  3. I tried to search on the port boards but couldn't find what I was looking for. Does anyone have a suggestion for post cruise transportation from the Port at Rotterdam to the airport in Amsterdam? We have a 2:30 flight. Are ship transfers ($39 pp x 2 people) a good option? Thank you!

  5. Eurodam and Nieuw Amsterdam are making their final visit to Juneau for the season. Eurodam will be doing the Mexican Riviera and Hawaii cruises over the winter while Nieuw Amsterdam will be in the Caribbean (lots of good viewing for the addicts on the FLL webcams:D). The schedule shows that both will be back in Juneau on May 6, 2019. As usual, Eurodam will be at the AS dock and Nieuw Amsterdam at the CT dock from 1300-2200. Definitely the weather has gone downhill from last week! There is an 80% chance of rain although they are saying "light showers". The high will only be 55F/13C and the low 46F/8C. Sunrise is at 6:47 am and sunset at 6:51 pm. Other ships in port are Star Princess at the FKL dock from 0830-2200 and Coral Princess at the AJ dock from 0900-2200. 7. Is is closest to the Dive in restaurant or farther away?
  8. Would the lido deck or the retreat be better for teens? On the lido deck is it the St.Tropez or the Corfu that is closest to the Dive in? thanks
  9. Can anyone who has recently been on NA please tell me what times were the evening shows in the showroom. Thanks JC :)
  10. Has anyone been on Amsterdam since she was in dry dock last month? I'm hoping you can verify that the crow's nest was not tampered with? Any other changes worth mentioning?
  11. Looking for others that are going to be on this trip
  12. Below is the link of our cruise to Alaska a month ago. I will post two chapters per day. I hope everyone enjoys :):) http://www.cruisewithgambee.com/holland-america-amsterdam-alaska-chapter-1/ .
  13. The Juneau season is winding down with only four days of HAL visits this week. Eurodam will be at the AS dock and Nieuw Amsterdam at the CT dock from 1300-2200. Those who waited to go to Juneau this week made a wise choice as the weather is supposed to be beautiful with little chance of rain for the next week! There is a 0% chance of rain on Monday with sunny skies. The high will be 62F/17C and the low a bracing 34F/1C. Sunrise is at 6:32 am and sunset at 7:11 pm. The only other ship in port is Ruby Princess at the FKL dock from 1100-2200. The PTZtv webcam can be found at http://www.juneauharborwebcam.com/. Next up: Amsterdam on Tuesday.
  14. Years ago on the Veendam there was a bit of ballroom type dancing in the Oceans Bar. Is there still a dance floor and or the little combo called the Neptunes?
  15. I asked this last week, but it was on the Floataway Lounge, so I'm not sure who saw it. I could use some help. We are booked on a 14-day cruise in cabin 4129. I understand that this cabin has a huge balcony. I have seen You Tube videos of a similar cabin on the Eurodam, but was wondering if anyone had pictures of this cabin. I saw some pictures posted on old threads, but because of read-only, it wouldn't let me open them. I'm worried about privacy... and the view? We were upgraded to this cabin, and I'm wondering if it is truly an upgrade. There is nothing I can do about it, but was just wondering.
  16. My husband and I plan on taking our daughter 17 and her friend, 19 on the Amsterdam on an Alaskan Inside. The Neptune Suite for 4 people is nominally cheaper than 2 standard verandah rooms. Not enough $ to make a difference in planning. Which would you select for practicality, benefits, and comfort for all.
  17. Our preferred breakfast is a cup of good espresso based coffee ( which I don’t mind paying extra for ) accompanied by a few pastries! Do Hal ships have a dedicated coffee shop / lounge which opens in the mornings? In the past, we have enjoyed breakfast in Cafe Bacio on Celebrity, Princess’s international cafe and Cafe Promenade on RCCL. NCL had the worst offering, poor coffee and no food offerings, and P and O had reasonable coffee, but restricted to one pastry per customer!! Have not cruised with Hal, what will we find on board? Many thanks.
  18. We are booked on a B2B Caribbean on the NA over Halloween. I recenlty found a link to a CC posters personal site that had wonderful pictures from the 2017 Halloween cruise. Unfortunately I lost the link and can not locate it. If anyone knows where I can find this link or site please let me know.:D
  19. Does anyone know if all the deck 6 forward Vista cabins ( the 18 that have showers rather than bathtubs) had the shower curtains swapped out for glass enclosures? Would hate to make a random selection and get one that still has that sticky curtain!
  20. Does anyone know when they typically decorate for Christmas?
  21. Hi everyone, We have reserved this cabin for an Alaska cruise next June. If anyone has stayed in this cabin, any and all comments will be much appreciated. Thanks in advance for your responses.
  22. While the Amsterdam is is drydock (currently) - I know that the rooms being converted to Lanais on Lower Promenade will get all new bathrooms with walk-in showers and glass doors like other ships in the fleet have received. Does anyone know if ALL bathrooms will get new wall panels, floors and counters (like those on the Rotterdam, etc have gotten), even if they retain their original tubs/showers, or will it only be a select few? If for example I knew that my current category "E" room on Dolphin Deck would retain it's original bath decor, but a Category D or C on another deck would get a bath refresh, even if keeping the tub, I'd pay more to move up. However if ALL rooms get the new bath decor I'll stay where I am and save a few $$$
  23. I have searched all over and can't find the answer that I am looking for. I am aware that Amsterdam had a recent dry dock and read somewhere that Vista Suites now have the new TV system but NOT the Neptune suites (?), they still have DVD players. Sounds odd. Can anyone give me accurate info on this?
  24. Amsterdam will be at the CT dock from 1300-2100 and Westerdam at the AS dock from 1300-2200. Another nice day for Juneau, again with a 0% chance of rain. The high will be 63F/17C and the low 35F/2C. Sunrise is at 6:34 am and sunset at 7:08 pm. Also in port are Golden Princess (0700-1600) at the FKL dock and Norwegian Bliss (1400-2200) at the AJ dock. The PTZtv webcam can be found at http://www.juneauharborwebcam.com/. Next up: Noordam on Thursday.
  25. TWO days to go before we leave for our HAL Nieuw Amsterdam Alaska cruise - Inside passage September 1 - 8! My DH and I are traveling with a group of 6 fun friends with ages ranging from 50 - 70. Yes, they all like to party so this will be interesting. Of course, so do we! We all live in SoCal so our usual weather is, “sunny.” It can sometimes be, “sunny with some clouds.” I have been checking the Alaska weather DAILY, and it changes every day! Let’s just hope we have some sun and not all rain. We shall see. Four of us fly up to Vancouver on Friday, a day before we board. We are staying at the Marriott due to my DH having “status” there - he travels A LOT! Yes, we are still poor pions working every day for our vacations. Retirement is still just a dream! (Yes, pity us). I plan on doing a LIVE review (I usually do that - can’t help myself). I’ve not cruised with Holland in quite a while, so I’m not sure how the internet will be. Crossing fingers! Packing is now to commence! Trying to stay under the 50 lbs. luggage limit AA places upon us - THAT should be an interesting challenge!
