Mexico is awesome and the people are wonderful.  Outside the big cities the law is compromised.  Mexico has done a lot for tourism and tourists.  Some years ago we stopped in Mazatlan....after a few years of no cruises there.  We walked to downtown from the port and traveled by bus and taxi.  Police everywhere.  Did not feel unsafe one bit.  We also hired a taxi to go to Merida on the other side on another cruise.  Great day.  Mexicans love Americans and our tourist $$.  They are a warm and welcoming people as a whole.

Mexico is full of CORRUPTION!  You cannot trust the police.  I know people that have been robbed and my last Mexico cruise bypassed Mazatlan.  Ii is a big city!  Some  El Chapo stuff that was going on.  They worship him in Mazatlan and he is a murderer many times over.  They worship him or did befire he was in prison because they are POOR and he would give them money.  There are or were idols of him around that people worshiped.   Again, if it’s so great, why aren’t the Americans at the border trying to get in there.  ANSWER:  Because it is not!  Americans only praise it on here because it is a CHEAP vacation !

My experience differs greatly from yours.

I love to visit Mexico most especially the Yucatan region (so much history to see). I have spent a number of weeks there, the people are so lovely.

There are many countries which suffer from poor quality drinking water, however I definitely don’t feel like I am risking my health or life in Mexico

I can’t imagine why we are having a problem at the border.  You make Mexico sound glorious.  Why are the citizens all trying to leave?  BTW, I was not referring to the Yucatán, I was referring to the fact that Mexico may be more amenable to having cruises leave from there.  Why would one want to  go to the country with lesser restrictions?

The pot is about to boil over with other states looking at Florida and Texas and wondering why they are suffering ridiculous restrictions. Today Sen. Paul, himself a medical doctor, raked Fauci over the coals for his silly stance of wearing two masks, and Fauci could not explain why those vaccinated and those who recovered from Covid-19 had to wear a mask. We all saw John Kerry ignoring mask rules on American Airlines. With the charts dropping fast as the vaccinations cover more of the population July sailings could well be at hand.

Cruises have been operating and theme parks open around the world without any meaningful difficulty since last July. The CDC will be hard pressed to enforce their rules from last fall much longer.

Paul didn’t appear to be too much of a Dr one might want to follow since he knowingly exposed many of his senate colleagues when he knew he had Covid and refused to wear a mask then.  If you choose to disagree with Fauci, you may, but I would not put your money or your life on Rand Paul!

Which cruisers would not be happy, other than those wanting to make choices for others? And, regarding the ports, I'm guessing most will open up out of sheer economic necessity.  But we'll see.  It's not our decision.

After a year of this, you still don’t get that this is not all about you!  It is about all the others around you and your statement about only obese people getting it is beyond ignorant.  Many have died and had long term illness that are not obese.  You must live in a hole if you don’t know any.  I do.

It was on the news yesterday and I am not sure why I can't see it elsewhere that Biden said there will be enough vaccines in the US for everyone eligible to be vaccinated by the end of May. Reading a little between the lines, I would assume Novavax is going to be approved in the next few weeks. That gives us Moderna, Pfizer, J&J, and Novavax.

We can draw a few assumptions and conclusions from this. First assumption is Biden's comment is accurate. Even though I swing slightly more across the center line to the other side, I think this statement is fairly accurate. Second assumption is that Odyssey is successful in May for RCL. This will prove the protocols work. Add in the other ships sailing, it is enough evidence to prove the point. These lead me to believe that June 1 could be the start of cruising in the US with the same requirements. I don't believe there would need to be any restrictions on a ship for capacity. However, I think the cruise lines would agree to it just to sail. I think limiting it to 2/3 capacity would be more than enough.

    1. Everyone that can be vaccinate must be vaccinated
    2. Those that cannot be vaccinated agree to negative covid test 3 days prior to embarkation, daily temperature checks, and take at a covid test mid-cruise.

