Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. How did you get upgraded to a Vista Suite. I thought the Club Orange upgrade only applied up to Balcony. We booked a obstructed balcony and upgraded to Aft balcony, on our next august Fiords cruise and it worked out about $350 less than booking at that level directly after paying the $25pp/pd. So > $700 in value for $350.
  2. Well before you jump to conclusions maybe you should read my post and maybe my user name. On a 35C/95F day in an enclosed space like a tender it get pretty downright uncomfortable and I might say even a little dangerous. This is not someone complaining that Europe should be like the US. AC might be a luxury in Europe, and I may not expect it in a restaurant or someone’s home or even in the museums we visited. However Celebrity is sell a “Modern Luxury” experience and I don’t think it is unreasonable to expect either AC in an enclosed tender or tenders to run frequently enough so that the passengers don’t get heatstroke. Given the rest of the celebrity experience it is a little surprising.
  3. I have to agree and sympathise with the original poster that Celebrity has to improve their tender service during hot weather. We just returned from the Edge and had tendering in Portofino and Cannes. This was using the Edge's own tenders. In neither case was there any noticeable AC on the tender. I could see an AC unit, but as far as I could tell it wasn't running. In Portofino the tender to ship I think was shorter so they seemed to be running the tenders fairly frequently. It was hot on board, but the tender didn't sit around and the trip was short so it was manageable. In Cannes it was 35C/95F so it was a hot day. We got to the tender and hopped on thinking based on our experience in Portofino it would leave quickly, unfortunately we ended up sitting on a hot tender with no AC and limited to no ventilation until every seat was full. About 20 minutes or so. Honestly not something I would like to do again. Why Celebrity wasn't running the AC, I don't know? We had planned on going back into Cannes for dinner since we were in port till late, but neither my wife or I was willing to go through the tender experience a 2nd time.
  4. We will be in Palma on Celebrity Edge on Aug 5th from 8 am with all aboard at 4pm. We were planning to go into Palma walk around and then take the 10:10 train to Sollar, possibly have lunch in port of Sollar and then take a cab back to Palma leaving an hour to 2 to see a bit of Palma. However I was thinking it might be best to do this in reverse. Take a cab to port of Sollar, walk around then tram to Sollar and train back to Palma. I see there are trains back at 10:50 and 12:15. If we are there by 9 at port of Sollar, is it reasonable to take the 10:50 train back which would put us in Palma by noon leaving about 3 hours for lunch and exploring before heading to the ship around 3pm opinions on if this works better are appreciated . It seems most folks do the first option, but I’m leaning towards the second.
  5. Ah, I didn't notice that. So clearly (probably) all aboard is wrong. We will plan on having some time in Cannes if we are still able to stand after a full day of touring wineries.
  6. We are on the Celebrity Edge Rome to Barcelona cruise leaving July 30th. According to the itinerary we are tendering in Cannes and will be there from 7 am to 10 pm. However on the app it has the all aboard that day at 6:30 pm. Is that typical or is it just a mistake in the app schedule. We have a full day of winery touring booked which will get us back around 4:30 or so, so we are ok to make the ship, but were planning a little time in Cannes late afternoon and early evening. That might be tight if the last tender is 6:30. It just seems a little strange to have an extended port stay and an early on board time.
