  1. Kiwi Andy,

Also check the Ports section on CC… Ravenna, if it is on your itinerary, you want  Cinzia… can’t say more specifically on this thread but she was written up in the NYT when we went in the mid 20teens!

First cruise on AZ, you will be spoiled! Enjoy!  Don’t miss the escargot at the French Night Buffet and the mussells at lunch whatever day it shows up in the Windows Cafe… I think I went for thirds…

    Nunfa,

I thought the gelato on the ship was fabulous! But I have had some wonderful gelato in Italy!  Will note for future travels!

  2. Amazing Azers,

We also just returned from the June/July Norway cruise on the Pursuit and agree with Bob and Beverly that it was a great cruise with fabulous scenery and interesting ports of call. We spent 5 days north of the Arctic circle in the land of the Midnight Sun, although it was overcast late at night so it was easy to pull the curtains and sleep!  We booked direct in Stravanger with Rodne for the Lysefjord cruise, a short walk from where the ship docked  https://www.fjordnorway.com/en/see-and-do/fjord-cruise-to-the-lysefjord-and-preikestolen,  Fabulous scenery!

Mostly did private tours or went OOO  (on our own) but have to give a shout out for the ship’s Crab Feast tour in Honningsvag!  Many did the Blue Puffin to the North Cape which was well reviewed.  Highly recommend the Trollstigen The Land of the Trolls with Trond of Local Tours in Alesund.   https://localtrips.no/excursions.html

Weather was great and had brought clothing for colder weather but as a Canadian, never need it… (Floridians should pack for cold!)  This was on the bucket list for many years and glad we finally got to do it on Az with a balcony…

  3. Just off the Pursuit — Spa raffle on embarkation day did give everyone there a discount on one treatment I think for a port day, as well there were a few advertised specials in the programme for one day only. I got a Hot Stone massage for a great price. Also about halfway through the cruise, $50 coupon appeared on the door with your name printed on it, so watch for specials.

  4. Hi S&T and KK…

We are on the Pursuit with you in June, and although we haven’t been on the Pursuit, the configuration on the other AZs are 120 US and 240 Euro… plus the lamps next to the beds have a USB port… and I think there is another plug for the lamps (and the vacuum) … hidden behind the bed… think it might be Euro, but wouldn’t bet on it for the Pursuit…  Adaptors needed for your Aussie plugs to Euro but you don’t need the converter!

    Forget what the bathroom has!

  5. Exactly… it goes to a payment popup page and that’s it… Even If I try to choose excursions, and hit continue, it wants me to pay what it thinks I owe… since I paid in full to my TA in February, I just don’t trust the site… I sent AZ Support request the documentation and bluntly, nothing changed on my account. Not sure how we will be able to get a boarding passes if it won’t let me by the erroneous payment message!  Don’t think sending another support request will make any difference so I am giving up until others report success on this board!  Will contact my TA closer to sailing… or just show up at the dock in Southampton!

  6. CONTRARY TO THE FOLLOWING… NOTHING CHANGED … ALTHOUGH I HAVE PAID IN FULL AND IT SAYS IT ON THE FIRST PAGE, a balance is still owing in the next page and I can go no further until I pay money I don’t owe!   We sail in June… will wait until then to try again…

  7. Travels with Lisa,

Wow, $2 million for a shore excursion… do you get to fly on a gold jet around the world!✈️🌏

Glad I didn’t book any excursions yet, it would be another mess to untangle!  But it does make it difficult to have to wait until we are onboard!!!  The website shows my AZ OBC correctly!!! and the TA OBC won’t show until we board so we were going to have to book onboard… I was waiting for the website upgrade thinking that they might lose what we had booked… but never thought it would be this messed up!

We also have the wrong AZ Circle points but our status is correct, so we will get our internet and laundry benefits which is all I care about. It must be a nightmare for them but I hope they figure it out soon…  Am taking screen shots in case I do have to contact my TA.

  8. New Website …Why did I even bother to look… On the first page it says my upcoming Norway cruise in June is paid in full…it is and I have an invoice from my TA showing it, but the next page says it isn’t and I owe a certain amount… although I don’t know how the TA commissions work, could this be what the TA earns??? Not even going to bother my TA yet, but has this happened to others?!

  9. Azers,

In the old days, as a Loyalty perk you could bid to upgrade for a straight $400… we had a  Deck 6  Obstructed Oceanview… tiniest cabin (insides are bigger) with a view of the underbelly of the lifeboat… there are a few of the obstructed 6s that you can see ocean between the lifeboats…choose wisely… luckily the loyalty upgrade for us came through, but we knew what we were paying for and were amazed we got upgraded!  Now with the new system,    staight bidding and my unlucky karma, we book the cabin we want… waited for the Inside for Balcony annual offering deal which is a more expensive inside price (smoke and mirrors) as compared to the rest of the year price…  but a cheaper Balcony than usual promo for our next cruise to Norway…  so if you ever book a Oceanview make sure you get a full sized one and not the Obstructed ‘skinny’ cabins on Deck 6!

