  1. Could anyone please tell me when the formal nights might be on our Alaska Legend cruise in July? We are trying to plan excursions, but don’t want to miss out on the dining room experience on formal nights. Thank you
  2. Does anyone know where the self service laundries are located on the Legend?
  3. Our family is cruising to Alaska from Seattle in July. Is it possible to drop luggage at the terminal early in the morning and then tour Seattle? Is it possible to get a cab to the terminal, then walk out of the area to catch a bus or use the light rail system? Any help or insights would’ve very much appreciated. We will be traveling with 4 adults and 7 children.
  4. Looking at an Alaska cruise in July. About the only balcony cabins are deck 5. On the deck plans it shows the life boats, are they obstructed views. On the pick your cabin tab it shows the same cabins on balcony and obstructed views. Different prices but same cabins. This is not for me but a pastor friend. Don't what something that would not be awesome.
  5. Good afternoon, I haven't cruised on the Spirit class for awhile but I know there use to be a link that you could see which of the deck 4 obstructed view cabins have a bit of a view inbetween the life boats. Can someone point me in the right direction Thank you Kim
  6. We just booked Legend's TA westward last night, great rates, just happened to come across it on-line when browsing, emailed PVP immediately, so excited. Did the TA on the Horizon in May, our first, and thoroughly enjoyed it, time passed incredibly quickly. (I just read the Posts on the Legend Transatlantic but believe most of them are referring to the eastbound itinerary.) Anyone else booked the cruise out of Barcelona for Tampa October 2020?
  7. Hi! Anyone know where I can get a couple of bottles of wine to take on the cruise ship in or around the Pier 2 terminal in Honolulu?
  8. Hello! I LOVE reading cruise trip reports. I have been reading every one I can get my hands on since we booked our Alaskan Cruise. I recently had the pleasure of coming across one by Anita Latte. In addition to reporting on her trip, Mrs. Latte also chronicled her planning/thought process. It was fantastic. And so I thought...”I should do that!” It may not be great journalism or perfect photography, but I may just be able to put out something that will be interesting or helpful to others planning Alaskan cruises. My plan is to discuss some of my planning and then transition into a trip report when we return. So here goes nothing....
  9. I had a list of email addresses for the mare'ds but for some reason I can't find it. Anyone have the email for the Legend matre'd please? GR
  10. We will be sailing to Hawaii in September 2019. Those who have been on the Legend - does that ship have Shuffleboard? Also, does it have Mini-golf? We are not swimmers... what's your favorite activities during sea days? Thanks, DCpow
  11. This was our seventh cruise on Carnival and our first to Alaska. While on the Back-to-Back cruise on the Dream, we booked this cruise. We talked with the cruise planner about several different cruises, before settling on this one. She recommended cabin 6277. It is an extra wide cabin, due to the configuration of the ship. It turned out to be a good move. All our previous cruises were warm weather locations. They may not have been during warm weather times here in the US, but it was warm where we went. Going to a cool weather location for a cruise would be different in many ways. First of all, on the previous cruises, packing was easy. You tend to wear LESS clothing in the Caribbean. In Alaska, you wear MORE clothing. Packing was much more difficult. Second, excursions tend to be water related. The beaches in the Midwest tend to suck. There is not a lot of sand, or water. The surf is never up…. Therefore, wen cruising, we try to get to as many beaches as possible. Alaska has a lot of beaches, but the water is COLD! I enjoy the sea days. These days tend to be relaxing, and allow us to reenergize for the next port. Once we get to Skagway, there were no more sea days. We talked DW’s sister and brother-in-law to join us on the cruise. We also talked DW's cousin DC to also join us on the cruise. DC asked a friend to go with her. So, SIL, BIL, DC, DCF, DW, and I were all set for the cruise. Alaskan expeditions are not cheap. I figured it will be a once-in-a-lifetime adventure, so I wanted to get the most out of it. I had a few things that I wanted to accomplish on the cruise. Get to the Yukon. I read too many Jack London books when I was young. See a live bear. I want to get a close-up of one, but not to be close up when I do. I have long lenses to help do this.) See some eagles. Get a photo of a whale. See a glacier. Visit Seattle. I had not been there since 1979-80. (New Year's Eve in Vancouver, BC.) Go back to Canada. I did a lot of research on what to do in Alaska and what would be the most economical way to do it. Some of the excursions were much cheaper booking directly. Others were not that much cheaper than what Carnival charges. Given some excursions may be going a long distance from the port, and Carnival guarantees the return to the ship, if the excursion is late, some we booked through Carnival. Others did not go that far out of town, and we booked directly. The trip to the Yukon was booked through Carnival. There were too many risks booking directly (distance, weather, customs, etc.) It was a good choice, even though we got back in plenty of time. Booking the Great Alaskan Lumberjack Show directly was half the price of Carnival, and it was a two minute walk from the port.
