Taking them out to dinner and setting off home tomorrow, cheers,Brian.
  23. Thanks Jane,a bit stressful organising paperwork and energy certs. Our friends are a bit laid back.I said did you tell your bank about a large transfer,er no,so a frantic phone call for them to do it in 2 tranches.Mixed fealings as you said but looking forward to a new chapter.Just a couple of bucket list cruises to do,Brian.