Study the AZ deck plans…  it makes a big difference in what you choose… Friends had an inside on an upper deck…it was lovely, but I am spoiled and like natural daylight  and not a Bat Cave!

  10. AZers… Anyone remember what X gave us for the “old” points… we just made D+ before Covid… scrapping past the 750 by a couple of points and a few bonus points for answering some X surveys… but the  cruise history still shows 2 and 3 points for our earlier cruises…

    M aka T!

  11. GC… Thanks, exactly the answer I thought… Midnight sun in the Arctic can make it quite warm and sunny at the time we are going but you never know what you will get… layers, but I’m not bringing my winter gear… gloves and a scarf, and lots of layers!

    M aka T!

  12. GC,

Thanks for all the great advice on the AZ Norway cruise. My question is how cold does it get above the Arctic Circle on this cruise…. but living in Canada, my definition of COLD is very different from many people!  Overpacked for Alaska on RCI last year and ended up in Covid Quarantine and never needed anything warm!!!  We will be in London end of June before the cruise, so I am expecting it to be HOT HUMID and maybe rainy…

Anything above  0 Celsius is balmy!

    M aka Turangi!

  13. AZers!

Definitely recommend everyone print your cruise history with X and AZ… Today on the AZ site I got “Sorry we are unable to display your loyalty tier and points… check back later”  and X said I had 0 points… but my cruise history of all 14 cruises on AZ & X on the AZ site was correct. so on my IPad I hit print in the pull down menu but made sure it was draft quality as there’s lots of BLACK INK boxes…

Assuming everything will be glitchy for the next month or so.  Also had some AZ OBC on my Planner for my next cruise but can’t find it today… will wait until after the Great Divide!

So the separation is already happening!

  14. TravelBerlin…  I have been cooking lobsters since my teenage years and I am well past retirement and recently on Vancouver Island had friends catch and prepare crabs for a most memorable feast… DH had to clean them in the ocean in January… so we are serious crabbers… if the AZ excursion is tacky… all the more fun…. mussels in Kotor Bay was the best cruise excursion ever… I take my seafood seriously!🦀🦀🦀🦀🦀

  15. WROTE THIS WHILE GC WAS POSTING,,, Thanks for the clarification!!!

We are also on the June 24 Norway Pursuit cruise. Now I am confused because the Itinerary and the cruise planner show the same overlapping information with different arrival and departure times… there is a RIB tour to Trollfjord listed in our shore excursions, so I am guessing we go into Svolvaer and the TrollFjord is a highlight but unusual to double list with arrival and departure for both!?!

UKTraveller~ We have a Roll Call for the June 24 Pursuit, but this particular thread on not to miss excursions has been very informative since these CC members have already done Norway!!!

  16. GC!

Many thanks for some great advice… will follow up on all of it, especially the advice on which ports we can tour on our own… since some days I like to be lazy and not have to get up early and off the ship! Someone on our Roll Call has toured with Blue Puffin so great to hear it is very popular with AZ cruisers!

How bouncy was the RIB boat? DH has back issues so we are cautious when travelling! but I was looking at a tour of Trollfjord since we are going for the scenery!!

  17. We are booked for Norway in June 2023 and I have done some preliminary research on tours but would love some input about highlights!  DH wants to do the Crab Safari ….  is it worth it?!  Can Bergen be done on our own?! The smaller ports it looks like there are specific tours offered… any not to be missed?  For the AZMazing Evening…there is a placeholder listed as Best of Norway in Tromso… anyone remember any details from their AZ cruise?!  Thanks!

     Happy Holidays!

  18. HMatt,

We love to dine al fresco… “out the back” as I call it… on Azamara cruises. We even got to dine outside “running dark” through the Gulf of Aden. (Long story…)    Usually the buffet has a different country theme every evening and I still crave the escargot in a thick cream sauce on the France night!  I asked for just a taste but because few people were in the venue, the chef filled my plate, that I then shared with our table… and one person went for his own portion… The MDR is wonderful but we like the ambiance and informality of the Sunset Veranda… weather permitting… but don’t miss the brunch in the MDR when offered…

    Enjoy!

  19. Tyler,

I agree getting lost in Venice is the best way to really see it!  We visited a nearby small church and returned a few days later for an evening concert that was special because it was the people from the community!  Later on a formal tour, our guide took us back to the same church which we learned was the church of the gondiliers.  She was surprised we had already been there twice… because she thought this was a hidden gem on her tour that no one knew about!

I see you did Norway on AZ last year…Any advice for my upcoming Norway Azamara cruise, June 24… please respond to our roll call to not get off topic! Go to my profile to find the Norway roll call for 2023!
