Are children allowed to use the solarium pool while this ship is in AK for designated times ? In Australia/New Zealand there were no children allowed at all but I seem to remember while in AK there were certain time periods allowed. Thanks for your help. (posted on RC board also)
  2. Are there Freestyle Coke Machines on Radiance?

  4. Royal Caribbeans Radiance of the Seas leaves Sydney today after her cruising season downunder . Nice trip across to Honolulu with 2 stops in NZ and 3 in Tahiti . Enjoy your Transpacific. 5. Hi all! We’re considering a balcony stateroom for the May 2020 Hawaii sailing, and I see many photos online showing a divider curtain in the room. Do any of you know if they’re still there? We’ve rigged curtains around our little guy’s crib before but would be very glad to not have to pack the curtains and magnet hooks! Thanks!
  6. I noticed on the RCCL Radiance of the Seas web page the Concierge Lounge is being referred to as the Suite Lounge. The quote on the page is: "TOP SHELF PRIVILEGES - It’s serenity with a twist of lime. Reserved exclusively for guests of Grand Suite-level accommodations and above, the Suite Lounge presents complimentary continental breakfast and evening drinks. So from croissants to Cosmos, we’ve got your cravings covered. Insider Tip For Grand Suite-level accommodations and above." Does anyone know if the change has been made from Concierge to Suite? Just wondering.
  7. We'll be on Radiance of the Seas this summer in Alaska. I'm wondering if there is anything on Radiance like the Vintages small wine bar on Liberty of the Seas. It's on the Promenade deck 5 and is somewhat cozy with limited seating (<20) and some small comfortable seating outside the entrance. I see on Radiance the English Pub but looking at pictures, it is a much larger affair than Vintages. I also see a Champagne Bar (seats 52) but nothing cozy and warm like the Vintages on Liberty. Can anyone set me straight?
  8. When reading about The Radiance - several things are mentioned in the "Things to Do" section -but I don't see them in the cruise planner so I an purchase. Specifically - Murder Mystery Dinner, Jewlery Making and Scrapbooking. Some of the others are there - and I bought them like Cupcake Class, Sushi Class etc. Is this typical? When do these things show up usually? Thanks!
  9. I just noticed Radiance will be arriving in Singapore on 9/30/20, but the next scheduled cruise is not until 11/4/20 Singapore to Australia. I am guessing that 9/30 to 11/3 Will be Dry Dock time. Does anyone have any information concerning this?
  10. I have a question regarding the oceanview cabins category 2N on deck 2, 3 and 4. I see deck 2 has very few cabins. In your opinion which deck would be the best and why? Thinking of booking oceanview on this ship and interested in everyone's input. Thank you
  11. With some of the best features from other Royal Caribbean ships, Radiance offers plenty of diversity while maintaining an intimate vibe afforded by its modest size. (Note: An extensive upgrade is scheduled for 2020.) Has anyone else got info on this? What will the upgrade include? If it's true and a descent upgrade it would work out perfectly as I'm considering doing the B2B that goes all the way around Australia in 2021 for my 40th birthday. It would be my 5th cruise with Royal, 2nd time solo, 1st B2B and first time on Radiance. My first cruise was on Rhapsody of the Seas - is Radiance similar? Thanks and happy cruising.
  12. We are planning to book Alaska cruise next week, and being the first time booking a cruise so early, was wondering if there are any preferred locations on the ship - I know most people like the Aft cabins, but we are looking at booking a GS and most of these are not in the back. I was leaning towards one on the hump, but was curious if anyone who has sailed this class ship has any recommendations. Thanks,
  13. I’m currently on the Radiance as we make our way back to Sydney following a planned port intensive itinerary around New Zealand. Alas, it wasn’t to be due to major storms in the South Island. Our 12 night itinerary now includes five sea days when all is said and done. If anyone has questions about the Radiance experience, I’ll be happy to try to answer. One can only attend so many movies on sea days when it’s rainy, windy and chilly outside. Some passengers are a bit grumpy but all decisions by the captain were made for safety first. I completely agree with him but missing the South Island Fjordlands was a major disappointment as I flew 17 hours nonstop from the US to Sydney to cruise this ship and this itinerary. Kinda like going to Alaska and not seeing the glaciers. Shout out all!