There can be no exceptions if all cruisers are required to be vaccinated.  If you can’t get vaccinated, you don’t cruise!

So in 2 years the 13 year old may or may not be vaccinated as it's not approved in children yet. If there is still no approval in 2 years and Royal allows children to sail unvaccinated do you stay home or go with them?

I have never said the vaccine causes infertility lol, I think you have that part confused with someone else. If it does though I guess I no longer need that vasectomy......

I gave the age that they will be in 2 years and there will be vaccines fir children by the first quarter of 2022 and possibly before as per Fauci and experts.  Trials on children have been going on for awhile.  I will not go on a cruise with unvaccinated people or children.  I will cancel if this isn’t resolved.  I WOULD  NOT Be the one taking my unvaccinated grandchildren on.  Will you?

I really do hope it won't be the case to get children vaccinated to be able to cruise. It is one thing for my husband and I to get it but there is absolutely no way will I get my teenage daughter to get vaccine. As I have expressed in a previous post, my fears are IF it causes infertility and no one knows the answer to that right now even though some have said it doesn't who actually 100% knows... no-one. So I would not risk it for my daughter so she has the choice about children in to the future. so its a deal breaker for us... no cruising at all if that is the case.

I thought that I might have missed something, but I did not.  I just checked on the Covid vaccine causing infertility.  NO EVIDENCE!  Where did u get this from?  Did you daughter get a measles, DPT, or a flu shot.  No more likelihood of infertility here.  My next cruise is 12/22 with my grandchildren, who have all had Covid and will all be getting vaccinated.  I will not be on a ship with your unvaccinated daughter!

Unfortunately, this may be the only way that the cruise lines will be able to sail again.  However, there will be loss of business on both sides: from those that can't (or won't) get the vaccine and those of us that do.  Those that don't get the vaccine may not be crazy about going on a ship until all restrictions are lifted.  However, there will be others who won't go on a cruise unless the vaccine is mandated.  It's a lose-lose for the cruise lines.

I believe that requiring vaccination will be much less of a hurdle if all cruise lines require it.  It will be accepted if one wants to cruise and has no choice.

I do think that Crystal and Saga, Saga also has two large ships, so Crystal was not the first with large ships,  could portend a vaccination requirement. Both those lines are niche cruise lines. Certainly mainstream cruise lines are thinking about it.  I personally would favor Royal Caribbean having a vaccination requirement.

    Same here.

Me too and I am astounded that everyone on here doesn’t want to be on a ship where every passenger has been vaccinated.  I do not think that the mainstream cruise lines will allow any unvaccinated passengers.  The last thing they want us an outbreak.  I don’t think that they will sail before kids are vaccinated, but remember their largest demographic will be vaccinated, those over 65 with $!

Yeah, I'm not sure how applicable the ADA is for a couple reasons.

First, the actual disabilities that medically prevent mask usage are really narrow.  Mostly basically psychiatric issues.  All the specialty physicians groups recommend masks for people with respiratory issues, as they are particularly at risk of COVID, and their disease is not a contraindication to mask usage.

Second, It's a health issue.  It puts others customers' health and safety at risk, so pretty sure businesses are allowed to deny entry based on masks, even if disability prevents their use based on safety reasons.

    from CDC:

I feel there is a REALLY REALLY EASY low hanging fruit of a joke in there just waiting to get made, but probably crosses the line on forum rules.

Costco does not let anyone in without a mask.  If you have a health issue, you order online!

I will answer that. Those who have and will be vaccinated (myself included) will be doing their part for our country to reach safe herd immunity. Once our population reaches herd immunity, we will see our lives go back to normal. Until that happens, our lives will be altered from the normal we all have known pre-Covid.

The more people who are NOT vaccinated, the more the Covid virus will mutate. The more people who are vaccinated, the mutations of the virus will be stopped in their tracks.

Call me selfish that I want to see our country reach herd immunity SAFELY and see our great country back to the normal we all once knew. Anti-vaxxers will not allow this to occur if there are enough people who refuse the vaccine.

