  1. We haven't actively avoided MSC....just preferred other sailings on other lines as of this moment. We have found itineraries on Holland we liked but said no because it was HAL. Not booking a line yet is very different to refusing/actively avoiding.
  2. Hey Was just wondering if you can get any decent Craft beer or IPA brews on the Glory out of NOLA. I know there's no red frog but do Carnival still get in cans like Cigar city etc? Failing that, let's hope Ccl still stock Blue moon. Thanks
  3. I read a few years back Carnival's typical cruiser was an American in their 50s with a certain political standpoint. I am certainly not that but even in the UK I am probably not most lines target market either. Who knows. We have just booked a shorter 7 day carnival cruise out of NOLA so it will be fun to see how different it is to our longer Carnival voyages. Not added it to my signature yet but Princess are the only line we sailed post covid. We were quite impressed with them. I would just put them above Celebrity but would happily sail with both again. The only mainstream line we have actively avoided is Holland America so far. I always imagine we are a little too young but I could be wrong.
  4. Glad to hear its getting better. Back in 2013 we boarded really easily at 11.00 but things have changed I guess. Transport to Dover is now better but there will always be some delays due to the summer season. Schools broke up last week and will go back first week in September. Dover in June is very different to Dover in late July and August.
  5. We usually like to eat around 7 but it depends. I don't mind getting a beeper and wandering off to get another drink. We'll also happily share a table....especially if it means instant seating.
  6. In the UK we have some empty shelves but it has improved. Food prices have increased rapidly though....that is the most notable.
  7. Sailed on her twice 8 years ago and love her layout and passenger ratio. Just wanted to add that if you've booked an interior cabin look into booking a deck 4 obstructed cabin. When we have booked these they have been hardly much more money and are bigger, have natural light have a balcony layout and are super quiet. If you get lucky and book one between lifeboats even more view! Also the themed corridor that wraps around the theatre is an awesome spot for quiet table games and other stuff. Serenity got full by 8. Clamshells were gone at 7.
  8. They said London to Dover shuttle took 3.5 hrs not the boarding process. I took the mess comment to mean Dover isn't very pretty. It really isn't except the cliffs and beach. 3.5 hours London to Dover in the busy channel crossing season with staff shortages isn't too bad of a time. It's normally 2 hoursish in off season.
  9. We just booked really late and got ytd thank goodness. I don't understand why anyone would book set dining unless in a big group.
  10. Argh! Onpoint don't let him US peeps register on their site. Azova do but don't let me search places in New Orleans that sell them.
  11. Also Dover port is experiencing huge delays and massive road queues stretching for hours as usual this time of year. Amplified by staff shortages and most UK schools breaking up this week. This Dover delay will be happening until early September so if you have booked the Pride be very wary forgetting to port on the day by road.
  12. Hey Just tried to do a few mock bookings on 2 different devices on different cruises. Says there is an issue and to call. Anyone else?
  13. Thanks for the replies all. I am really sensitive to shuddery afts. Get a bit sick for some reason. I've been known to avoid aft dining rooms on many occasions. A friend of mine who is a royal cruiser said room stewards put pillows between doors and used masking tape to help with noise. Anyone know if carnival does this too? Oddly, My husband sails with duct tape in case his case breaks so we could do it ourselves I guess.
  14. Just wanted to weigh in on this as a Brit who knows that port well and has sailed out of it on the pride's sister a few years back. That cruise was truly stunning. Baltic cruise. Most of your points would completely annoy me too but I'm just going to pick up a few points. 1) Dover is rarely used as an actual cruise port and is mainly used as a channel crossing port. It doesn't really have a proper terminal due to this and in U.K.terms isn't really close to London. Disney and cruise lines that were too late/too cheap to book Southampton use it. It's an awful dump of a town only known for its continental links and white cliffs. 2) Of course the drinking offers are different. It's Europe. I don't see why this is a thing. However, if your cruise is anything like my ones in Europe then you can bring as much booze back into the ship as you want. 3) I have found a large amount of diamond and platinum cruisers on both my long Europe Carnival cruises and my unusual long Panama one. All 3 of these had over half of the cruisers as this. This will equal longer priority lines. 4) Today has been milder than UK summer weather after our heatwave. However, many many Europeans would have no worries swimming in none heated pools this time of year. I can remember our Baltic cruise on the Legend and floating about in the pool along with the Italians and Russians and my fellow countrymen while US folk looked on. This was our sea day on the way to Copenhagen. If you want to swim in northern Europe you gotta brace for colder water.
  15. Thank you There are only connecting oceanviews left and one non connecting main deck 2 aft cabin which I don't want to book as I've heard lower aft vibrate like nothing else. The ship is the Glory btw.
  16. How bad is the noise on connecting cabins on conquest class ships? It seems there are two doors as the connection from YouTube videos I've seen. Been assigned one and can't change as all other cabins are also this type.
  17. I love NCL, Royal and CCL about the same tbh. have no loyalty to any line. I keep considering Cunard every so often as they have the last ocean liner.
  18. My husband gets sick of diet coke too. Belgium, France and the Netherlands are quite good with sugar free these days.
  19. Maybe it's different in the UK and to the countries I've been to but I see lots of low carb drink options here. Not been to Germany since 2013. Married to a type 1 diabetic and we always take no sugar squash or sachets. He also always orders wine and Manhattans/old fashioneds onboard.
  20. We can't see anything that makes them super different from general cruiselines....bar the buffet thing and having a tattoo parlour. We might be their target market (30s professional couple...no kids) although maybe not as we like cruising in general. Every week we watch it and say the same thing. It is clever branding to what is another cruise line....nothing too different.
  21. Thanks all. It's annoying not having FTTF when we really need it. Might just have to go to guest services and register our flight time if you can still do that.
