  1. It is not on the end and not directly in the center. I believe that it was one off from the center as you can guess from the Havana area picture which would be center. The balcony is larger than shown. There is a full size lounger that is behind where I was taking the picture. Our door was at the end of the hall. There is a short hallway that goes to the end with maybe a room. I looked in the room next to the hallway on debarkation day when the door was open. Boy, was that room small. There is a good size step up into the bathroom. I had to be very careful of going in and out, but no accidents so it was manageable. Keep the curtains closed when not using them for the view. It helps with the AC. I have read reports of Horizon having hot spots. This room was good, but we kept the curtains closed when not looking out. That helps with AC more than people realize. No noise problems at all. One deck up to the buffet area. You will love this room.
  2. Our cruise is in May. We have booked at the Ilikai condo for 3 days prior to the cruise. I will let you know how it goes.
  3. How busy is the Honolulu airport for departures after the cruise ships dock? I am thinking of 4:30 pm departure with excursion prior to that. What time do we need to be at the airport if there is no fast track TSA?
  4. Sorry, Paula_MacFan, I did misunderstand you. I am thinking of the departure excursion that NCL provides with a tour of Pearl Harbor on the way to the airport. I have not booked air yet, but I am looking at 4:30 pm departure on day that cruise ends. How busy is the airport at that time for any of you who have flown from Honolulu after the cruise. How much time ahead of flight should we get to airport, considering no fast track through TSA.
  5. We had cabin 9473 on Horizon last September and loved it. Fully covered balcony.
  6. Paula_MacFan, Did you enjoy the NCL excursion to Pearl Harbor? I assume you got your own tickets to the USS Arizona. Was there enough time to see everything you wanted? What about luggage, hand-helds; I understand that Pearl Harbor does not allow bags. Did the bus hold them? Did you feel secure with what NCL provided? Timetable: I suppose you went to a hotel. We will be catching a flight from the airport about 4:30 pm. Is that enough time to do this excursion and get to the airport with enough time to check in for our flight? thanks I filled in the Special Needs form requesting Distilled water. Thank you for that information. If not in the cabin, we will request from cabin steward. We are aware of extension cords; got those.
  7. We are new to NCL and will be sailing on the POA. How can we order distilled water for the CPAP machine? Also how do we make dinner reservations for the specialty restaurants? We are thinking of taking the bus transfer to airport with stop at Pearl Harbor at the end of the cruise. Does anyone have any personal recommendations about this tour? Thank you for your help.
  8. Pre-order distilled water under dietary restrictions. There is no charge for water. They will send you an email response. Bring your own extension cords (2), no surge protection.
  9. Thank you for another wonderful cruise. I have enjoyed every day of it.
  10. We have not been yet, but we are using the Blue Hawaiian Helicopter tour in Kauai. Google them.
  11. You can order water packages to be delivered to your room for less than $1000. Look under "beverage packages".
  12. I checked out a few YouTube videos and found out that it was built in 1965 and was in the opening pictures of the original Hawaii Five O. We were hatched before that, so we are older than the condo. We were looking for 2 hotel rooms, hopefully close to beach and with pool and AC for a few days of sightseeing prior to POA cruise. We needed 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. We are used to basic condo on beach. I don't know what a "resort" is. I don't want to pay resort fees. Mostly we will be out and about and not in the condo much, but we do have access to kitchen for breakfast (light) and maybe lunch or snacks, and common area. If I have any energy upon return from cruise, I will let you know how it was. Pricewise, it beats 2 hotel rooms.
  13. Thanks, I looked but did not find anything helpful. I suppose I will take my chances.
  14. Oh, wonderful! Another cruise with Norris. Keep up the good work.
  15. We used this private tour for the El Yunque rain forest: https://puertoricocruiseexcursions.com/ in 2018. We had previously used them for the Old San Juan and Forts tour from ships. I would highly recommend their company if they are still in business (since 2020 happened). They told us so much more than you would know about on your own. We enjoyed our tours with them very much; very professional, on time, friendly.
  16. Has anyone stayed at the Ililai Resort, Waikiki? I have booked a condo there for a few days prior to our POA cruise.
  17. In June 2022 we did the Princess cruisetour, starting in Fairbanks. We just did the included tours: Gold Dredge #8 (which I did not think I would like, but I loved it); river steamboat ride (very enjoyable). We walked around downtown Fairbanks and ate lunch at the Crepery; very good and reasonable for Alaska prices. I wrote a review of the Fairbanks part of our trip, located under "Alaska". We did the Denali Natural History tour (what they are offering this year). We enjoyed it and the wildlife. Unfortunately Denali was hidden in the clouds when we were there. We ate across the street a couple of times (Subway and hot dos) and at the pizza place (good). At the McKinley Lodge we went into Talkeetna and walked the streets. Had the best ice cream of the trip, something native that was blue, maybe fireweed. We ate lunch in Talkeetna, but that was a big disappointment. We enjoyed the rail trip and the bus rides and everything there was. Forget the mosquitoes (bring bug spray). Relax and do what you can. We are bookworms, so we don't do much. There are lots of private tours out there. Research is your friend.
  18. Thank you for writing this review of POA. I am not finding many of them. I am also gleaning as much information as I can before our trip to Hawaii next spring.
  19. We did an Alaska cruisetour in June (not connoisseur) that did not include meals. We like to eat at places other than Princess hotels, support the locals if possible. We found this worked fine for us. Yes we were prepared for the high prices of food in Alaska. But we had lots of eating choices, and we ate at some Princess hotel places too. If you wish more details about what we ate, let me know.
  20. We dropped off our carry on luggage at our Havana balcony on the Horizon in September. I ignored the signs that rooms were not ready (and my husband) and found our cabin. Our cabin was made, but the door was open. We put in luggage and steward came by and introduced himself and said it was okay that our cabin was finished. We went to lunch. Havana bar was not manned at that time. Time was about noon or so.
  21. We asked our steward to deliver a paper copy of the Fun Times, and he did. He placed the page on the bed or in our mailbox. You can also pick up at customer service or coffee shops. We ate at buffet, not impressed. Most things seemed open as usual. We had to meet a ship member at our muster station for a short demonstration on how to use the life preserver. Life preserver stayed in cabin. We did not muster en mass, just a few people. Then she scanned our cards.
  22. Enjoying your review. We plan to go on POA in May. Was the Iolani Palace worth the money?