I completely agree.  Sign me up for the totally vaccinated ship.  NO EXCEPTIONS!  In many cases people use the “I can’t wear a mask” as an excuse because they don’t want to.  (Often political). Costco let people get away with that for a while, but no more.  No mask, no Costco .  There must be hard rules without exception for the good of the herd.  We’re not putting the untaxed people in prison, just off the cruise ship!

I've already gotten my first shot.....my sister has significant allergies and has been told by her doctor to NOT get the shot. She would like to re-enter society, but this blight that you all put upon her is, IMHO, unjust. To treat her like a leper because of a health issue, which she certainly didn't ask for, makes me shake my head. She is not "selfish" for not getting the shot, she isn't "trying to kill you" by not getting the shot....she just doesn't want the shot to potentially kill her.

How does she safely re-enter society (or cruise)? (I ask this to the "no vaccine, no cruise" folk)

She does not cruise!  I am planning on a cruise with all passengers vaccinated and no exceptions.  She’s not going to prison, just not cruising!

Kids dont need a vaccine because they dont spread it anywhere near as much as adults and they arent affected by the virus in terms of illness. If all the adults have the vaccine there is no need to vaccinate kids. Highly contagious adults are the problem because their viral shedding is so high they can infect 20 people easily. The vaccine is around 70% effective at stopping infection and 95% effective at preventing serious illness and 100% effective against death.

There really isnt much to debate here. Get the jab remove restrictions and away we go. The issue might be staff on board but there will be millions of spare vaccines in the UK soon enough so that might help.

This  is totally WRONG!  I can go with the part about kids not getting a severe case, but why do you think schools are closed?  It is because they bring it home to their grandparents!  There should  be vaccines for children available by the end of the year.  I don’t believe cruising will start before they have one available.

This is exactly what I would do if I ran Carnival. I would make a deal with Mexico on becoming a home port for Caribbean cruises and start working out some airfare deals to include in cruise prices. Free covid testing before flying back and a quarantine guarantee just like the AI resorts are doing in Mexico. The CDC in the US has drug their feet for far too long. If I can go to Walmart and Disney, I can cruise. Heck, even movie theaters are back open here and airlines never closed. I had to fly last month on a full plane with a person seated on each side of me.

IMO, you are living recklessly.  Mexico was not a safe place before Covid and I certainly wouldn’t trust that  country with anything to do with my health now!  It is not really safe to go to the grocery store now as per my Dr.  I do not and Disney and flying would definitely be out!

It is all about choices. Would you rather sail on a ship that everyone has been vaccinated or one that are only partially vaccinated or nobody vaccinated? Will the ports be happy to welcome cruises with vaccinated crew and passengers or ones that arent. Once herd immunity is achieved, then the requirements will change but until then, if you want to cruise you get the vaccination. We are already seeing the effects of the vaccine on reported cases having gone down significantly and they have just started.

    I so agree!

this really irritates me... I will not get the vaccine but I don't say anything like that to those that want the vaccine... as it is everyones choice. My thoughts are it would be nice for everyone to be able to enjoy the things in life they love and want to do like holidays, cruising, going out for dinner, meeting friends and family.  it seems on cc some people think the people who don't get the vaccine are selfish ... but I don't think so ... people have various reasons why they don't want to have it. and that is their choice, same as it is yours to get it. however just cos you will have the vaccine and you want cruise lines to refuse those that don't , I think that comment is selfish. I love cruising too and would love to be cruising again but I don't think It will happen due to all restrictions and vaccines... but I am fine with that now as that is my choice

This is not a disease that allows for personal choice.  It is not your choice to make the rest of us unsafe.  It is selfish to refuse to get a vaccine and that is the only way to stop these mutations.  I am so sick of hearing people saying that is personal choice to wear a mask.  That is the height of “Selfish” to endanger others.  I believe and hope that vaccines will be mandatory and you should too!
