  1. I wouldnt schedule a new cruise under the proposed rules, but we have one already scheduled for April, rebooked after last April was cancelled, and will deal with it for that one. I think the testing part will be hard to make work properly. Just in the past week look at that ship in Greece, TWELVE people were told they tested positive, only to find out oops, false positive, sorry, you are fine. Same thing happened at a local school here. Kid tested positive, panicked everyone, shut down the school, mayhem in the streets........and yesterday, oops, false positive, sorry. Our whole family is scheduled to cruise in April, 11 of us. If one tests at the dock or whenever and is told no, and since we are together none of us can go, then after the ship leaves they find its a false positive, Im not promising there wont be a scene.
  2. Ive heard of people loading it then just making a couple plays on the slot machine then cashing out. I guess that still equals a few minutes !
  3. Not sure why they dont just shut down any booking of any itinerary until they know whats going on. I guess other than the fact that when someone books a cruise they can "use" that money until the cruise is cancelled but then they have to give people something for the inconvenience so seems to me they arent really gaining anything.
  4. Hoping you are correct!! Thats out next scheduled cruise.
  5. Exactly how it should be all along. Those that are not ready then thats their choice. Those that are ok with it or in a position to do so, then have at it. Personal responsibility to make your own choices and deal with any consequences that may come along.
  6. Absolutely not! I refuse to let fear ruin something we love to do such as this. As the saying goes, this too shall pass. Just as other pandemics and epidemics ride off into the sunset so shall this one.
  7. Sad to see this one go away. It was our favorite itinerary. We had this one on our short list of cruises to replace our cancelled one back in April. Glad we didnt choose it or we would again be looking to reschedule! I guess I can see them taking the older ship away but not the itinerary. It seems they can always fill up a ship here. They know something that isnt obvious to the public apparently!
  8. This is pretty much exactly what Ive been wondering. We have had to wait in an outside line at Ports such as Grand Cayman, even Miami. Being from VT we arent used to the HOT temps and wondered how being in line in the sun would affect a thermometer pointed at our forehead. I dont think those simple devices are able to tell the difference from a true temperature or standing in 90*+ heat for a lengthy time with the sun beating down on you.
  9. We rebooked for April 2021. Was feeling confident on that but as the days/weeks go on, that confidence is dropping.
  10. I am able to log into UPS and sign digitally so I dont have to be there upon delivery.
  11. It has been reported many times that it is over the entire company, not just CCL ships being retired.
  12. If masks become required attire, our cruising will be over.
  13. Thats great! I have a message in to my PVP asking why ours wasnt transferred.
  14. April 2021. Paid in full with the FCC from our cancelled cruise!
  15. It is my understanding that if you have Carnival's insurance, it is not refundable or transferable. People with private insurance have had luck transferring it over to a new cruise. Just like any other insurance, you pay for it but if you dont use it you cant get refunded. Your insurance started the day you bought it.
  16. Not even going to look at cruises before fall but even then, I dont believe we will have this thing stopped. Hoping so, but dont believe so. Looks like our plan now is to reschedule something for next Spring and then hope.....
  17. We arent considering anything until at least fall at this point. That being said, Im not pulling the trigger on any cruise until the country is back so some resemblance of normal. Just because a cruise line says its safe and they are going to go doesnt mean it is and doesnt mean any of the destinations will be open for business either.
  18. Carnivals website shows no cruises before May 12 now. Looks like they've made their decision. Id expect to hear soon. Does anyone know, if I booked my cruise thru the website, can I call my PVP to assist with the cancellation stuff?
  19. I have a feeling that July is the best guess for cruises and anything else to start settling down and returning to normal. I have 3 concerts in August that I really dont want to miss! Need some positive fun after all this! Been bad enough missing our April cruise!
  20. We are scheduled on an April 11 cruise right now. We arent going as my wife would have to be on 2 week quarantine when she returns before her work will let her come back. Im expecting Carnival and others to keep the shutdown going so waiting for them to cancel as the "offer" will be better than if I cancel now. We are tossing around dates now as to when we might reschedule but just cant be sure when this stuff will be over with. I will say if anyone schedules or plans to go on a cruise in the next couple months, BE SURE your travel AND personal insurance will cover you if something goes wrong. Ive seen a few already say that if you go against the recommendations of the CDC etc, they will not cover you if something happens.
  21. Have a great time! I dont believe you will regret your decision.
  22. Im scheduled for 4/11. I wont be able to go as my wife's job has imposed a mandatory 14 day quarantine when we would return. Im holding out waiting to see if Carnival will cancel as the offers seem to be better at that point vs cancelling on our own.
  23. Based on itinerary, Id do the Fascination. No comparison. BIG difference in the ships. There is so much island time on the Fascination that we didnt even have an issue with it being smaller or older. Though we do prefer smaller ships too.
  24. That makes perfect sense. Why didnt I think of that!! Thank you.