  12. Someone knows how is the free sauna and steam on the Carnival Legend(spirit class)? It's like the conquest class(big window on the ocean)?
  13. Those of you who have cruised the Legend in Alaska 7 day Seattle round trip. Do you remember the day and time the VIP party was held? Thanks for any info.
  14. Just pulled the trigger on the Legend transatlantic. I wasn't the only one! The room I wanted was already booked 😞 Too excited not to share, though!
  15. Hi there, Went on Spirit recently. First ship we have ever been on that there is no live music for the Theatre shows. Wondering if it's the same of Legend and also if the shows are the same. Thanks
  16. My wife and I are considering booking the Carnival Legend 16-day Hawaiian Island cruise out of Vancouver (return San Pedro) Sep 26th – Oct 12th. My question is, do any of you know how the weather is, temperature wise, in-route to/from that time of the year? My wife says that with that many sea days she would want warm weather so that she could lay in the sun.
  17. Our boarding time is 3 - 3:30, and I just rec’d an email with general reminders for Embarkation Day, it states the Lido lunch is done at 3. What else would be available for us after 3? Our flight lands at 1:30 ish & I thought we could hold off eating until on-board. I don’t want to have the taxi go thru a drive thru 🙄 Any ideas?
  18. Off cruising on the Carnival Legend out for Melbourne to NZ for 10 nights. First time cruising since September 2017.
  19. I went to check to check and see about booking a the Carnival Cruise to Iceland and I could not find it. Has it already sold out? If so WOW!
  20. We are booked for this Saturday 16th aboard the Legend , I have just discovered that tropical cyclone "Oma" is right over Vanuatu and then set to slam into New Caledonia, and then hang around the area for about ten days, the Legend will be sailing right into this damn cyclone, so I am very seriously considering cancelling our cruise , I've sailed in 6 metre seas and was very unwell , who knows what this damn cyclone will throw up.
  21. On the MSC deck plans it shows two dots in the legend for YC cabin 18030. What does that mean. Is it the same as two squares on the legend?
  22. Just booked my first cruise for my wife and I from Vancouver to Seatle via Alaska. We are looking forward to the sight seeing plus some off-boat excursions. Any recommendations?
  23. Since the Legend and Miracle don't have dive in movies, do they show extended movies in cabin? We haven't been on these ships for a few years. I understand they have had some 2.0 upgrades. We just got off the Breeze and all of the dive in movies were shown in cabin for a small fee. We enjoyed the complimentary movie channel, but on a 7 day cruise there is a lot to do and in cabin TV isn't that important to us. The Breeze also has an updated TV setup with room service ordering and such. We are on an extended Legend cruise next year and will probably have more downtime for TV watching. I'm hoping for some pay options. Please give me some good news! Thanks in advance. Dawn
  24. Hi, we are booked on the May 6th sailing on Carnival Legend and I have not been successful in finding out if this ship now has USB ports in the cabins. I have seen conflicting information on that, so I want to be sure. We have to fly to the port, so we don't want to have to pack our USB charging station if it is not necessary. Thank you!!
  25. First Carnival cruise and first Alaska cruise. I cannot tell from the posted itinerary if we should book port or starboard. If I am going to freeze my tail off on that balcony I want to make it's worth it! Cruising 7 days from Vancouver, I just can't handle the cold long enough to do a 10 or 12 day trip. Has anyone done this itinerary that can give me some tips. This is my husband's dream, I have been holding off as long as possible as I am a So Cal gal who requires 72 and sunny to survive.
