  1. I think I just understood that there is no Johnnie Rockets on Quantum of the Seas. If that's correct, is there any venue that serves real milkshakes? I'm asking about ones made with milk and real ice cream, not those icy ice-milk imitations. Thanks.
  2. I saw a report that Quantum was having engine problems. Has anyone heard this and by chance is there an update?
  3. I am seeing rumors of an engine problem on the Quantum, but nothing that is confirmed. I am looking for an update from someone actually onboard.
  4. Does anyone have any photos of (or have stayed in) the Ocean View Balcony cabin 12250 or 12650 on Quantum class ships? I've currently got 12250 held for a cruise on Ovation because, on the deck plans, it looks like the balcony is slightly larger than regular balconies. However I know deck plans are not always accurate. Or does anyone have a photo of these cabins on decks 13, 11, 10, 9, 8 or 7? e.g. 11250 or 11650. Any info about these cabins will be much appreciated. Thanks 🙂
  5. Anyone been on Quantum recently? Interested in the Noodle House, we have been on Ovation several times and that location is a Fish& Ships. We will be in Quantum in September doing West-bound TP and curious what people think about that venue...do they have fried rice? 😄
  6. I always like to buy a souvenir model of each ship that we cruise on. Does Quantum sell a souvenir ship model onboard?
  7. Hello, we'll be on Quantum this summer. I know that the Endicott Arm is very scenic. I would assume most folks head up top for at least part of this transit? I'd be curious to know how this is best experienced and if there is some part of the transit that is more worthwhile than another, etc? Also, outside of this part of the sailing and perhaps port arrivals and departures, is there much to see beyond open ocean? We originally had a balcony room reserved. However we just got back for a 4 night cruise with two cabins for the 4 of us (2 adults +16 yr old and 9 yr old) and I realized that our family has likely outgrown a single normal sized cabin- I suddenly couldn't imagine us all cramming into one of the two rooms we had. We somehow did it last summer but it is hard to imagine it working now without testing everyone's nerves. As a result, I 'downgraded' our room this summer to a spacious ocean view- one of the big corner rooms (9510) with a huge porthole. The extra space seems like pure bliss, with the ability for four people to sleep and move around without bumping into one another and still have a view. My other half is bummed to lose the balcony but I'm hoping it is a good tradeoff and we've lost much less than we've gained. I was also concerned about storage for 4 people given that we also have to pack for a couple hotel nights also, but that is now a complete non issue with the extra space. Anyway, appreciate any insights on the overall scenery experience on this Alaska itinerary.
  8. Hi All- We're a group of ten taking an Alaskan cruise on Quantum this summer out of Seattle. What features of the ship should we not miss? I'm familiar with Oasis class more than any other, so I'm looking for some advice on Quantum. The others in the group have either not been on a cruise, or been on only one several years ago, so I'm trying to help them as much as I can to really enjoy this one. I have no idea what shows they will have on this July's sailing. Any ideas? I see there's a Café Promenade where I can grab some early morning pre-breakfast coffee & tea and pastries. What are its hours of operation? Looks like Cafe @ 270 is another option for breakfast, again when is it open? What other grab-n-go eateries are there? I liked the hot dog stand on Wonder & Oasis, anything like that on Quantum? I believe the walking track is up on deck 15 with lounge chairs alongside? Is there anywhere else to walk where we wouldn't have to deal with loungers and people walking around looking at their phones and not watching for other using the track? We did this on the Mariner, I think we walked around the deck where they had the lifeboats hanging. Is there such a place on Quantum? We have a Junior Suite, so we will spend most of our lounging time there, but where else may we find some quiet chairs to take in any available sun and read & relax? Anyone have an idea when the North Star may be back in service? Thanks all!
  9. Hoping someone can help me out with this, first time looking at RCCL, regular NCL cruiser. We're thinking of doing an Alaskan cruise in June on either the Quantum or Ovation of the seas. From what I understand, these ships are the same. On NCL, when booking a room with 4 people, the couch converts to a bed, and a second bed pulls down above it from the ceiling to make bunk beds for the kids. Is this the same setup here? I've searched and not found any pictures of a room made up for four people. I don't want to make my kids sleep in the same bed if it's a pullout. We'll probably do a balcony room, but may do an oceanview depending on pricing. Also, yes I know I can get adjoining rooms and not have to room with the kids. That's not in the budget. TIA.
