  1. We just did Norway on the Anthem, we have a 13 year old and a 8 year old.   This is our third cruise sailing out of Southampton.

We had a AMAZING time and absolutely loved it.   I am confused why they are putting Independence there as it's not much of a cold weather ship, and yes it was COLD even in June.

We also LOVE London and highly recommend the Clermont Charing Cross if you decide on that sailing.   We find it better to visit London after the cruise since we fly in from Orlando it's easier and you are acclomated to the time zone when you get there and makes it easier.

We stay at the Room2 Southampton and it's great for a family of 4.   Any questions let me know;)

Did he still beg for a 10 though!?

Yes they sure did, the only morning we had breakfast in the Dining room someone came around with a clipboard asking us what scores we were going to give.

It was very weird and uncomfortable.

How about that last sea day with the Salmon from Stavanger, with 10's all around it.   LOL

Same cruise, we had MTD. No times or table allocation on our cards.

    Hey there:)

Definitely weird, we obviously reverted to assigned time and I never knew it as the app said I had mytime dining and I had reservations.

His comments are what threw me off!

  4. We were on the June 14th sailing and here is what happened to us on Anthem.

We had MYTIME, I had reservations for one night in the dining room as we were in a JS and ate in the Coastal Kitchen the other nights.

We showed up at 7:30pm for our reservation and were seated right away, no problem.

Shortly after we sat down the Maitre D came to our table and started asking why we were late and pointed out my card said 7pm and kept asking why we had not been in the main dining room all week, which I explained we had been eating in the CK.

He then went on and on about how we had to be there at the time on our card, when I showed him we had the mytime reservations in our app he explained that they NO longer had mytime dining and things are changing to the times on the card (There was time on my card, but I never even noticed it as we had mytime and I had reservations)

Needless to say we did not go back to the main dining room after that.

For those in the local area, still no details on actual arrival time.

Port Canaveral, Florida is planning a community celebration for the arrival of Royal Caribbean's Utopia of the Seas cruise ship on July 11, 2024:
    • Jetty Park: The public will be invited to Jetty Park to watch the ship sail in.

    • Naming ceremony: There will be a naming ceremony before the ship's first revenue sailing on July 19, 2024

The naming ceremony cruise will be the 15th to the 18th.

  6. We bounce back and forth between Royal and MSC.

We find them more alike than they are different, we just sailed Anthem to Norway and the food was just meh however the cruise was FANTASTIC!

We have sailed both in and out of the Yacht Club, and we really enjoy the experience on both cruise lines.

We really enjoyed the Duplex on the Virtuosa, but also enjoy CL suites on Oasis class ships.

We go into every cruise with an open mind and go with the flow.

  7. Good Morning from Southampton.

I have not done a live in a LONG time and figured it was time to do one.

We arrived in Southampton on Wednesday morning from Orlando and had a few days to adjust to the time difference.

Woke up this morning and it’s CRUISE day.

This is our second time on this beautiful ship so we know what to expect here at City Cruise terminal.

Late last night we did get notified that our first stop of Haugesund was replaced with Bergen, we are totally ok with this change as I wanted to go there to begin with.

I promise to post pics, videos, and comments and try to answer as many questions as possible over the week.

Thanks for coming along with our family on this cruise.

If you have sailed MSC in Europe and the Caribbean, was your experience as good in Europe?

We just got back from the Virtuosa in Europe, and yes I would say it was the same if not a little better.

Thanks for the response.  I really like this idea a lot.  We've never been to the UK and would really like to find a cruise that isn't so long that we are left with no time to explore afterwards.  This seems like a great option.

Regarding the inattentive butler you mention in your video, we are just off MSC Seaside and experienced the same issues with our butler.  Have been on other sailings were the butler was at our beck and call.  I think it's more about the luck of the draw than location but I could be way off on that.

From the background in your video it appears that the Virtuosa is in the same class as Meraviglia.  Is that correct?  I'm still learning the classes.  I wasn't aware they had YC rooms outside the YC complex but I like the YC spaces a little better than the Seaside class.

    Again, thanks for posting!

Yes correct, but it does have a few differences that you notice if you have sailed the Meraviglia.

Nothing big though, she is a beauty.   The one thing that was WEIRD to me was the elevator system!

It was different, but so hard to explain.

We absolutely love the UK especially London, this was our third time there in 12 months, we just cant get enough of it.

I have to ask, did you go across the pond for more than just this 5 night sailing on MSC and if so, would you mind sharing what all you did while there?

    Hi There,

We arrived in Southampton on Saturday morning for a Monday sailing.   We spent the weekend exploring beautiful Southampton.

After the cruise we spent 3 days in London.    This was our third time in London in the last 12 months, we love it there and did a lot of new things this visit.

  11. Hello All,

I have started combing through our videos from our first Yacht Club experience onboard the beautiful MSC Virtuosa.

We traveled from Orlando FL to the UK for this five day sailing in the Yacht Club.   The first first video we filmed onboard as a quick recap of our initial experience as we boarded and some other details onboard.

I will post our day one video once it is done in the next few days, and of course if anyone has any questions please let me know as I am always happy to help and share my thoughts.

I too was in YC in a deluxe suite and lost my nice cabin. I ended up back in YC but directly under the pool deck buffet so every morning they dragged all that furniture they put away the night before and set it up.

After I saw your post yesterday I paid it.  Didn't want to risk getting to Southampton next Sat and getting a cancellation email out of the blue two days before the cruise.

    I am much less stressed:)

I have had this happen as well.  Was told I am all set, just to get a cancellation email a few days prior to sailing for non payment.

We lost our cabin and perks.

Had to pay the extra money and was put back on but lost $200 OBC.

MSC would not do anything. They did remove the DSC to compensate me for the OBC. So they screwed the crew over.  90 days later never got the overcharge back so did a credit card dispute.

Stay on top of it.  Ask the TA to have MSC send you a current confirmation to be safe. You are not sailing with MSC united states', keep that in mind.

UGGGGGH this is exactly what I am afraid of and this alone right here makes me want to pay it and fight it later.

We are going to Europe next week and they keep telling him we are paid in full, but I have this fear of this happening.   We are in the YC in a duplex and the moment that cancels (If it does) it will go to a bid and the YC is full.

  14. Hello All,

We are going on the May 29th sailing on the Virtuoso and I have been pain in full since March.

Today when I logged into the website I noticed the COMPLETE PAYMENT was there and it shows I owe 837.41 which there is NO way since I made final payment.

I called my TA right away and he called and confirmed with them we are PAID in full and they sent him an invoice showing show.

I also called and they helped me and also confirmed they show me paid in full.

I dont want to show up to the pier in Southampton on the 29th and have any issues at all, so I am wondering has anyone seen this before?

    It's driving me crazy.

We are checked in and I have all the boarding documents and everything else seems normal on the site, am I a victim on the dreaded MSC IT?
