I think you are both right. As I see it, it is likely to be P&O policy but properly based on health and safety considerations. Health and safety is often seen in a negative way, especially in some of the media, but I think having rules to keep people healthy and safe is a paramount importance. As a slight distraction though, it may be quite awkward for two 16 or 17 year olds in a relationship (perfectly legal but maybe ill advised) to book a cruise and share a cabin if they do not have a ‘responsible adult’ with them.

P&O Cruisers - What are things like where YOU are?
pete14 replied to Host Sharon's topic in P&O Cruises ( UK )
I suspect that whoever fraudulently took 21pence had acquired your bank details and was doing a test debit from your card before potentially taking much more if the small transaction was successful. Raising it as an issue and replacing your card was the sensible thing to do. Maybe not everybody does and ends up regretting it. -
I completely agree with what you have put. I can only imagine and fear what would happen if the need arose to summon passengers to muster stations because of an emergency under the old arrangements. Through no fault of their own, those with poor mobility could cause blockages in corridors and on the stairs and in all the confusion and panic, possibly with only emergency lighting, are likely to end up being trampled underfoot in the chaos that would ensue. I realise that this is new arrangement is likely to limit the number of people with poor or no mobility from cruising but not cruising must be preferable to being in an emergency situation and not being able to evacuate safely if the situation ever arose. P&O may not have handled this new regulation very well but once it beds in, we should get to a new and safer normal. It is just a pity that through no fault of their own, some may either have to book earlier so that arrangements can be made to guarantee their safety or get used to cruising less or not at all.

I am interested that you have family links with Telford. We lived there for more than 30 years before moving to Stoke. It certainly changed out of all recognition over the time we were there. -

I am sorry that you are having problems finding cruises where evacuation chairs are available and hope that you are able to get a cancellation but it would appear as though the need for such a facility is well known. Otherwise, they would not be booked up so far in advance. No real consolation for Mrs Selbourne though ☹️

P&O Cruisers - What are things like where YOU are?

I think my post above answers your question. The most important one in my view is whether insurance companies are prepared to insure them and at a reasonable price. Mine certainly were not. To paraphrase their representative on email, ‘we don’t offer insurance on that car and possibly never will’. -

I wish you luck with getting a power supply sufficient to charge a car to your remote garage. I was all set for getting a full electric car a couple of months ago and the fuss and cost of getting a home charger installed outside our garage which is only 20 metres from the electric meter was prohibitive. Getting home broadband to extend as far as the charger in order to access the cheap tariffs was also an issue as was the refusal of my insurance company (and others) to cover the new electric car I was planning to buy. I bought another self charging hybrid instead. -
Prices seem quite good for Aurora and the cruise looks great. Many of us have done similar cruises, we certainly enjoyed ours. I don’t know what sort of cabin you are looking for. My choice for this cruise would be a balcony but of course it costs more. It seems that the only sea view cabin available is A317 which I would avoid personally because of its position. If you are looking to take the car parking as your extra benefit, it may be advisable to check that the parking company (CPS) has an available space for you. If so, that or the coach (depending on where you live) may the most cost effective choice. I like Aurora but the age profile of fellow guests will probably be quite high. There will be no under 18s on her though. I hope this helps.

Probably a good idea and it gets us a bit closer back towards the thread about norovirus.

And if you were careful, you could wash it and reuse.

Not just any old man in the Tesco DIY scanning machine. Listen carefully and then tell me it isn’t Rishi Sunak. -
Perhaps we should look for a no win no fee very personal injury specialist to represent us in a group action historical case against the manufacturers.

It remember that it was also was handy to use as tracing paper for homework. Try using Andrex for that.

Saver fare dinner sitting - can I change it?
pete14 replied to 5498jjk's topic in P&O Cruises ( UK )
If you have linked the bookings, there is probably a better chance of you being given the same sitting and probably the same table. However, there are no guarantees even on select. It may be possible to change onboard if you don’t get what you want but don’t bank on doing so. After all, those who book select pay more for their cruise and first consideration for dining preference is a benefit they pay for. -

You are absolutely correct in saying singing about the ‘ownership’ of Gibraltar was inappropriate and wrong. As a football fan, attending 20+ matches a season, I condemn it completely. However, a small minority of English fans (as far as we know not players) also bring disgrace to the game and whoever they represent by, for example, singing the theme from Dambusters aimed at German teams or making reference to tragedies such as Hillsborough. Only a small number, most football fans condemn it, but sadly we are as guilty as others. -

Do you think it would have been any different in the unlikely event that England had won? England were poor throughout the tournament and were lucky to reach the final. They won just two of their seven games within the scheduled 90 minutes, scored two last minute goals and a very dodgy penalty in the semi final. -

They give no claims discount which you can pay a bit extra to protect but not loyalty. As Megabear stated, introductory discounts to get new customers are now illegal. -

Another LV customer. Car insurance rose by more than I liked but a quick phone call knocked about £50 off the premium that made it OK. Home insurance renewed a few days ago went up by less than 5% which I didn’t feel was too bad. -

Nee dud I 🤔 -
I suppose it depends on what you most want to do, party or cruise. I have no idea where you live but the thought of leaving it to the last minute fills me with dread. No-one can accurately predict arrival time, no matter how you travel to Southampton docks. If your boarding time is 13:30, I would not want to arrive much later than that.

Thanks for that Kalos. I usually use an Ipad which would be great if it gave a rotate function. Still now I know you can sort it, I won’t need to bother. 😇 -

Thanks for rotating it. How did you manage to do that? No need to go to Australia again if I find out how to do it. -