  10. Is there enough to do for my grand daughters on Quantum of the seas?
  11. This was quite the surprise to see that Quantum of the Seas is coming to Los Angeles to do short cruises. I just booked myself a 3 day weekend cruise in 2025. I love this class of ship!! I'm not bothered that it only goes to Ensenada on my cruise, I'll still get off the ship to enjoy a delicious Mexican lunch at my favorite restaurant there, it's all about enjoying the ship for a few days. Anyone else excited about this?
  12. Does anyone know what the hours of operation are for the Windjammer on Quantum of the Seas for their Alaskan cruises? Some of our excursions will preempt our main dining room seating, so we'll need another option. For instance, when in Victoria, BC, this ship leaves port at 10:00 PM, will the WJ be open for a late night meal that day?
  13. About to book a balcony room, but want to avoid being above the deck 5 smoking areas. Has anyone been on board recently to advise of where they are located. the deck plan does not list smoking areas.
  14. I booked a 13-day cruise through a travel agency on the Quantum of the Seas, leaving Vancouver on October 1, 2024 to Honolulu at a price of USD$1,712. The cruise was cancelled (we still have no explanation as to why) and they offered us a 9-day cruise leaving Vancouver to Honolulu, 4 days later, for the SAME PRICE! They threw in USD$100 OBC for the inconvenience. Royal Caribbean won't talk to me, they say go through your travel agent, the travel agent won't give me the name of their Royal Caribbean contact. This is my first cruise experience, and I have to say I can't believe that Royal Caribbean can get away with this BS (13-day cruise is $132/night and 9-day is $190). I feel for the travel agency, this is not their fault - they didn't cancel cruise and they don't set the cruise fares - Royal Caribbean does. Has anyone else experienced this type of unacceptable service from Royal Caribbean? I finally had a telecom with RCCL and the travel agency; they still maintain they are not offering me anything (I asked about the drink package, gratuities or upgrade). They are not stopping at any ports until we get to Hawaii and we were supposed to stop at three. Normally cruise lines give refunds when they don't stop, but not this cruise line.
  15. I was watching a video re: cruise out of Seattle on Quantum and they said they checked in at the airport. We are on the June 3, 2024 sailing, if they do this next year can you check in even if you come in a day early or do you have to come in that day to do this? A big thank you to those who have done this and are willing to help me figure this out.
  16. Hi, Does anyone have pictures of room 6664? We will be on the Anthem of the Seas and cannot find out how obstructed this room is. Any pictures would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
  17. I've always stayed in a balcony cabin on Ovation but as I am shouting my family a free cruise for 10 of them, they have told me they would be happy with cheaper oceanview staterooms. I know these are located on deck 3 where the casino and Music Hall are also located and am worried that there may be a lot of noise heard in the cabins late at night from those venues. If anyone has ever stayed on deck 3 and could share their experience, I would be very grateful.
  18. I am thinking about booking a room right under the concierge club on Quantum. Anyone stayed in a room directly under the club? What was your experience with noise? Was it bothersome throughout the day?
  19. Hi everyone, My friend and I just booked a balcony cabin on Quantum OTS in September 2024! The itinerary is 7 nights r/t out of Seattle, with planned stops in Sitka (9:30-5), Skagway (7-5), Juneau (7-5), and Victoria (late afternoon-evening). This is my first time in Alaska, and I'm curious- if there are no "scenic cruising" days listed, does that mean we will not do any of that type of thing, other than what will surely be gorgeous just sailing in and out of the various ports? Or would something like Endicott Arm/Dawes Glacier or similar not necessarily be noted at this point? None of it's a deal-breaker, just trying to get a feel for what to expect. Thanks!
