Thanks for your reply 'MANCHESTER is blue'
It sounds as if it is well worth it to book the service. I will check out the prices being offered.
We are booked on the Marella Cruise with SUNWING from Toronto.
One thing I have noticed on the booking sites is that they say 2 or 3 hours.
Do you know if they are flexible with this or if they charge more to extend your time ?.
I think we are looking at about 4 hours + at the Airport and longer if we run into weather
related flight delays due to unpredictable Winter weather in Toronto

We will be cruising on the Discovery 2. in February this year. Our flight out of Montego Bay
does not leave until late in the afternoon. I am wondering if anyone has used the airport VIP
lounge in Montego Bay?. I know from past Cruises that the long wait at the Airport can be
very uncomfortable. If anyone has used the lounge I would love to hear if you thought it
was worth booking and your opinion of the facility and the service.

Thanks kruzseeka
I checked out your previous post and will keep your advise in mind. I will see what
tours that the ship has to offer but it is good to know that it is possible to do your
own thing. Really looking forward to Havana as we have not been there before.
Only 3 more days before we cruise.

Hi Southendweather
Thanks for your reply. Brits are fine with us. We originally hailed from that part of the world.
We were on Discovery 2 last year in December and really enjoyed our cruise. As for the
weather, we have just had our first snow for the year, so this looks good to us.
I was afraid that the Ship tours might be booked up but we will check them out as soon as
we board. If it is not possible to book with them we will do something independently.
Travel safe and enjoy your cruise.

Hi Marella Cruisers
We will be flying from Canada with Sunwing to join Discovery 2 on Dec.4th. Although we have had many cruises
in the Caribbean this is the first time that we will be in Havana and would be glad of any advise you can give.
As we are not able to book excursions directly with Marella, we will have to wait until we are on the Ship. I am also hopeful that ' Southendweather ' is correct and that we have a day and a half in Havana as these were not the times
that we were originally given.
We thought that we might enjoy the Classic Car tour as an overview of the City. Does anyone know how the ship's
tours compare with one that you might pick up outside the terminal.
On the ship's tour, Do you have any choice of car and do you get one car to a couple or do they pile as many as
they can fit into each car and you have no choice. Also do you know how easy it is to find a tour off the ship and
how prices compare. Also, how easy is it to change money and to know how much you might need to change.
What would be an appropriate amount to tip driver and tour guide?
Any and all other advice that you can give for Havana would be gratefully accepted.
Many thanks

I received quite a surprise this week when I went into ROYAL GIFTS to gift myself wine for our upcoming cruise at the end of this month on the JEWEL.
The prices have increased almost 40% since last week and also an increased rate of exchange when paying in CAD$. I wonder if they have also increased prices on the ship. It would be great if anyone on the Jewel now could post the current wine list.
-
We were on Jewel in May and there were no wine packages offered. Just off Brilliance. No wine packages any more. The picture below shows wines that were offered in the MDR at 20% off. Focus seems to be on drink pkgs.

Thanks for the info. I went into ROYAL GIFTS this morning to order the wine for our cabin. NASTY SURPRISE. Prices have increased nearly 40% per bottle since last week. Also a less favourable rate of exchange when buying in CAD$ I wonder if the prices have also increased on board the ship?.
It would be great if someone on board the JEWEL now could post the current wine list.

Laura is onboard now. Not happy with MDR food. The WJ is quite nice though. Had rack of lamb last night. Crew is great

Do you know if they are offering a wine package in the MDR now. They had one when we sailed on the JEWEL last year. We will be on her again Nov.27
If there is no wine package I am thinking of gifting our wine to our cabin.
Counting the days till our cruise. Would love to hear more of your comments.

We prepaid our gratuities in CAD$ for our upcoming Nov. cruise on Jewel of the Seas. It worked out to Cad$ 122.11 each. Right now I think that this is a slightly better rate of exchange than either your Bank or Credit card will give you.
-
We will be sailing on JEWEL in Nov.
Do you know if they are still offering the 'WINE and DINE' program in the
MDR. ( 5,7,12 bottles of wine ). They were doing this last year with a 20%
discount on the first night but someone said that it may have been discontinued.
Also, If it is still available, are there any prices listed.
Thanks

Does anyone know if RCL has adjusted the exchange rate to buy OBC or
prepaid gratuities in Can. $

Thanks. I will look forward to your review. We don't sail until Nov.27th.
I am also curious to know what furniture is on the balcony and I am
wondering if they replaced the mattresses when they refurbished the ship.
We sailed on the JEWEL last Nov. and we found the beds very hard. we
had to ask our cabin steward to find us sponge mattress toppers.
Love the Jewel. I hope that you have a great cruise.
-
We have decided to go for it and are booked in this cabin for November.
Thank you all for your replying..
-
Thanks for the info. I think we will take a chance on it.
-
I am just about to confirm a booking for cabin#7172 on Jewel of the Seas. for Nov. We have never
booked an AFT cabin before. Has anyone sailed in this Cabin?. If you have I would love to hear the
Pros and Cons. Pictures would be great. Do you think that there would be a noise problem from
being over the lounge?. Any other information would be great.
-
We sailed on the Jewel in November and did take 2 bottles of wine on with us in San Juan.
We were also able to purchase a wine package in the Main Dining room. There was a 20%
discount on the first night and we paid $132.00 + gratuity ( 155.76) for a 5 bottle package. I believe there was also a package for 7 bottles. There was a choice of about 12
wines and you could change to a different wine at any time. You could drink it at dinner and they would hold any opened bottle for the next night or you could take it to your cabin.
I hope that this helps. Enjoy your cruise.
-
We didn't get the wine packages so I can't answer your questions. We did bring 4 bottles on board between our two rooms so we just brought our own bottle to the dining room. The other nights we ordered wine by the glass. It was about $7 per glass and we each had one buy one get one coupon on our sea pass cards.
Thanks for the info. We can try to do the same.
-
You did reply to YAYA that there were wine packages on board. We will
be sailing on the JEWEL from San Juan on Nov.8. Are these packages for
a selection of wine by the bottle or by the Glass.? If bottles, can you drink
it anywhere on the ship or just in the dining room.? Sorry to be a pest but
we do like to have a glass of wine on our balcony. Also, Do you have any
idea of the prices.
Thanks a lot

Thanks for the suggestions.
Air Canada will only check bags 3hrs prior to flight .
Will consider renting a car. Sounds like a good idea.
-
Thanks chrysalas, At least that would take care of our luggage until 5.30pm

We will be sailing on the Princess Royal next week and I am so grateful to the cc community and especially Dave and Benny for all the great reviews, pictures and suggestions they have posted about the ship. This is our 20th cruise, but our first with Princess and the cc forum has answered most of our questions about the ship and we can hardly wait to board. I hope that some cc members will have some suggestions regarding our post cruise problem.
At the end of the cruise we have a pre-arranged thansfer to Fort Lauderdale Airport but our Air Canada flight back to Toronto is not until 10.20pm. I have heard that there is a service at the Airport that will store your luggage for the day.(I think that it is called Bags to Go).Has anyone used this service or know how it works? or I would appreciate any other suggestions about how best to spend the day or about what to do with our luggage until our flight chech-in time.

Thank you all for replying to my inquiry. I will definitely be going ahead
with booking the lounge.
Looking out my window today at the snow, I can't wait for our week in the sun.