  14. Looks like a larger balcony. Just booked coming back from Hawaii. Is this a good cabin for coastal viewing, anyone love or hate it? Thank you for any feedback.
  15. I know you can buy Voom daily basis, just wondering if you can buy allotment of minutes e.g. 60, 120 minutes package for internet like you can on Princess?
  16. Radiance of the Seas Review [24Jan – 3Feb 2019] Auckland to Sydney Background: This was our 17th cruise - mostly on Royal Caribbean. Also cruised twice on Carnival & once on Princess. Started cruising in 2011 & I am in my early 60’s and my wife late 50’s and reasonably active – mostly take stairs and not lifts. On this cruise it was just the two of us. We visited Bay of Islands, Tauranga, Napier, Wellington, Akaroa, Dunedin and Fiordland. This was a bit different cruise for us, going straight into 6 port days after departing Auckland ie no sea days to ease into the cruise as we were used to. Also, we had spent 12N on a self-drive tour around NZ prior to the cruise. Cruise: Embarking in Auckland was a breeze – we had just a short walk from our downtown hotel to the ship & we were on-board shortly after checking out of our hotel at 11am. Straight after boarding as we explored the ship, we were reminded again why Radiance is our favourite - even after a 6 year absence from her. The staff on board were wonderful & everything was shipshape, much as our previous experiences were. I always hear people saying things like the ship is old etc (not just this one) but I do not understand what they are seeing. You can find a bit of rust, and maybe an area of two that needs a paint touch-up, but you must be really looking I suggest. We had a 6D OV Balcony cabin on Deck 8 [8514] which is very forward on starboard side. It is a great location for us. Our cabin steward Sapto was extremely efficient – can only be described as excellent! Our MTD experience was mixed. The food was very good and dining company (we shared tables with others) mostly also. The service was very slow, with dinner taking up to 2 hours. I made a comment on the mid-cruise survey about this, and they clearly read the surveys, as they tried to correct this for us, maybe even a bit too hard. For the first time in almost 200N at sea, we dined 3 times in the Windjammer, partly because of the slow MTD service on the first few nights, but also because we had late return excursions – we enjoyed these dinners. Food in WJ, where we mostly has breakfast & lunch was very good and the staff excellent. Also enjoyed the offerings from the Park Café. The events run by the activities team were well run – we particularly enjoyed Hannah’s Progressive Trivia. The events in the centrum was most enjoyable – the Australia Day party was excellent. Cuddy was ever present as the CD & Captain Marek is very engaging with everyone. We rarely frequented the diamond lounge as we found it crowded during ‘happy hour’, so we mostly got our evening drinks from the Pub and relaxed on our balcony ahead to the shows & dinner – we did have a few daytime visits to get a nice cup of coffee. We enjoyed the theatre shows (production and headliners) – overall the entertainment was really good. Once again I find myself saying “Can't wait until we next board Radiance again”. The Ship of Glass!! Cheers
  17. Does the Concierge Lounge on Radiance have an outside seating area? We really enjoyed this feature while cruising on Serenade and hope that Radiance has a similar configuration.
  18. Hi Can anyone advise if the Radiance of the Seas has free male and female sauna/steam rooms, or have the moved to the dreaded Expensive Spa thingo
  19. Was just looking at the deck plans for Radiance. Appears they are doing away with Family Harbor on this one, though it does seem to exist on the Panorama. Wonder why the change so soon, and if that means we should not expect one on Mardi Gras either.
  20. Carnival Radiance needs to be added to the Roll Call drop down list. Carnival Radiance roll call forum: https://boards.cruisecritic.com/forum/2438-carnival-radiance-roll-calls/
  21. Just wondering what Royal Caribbean will be home porting in Sydney now that Radiance will be moved to Brisbane for the 20/21 season?
  22. I just checked the Carnival website for our May 30, 2020 cruise and it will not come up. We still had some family wanting to book. Do you think it could be sold out so soon.
  23. Brisbane is building a brand new cruise terminal at the mouth of the river so larger cruise ships can have a decent place to dock versus the cargo terminal they have to use at the moment. Royal Caribbean have just announced that Radiance of the Seas will be based at the new terminal at Luggage Point over the 2020/21 southern hemisphere summer cruise season. RCI also said they would be increasing calls to Queensland with other ships during the 2020/21 season.