  20. Just off Quantum of the Seas with our family ( we are Diamond members ) a little 3 nighter , 6 adults and 4 well behaved grandchildren -( I say this because there were 1500 kiddos onboard and many not supervised at all - including a group of teens who constantly pushed every elevator button at once and ran off yelling / laughing ) Another blaming the cruiseline becuase her son booked up $300 in the first few hours in the arcade - she reckons the cruiseline should supervise - I told her maybe thats a parent thing 😂. Anyway , heres my 2 bobs worth Windjammer - disappointing - selection pretty much the same each day with little variation . Crowded as expected , drink stations not always loaded - salad items good - missed any mexican if it was available - Second day lunch asian noodle dish not refilled ( I went back 3 times hoping) . Hard to get drink service as seemed to be understaffed . Yes its the buffet I know .Most seemed happy though . MDR - we were in Silk for ATD and had a table of 10 each night at 7:30 which was perfect . Line up was very quick and well supervised by the staff .Really well arranged by the MaitreD and the Grandchildren loved the atmosphere and experience which was a bit more like a Carnival Experience with the waiters dancing and the napkin waving and the Chicken dance . It really was a childrens cruise night and I guess good for us but not for others who would have liked a more sedate and relaxing dining experience . Still everyone around us joined in an had some fun . The dining , not so much fun , apart from the fantastic waiter and wine service that our guys provided . They were first class and attentive , great personalities and made each night something to look forward to .Limited menu and similar/same offerings . Parts of the steak good , pastas just ok , presentation lacking and clumsy , good breads , fish not sure what , childrens menu offerings like fast food - thankfully our waiters brought them all friut cups to start . Service timing was excellent . ( I guess we are just off Cunard and Virgin hence feeling unrealistically disappointed here ). Jamies Lunch - we shouted the 4 adults lunch and they thought it to be fantastic . Food , service , everything - lucky them . We took the grandkids to Sorrentos , that wasnt great as no pineapple ( all kids love Hawaiian I figured ) , so we then went to the Windjammer , chips and burgers again . 🤷‍♂️ Continental room service prompt and as expected , good for what it is . Coffee was unexpectedly good . Bars pretty good considering the number of passengers and just sea days , staff workrd hard . Pool areas were packed - and as it was warm, pools were full including the solarium . One afternoon you could only just bob up and down there were so many in the water . Rockclimbing was well organised and attended as was flowrider - the North Star not going . Ship felt full , walkways always busy . Entertainment around the ship was as usual , good , the Pool band played regae so that was appropriate . Two70 was fantastic and the Production show Sequins and Feathers excellent although we had seen this last year .Didnt catch the Comedy guy . Casino - unkind to us again - we are $1 pushers so dont expect anything but a donation to RCCL . Sat next to a couple who were both pushing $50 a push . Crikey ! Embarkation quick and disembarking well organised but a long line waiting to get off , Much better than Virgin and on a par with Cunard recently for embarkation .Disembarking a little slower I think . So that about it , we are on Ovation in April so will be cooler and Probably less children although still school holidays . Have booked the Ultimate Dining package which was reasonable but not the beverage package as that pricing is more than the cruise for 10 nights - RCCL are out of whack with their drink prices for Aussies so we'll do the Diamond drinks and the 40% off a bottle . That worked well this trip so hope it goes well again . .
  21. I want to use a camera tripod on the upper deck so I can get photos of the Alaskan Landscape without having to position a lens between the plexi glass barriers. Thanks in advance.
  22. My friend has an early flight with his cruise out of Seattle. I wondered if anyone can tell me (or him) appr time to get off the ship if everything goes right. Obviously he'll be up early and walk off but I didn't know if anyone had any recent or past experience with this ship/cruise port. The other thing is his brother only has a birth certificate. I'm not sure if that will add more time for him getting off the ship. Thanks
  23. Hi, Does anyone have a photo or video of an inside cabin on a Quantum class ship with all 4 beds set up? I tried looking online and Youtube and couldn't find any. I am deciding between an inside vs. virtual inside, depending on how the room layout with beds is.
  24. Is the noodle restaurant open on Quantum of the Seas? Other Alaska tours of the ship all show this restaurant closed. Anyone been in May and was it open?
