  1. Dover port in June is very different to Dover port in late July and August. Much less busy. Also....side note on UK taxis....we had a fare hike nationally on the 1st of August.
  2. Maybe they could switch to British style bacon.... Although with its higher meat content it could be pricier.
  3. I also recommend a full transit....you feel like you got the whole shebang.
  4. It's not just my debark flight it's my arrival one too. I wondered if it was a time difference thing but it still does it when I use a US vpn. carnival said to not book flights before noon...mine is 12.55pm so I don't think it's that.
  5. We saw a rather drunk group run down to the ship in Cairns. Found out from other cruisers later they had been on an organised bar crawl. Plot twist: They weren't even late.
  6. Im.not using Carnival for my flights but as our flight leaves New Orleans at 12.55 on debark day I want them to know we have an early flight to get off early. Or can I go to guest services in board and discuss this? We will have our own luggage with us.
  7. Ive finished online check in apart from this so I wouldn't be able to edit after.
  8. Hi Completed most of my online check in but having massive problems with entering our flights. First it can't find our flights then when I try and enter them manually it keeps changing our times to hours before it after. It's stopping me finishing check in. Really frustrated. Any advice? Thanks
  9. Honestly Carnival is good in Europe. Even if they have disagreement shuttles the savings on your booking Jul that anyway. It's all about the ports anyway and that part of the cruise is pretty much the same for all. Carnival delivered for us on everything else too. The differences between lines are minimal really when it comes down to it.
  10. Hi We are due to cruise out of NOLA in the Sunday and fly out for our 7 day cruise on the Thursday. We have a direct flight that leaves London at 4pm in the afternoon. We have just found out there is a covid testing place by the airport and it offers tests all day. If we booked a mid day test in London at 12 would this count as our pre cruise test? It would be taken at 6am NOLA time. That's still 3 days right? Thank you
  11. Controversial one but don't take your moaner/grumpy associate with you. I also take food on a cruise as my husband is t1 diabetic and we use certain carbed cereal bars for his supper or when he's low. I also take my supplement bars.
  12. Ok, I still think CCL do a fine job in Europe and have sailed with 4/5 lines of that group.
  13. Hi Booked proctored/virtually viewed qured tests based in the UK. Allowed for time difference. I believe qured also operates in the U S so wanted to know if they had been used by anyone. Surely they will be fine?
  14. As a European that has done European cruises with Carnival and also with other lines all have been comparable. My fellow brits also enjoyed Carnival. Carnival's issue is they have no presence or advertising here and other lines have dominated for so long it's now quite hard to make their presence known. Prices have always been great though. People forget that Carnival Corp know this cruising area well through their other lines. They simply pass that on to Carnival cruises but don't really mind having 1 ship here because all their other lines are plentiful in these parts. MSC are still trying to win over English speaking cruisers while keeping some of their med flair. Great prices there too. I avoid P&O and Marella personally. I live in the UK so don't need overtly British cruising experiences. If anyone is really worried about transfers my advice is to book a last minute overnight in Dover. Not the best seaside of the UK but enough to peek at in the morning before boarding. An acquaintance of mine lives a few towns over from Dover and has reported much reduced queues but still delays which is to be expected.
  15. it counted as a medical exemption so would probably be the same across the board.
  16. Thanks! Oh I can't have too much caffeine! Unless they do good decaf? Might put rum in my milkshakes. 😄
  17. We also are getting cheers for the first time since Carnival offered the cheers to you for our upcoming cruise. It's the first time I've seen them offer a discounted drinks rate with a booking and if we bought 2 decent drinks per day without the rate it would be the same cost. I think the cheers package is over priced in its normal state and would not buy it on its own. Talking of NCL, we got a great rate with them that included drinks and alsorts. Loved it.
  18. We dined with a couple where the husband had the drinks package and the wife didn't as she was pregnant. This was Legend Europe.
  19. I know this will come at a price but could you book a private appointment with a private hospital, have a discussion them in person about this and get them to write a letter? You could then take it to your gp and get in NHS typed. it will not be your gp but it will be a letter from a doctor. Check with the cruise line of it has to be your g p. I had a private hospital appt in January and the consultation cost £180 and they write a letter as part of that for my regular gp. failing that try and get in contact with the medical Secretary at your practice?
  20. Hi Just got a scary email saying if I don't do vaccine thing my cruise will be cancelled. Do Carnival mean the 1 tick box exercise on the website of the verify thing. I have done the tick box exercise for both cruisers as we are both fully vaccinated.
  21. Haha I do like rum but I like a good beer on a cruise and not a tasteless macro. Thank you for the responses. I have some options it seems.....I like Carnival's Caribbean wheat so nice to see it in a can.
  22. I have to agree about Marella. We don't cruise British lines anyway but all of our acquaintances and family that have cruised with them disliked them and we convinced them to try other lines. I often recommend Royal or NCL for first time cruisers as they both have a good rep all over the world as they know their markets well. NCL in particular are known for great European cruises. We love both.
