  8. Did read rumours of Mein schiff 2 being transferd to Marella in 2025, as TUI have three new builds being built two being 160,000 tons 4,000 pax,s, that would hopefully be the one for U.K sailings again.
  9. Hi Roger hope you are both well, going back to life boats Britannia got caught up in that storm in Majorca and lost two, having broke her mooring lines and blew her into a tanker, health and safety they had to fly passengers home. not enough life boats to go round.
  10. If Voyagers life boats were unseaworthy x2 she would loose 300 Paxs strait away and i dont think Marella would like that, but hey you cant pick up a life boat of the top shelf.
  11. For cruisers waiting outside as i have seen all season, there is now tea and coffee to be had.

  18. This maybe helpful for future cruisers unable to find parking at the port of Southampton, though i live in So,ton and work in the cruise parking industry i know its getting desperate now the season is upon us, we for one are full all the month of May, had a email from So,ton Airport for meet and greet parking and taxi down to the port, those traveling south would find it very easy using the airport parking as i know with four ships in port can be very busy. i hope this will help anybody looking for parking,
  19. Hi Roger and everyone its nice to read the cruises you have all taken over the years and brings back memories of the Eastern med, just about to show my age yep went through the Dardanelles, and through the Bosphorus into the black sea and docked in Yalta, i worked on the royal mail cruise ship Andes, 1963, have just done B/B on Discovery and any one cruising on her this year will find the refit very good, with decks 6/7/8 all completed glass doors on the showers and all fittings new, i had cabin 6616 standard balcony, and found it very quiet, and no hesitation in recommending this one.
  20. Was also looking at the Caribbean again for 2024 again £6000 for a standard balcony and two weeks cruising , done a dummy booking on P&0 web site £4500 plus £480 0n board spend, for a Balcony, the point is my wife is T.T. and only my self like a couple of pints, though i love marella and have done many cruises were it was pay as you go was fine by me i do think they are very expensive now.
  21. Could well be Sunwing, part of the TUI group, they are the company pushing cruises for Explorer 2 for Jamaica next year from Canada.
  22. Hi opshannon do remember pre Covid there were many Canadians who cruised with Marella out of Jamaica on the Marella Dream, they used Sun Wing i think they are part of the TUI. group, but are you saying the Cruises out of Port Canaveral are open to U.S residence, was told by Captain Chris skipper of Discovery this year that bookings were very slow, and one reason for not returning back to the U.S next year, except for the U.S Virgin islands.
  23. Have just cruised Discovery in the Caribbean and had cabin balcony cabin 6616 a very good refurb with glass doors on shower every thing was new and worked very well, Balcony was adequate with small table and two chairs, as for wardrobes everything hung up as i would want it to be trousers and shirts fitted just right, the same with the wife,s calf length dresses no problem, i would rate this a very good cabin with no noise or vibration.
  24. Looks like your parking with ABP. dock gate 10 is your entrance through the dock gates hang a right, keep to the left Parking on the left.
