  1. "A direct flight in the aviation industry is any flight between two points by an airline with no change in flight numbers, which may include one or more stops at an intermediate point(s)." So yes flights to Greece are possible. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Direct_flight
  2. Well I can't see how last year will give us any indication of what this year will look like.
  3. Oh I know. My partner swims in Sydney in the middle of winter, while I'm at home sitting near the heater.
  4. And by Northern Australia it would have to be far north. I went to Noosa, Queensland in winter and I found it way too cold to swim.
  5. Yes I wish someone would contact her and tell her she is liable if she had symptoms and didn't go to the ship's doctor or self-isolate. That would shut her up. These people have no idea. I bet she signed up for the class action. When I worked in a restaurant this woman threatened to sue us because she choked on a bit of alfalfa. Seriously? On what grounds would that be I wanted to ask. For putting edible food in a salad?
  6. Lol ! These kinds of people make me embarrassed when I say I like cruising.
  7. Yes but I remember Dr Chant saying that - maybe to calm everyone down? Going into damage control?
  8. From the article again: "On the way back, the ship's senior physician, Dr Ilse Von Watzdorf, wrote in an email to NSW Health: "It seems we are in the early stages of an influenza A outbreak." But the message being delivered to concerned passengers was very different. "They just kept reassuring you all the time, 'this ship is virus-free'." Ms Temple said." This Ms Temple comes across as your typical ACA participant: uniformed, clueless and misunderstands everything. Those statements do not contradict each other." I'd like to hear Brandee's opinion.
  9. No Dr Chant at a press conference said the ambulances were called for other health issues.
  10. It is true though, and the onboard doctor freely admitted she forgot. I would have thought she would be a bit more cagey of she was trying to hide something?
  11. From the linked article: "I panicked and went and tried to find somebody from the cruise ship." Alarmed, she found a crew member. "I said to her, 'I would like to ask you a question. I am a kidney and pancreas transplant patient. I want to know if it's safe for myself and my mother to get onto this cruise?' "She said that the cruise ship would not let one passenger, let alone all passengers, be put at risk if it wasn't safe to sail," Ms Temple said." In the words, of Basil Fawtly, "you might as well ask the cat". If I had complex health problems, I think I might ask someone with you know, some kind of medical background. The "crew member" could be have been the cook for all we know. No sympathy here. Nevertheless, who knew at that stage? They're all talking from hindsight.
  12. I saw a promo for Monday night's episode of ABC's Four Corners on the Ruby Princess. The promo was very sensationalist. I was actually surprised when it turned out to be Four Corners.
  13. I would like to add that we did a scenic flight over the GBR from Airlie beach. If you have limited time, it is well worth it to see it from the air. We booked the flights independently as booking through the cruise line was far more expensive. I highly recommend a scenic flight. And you can cancel 24 hours before if you need to.
