  5. nice. on it with key 2021. I find radiance takes care of crown and anchor well . I imagine they do the same for key.
  6. On Radiance and saw sign @ Izumi in the Windjammer. Have not seen anyone post about this key priviledge of reserved seating for dining in the windjammer. Unpublished perk? This dining room is just for breakfast.
  7. Funny we are NOT subdued, sedate or quiet cruisers--but we love Celebrity! Now, 3 were over spring break so FAR from subdued!! (and QUITE young demographic!) We find a cruise is what you make it...and we like to be BUSY on a cruise (or any vacation for that matter) Normal Caribbean port day (any line): buffet breakfast, couple hours in the sun, burger by the pool, poker tournament, trivia, dinner, show/game show, dancing/casino--PHEW. LOVE IT. EVERY line we have cruised allows us these options. I don't consider that quiet, sedate or subdued! I agree that other than the spring break demographic, 30s-60s is the bulk of the crowd. Similar to Princess, imo. Frankly that has been the predominant demo of most our cruises--they have more disposable income than 20s, kids often older or grown & still very active, generally speaking. I have avoided Carnival--my 92 YO aunt said there wasn't enough to do on her Carnival cruise! (that woman is out 5 nights a week--keno, horse racing, dancing, so she, too, likes to be busy! But we found a 12 day Med cruise on the newly refurbed Radiance next summer for about $1K each (including taxes & fees) for the 3 of us OV. HECK of a deal. I figure a European cruise is VERY different & those 3 sea days will be more about relaxing & refueling for more sightseeing than going all day. You can do that on every cruise line!
  8. Just found out from Captain Merick(sp?) On Radiance that a family of 5 was left in Ketchikan. He stated that he waited as long as possible for them as there were 2 children in that group. Let's hope they make it to Icy Straight to catch up with the shop.
  9. Ahh...thanks. I know he loved being on Radiance Alaska runs due to being home to Vancouver every other week. He is a very nice...(and very smart!) man. Lots of energy, and a wealth of knowledge about music!
  10. I’m booking on the Radiance out of NYC next June to San Juan, St. Thomas, St. Maarten, and Grand Turk- slim pickings. Just my husband and I! 25 years together, 22 years of marriage and several children later... this will be our first vacation ALONE, and it’s much needed. We’re choosing Lido, which is ironic because with the kids we always chose deck five and six 😂. Also first time choosing and cabin with a balcony. That said, much of this decision was based on offering- inside cabins were deck one or front of ship- I don’t want those. So, please help me choose the side of the ship I want to be on. Right now 9281, 82, 87, 88, and 94 is available on Lido. Also, if anyone has any huge opinions about this itinerary, please speak up! I really want to avoid flying next summer- my husband would like to go to Bermuda, but I don’t like that the sailing out of NYC only allows one day there and several days onboard.
  11. Any reason to not consider RCI...We loved the Radiance...their family oceanview cabin #8500 that has a separate sleeping area for kids...and great Adventure Ocean kid's club.
  12. Wow...that is indeed rare to have that many Pinnies on board. We have been on Radiance 3 times already, (love...love it!) and am looking forward to our fourth time (another B2B) next year. This year we are spending the summer up here in northern Maine, which parts of do remind me of Alaska. Just no glaciers and smaller mountains. 😉 Last time we were on the Alaska Radiance route, there was one solo Pinnie, and two couples with just over 350 points making up the top three C&A level members. We ended up being one of those, and were 2nd to top cruiser...go figure! Usually not that many higher tier C&A members on those Alaska runs. The best thing about that was the wonderful dinner the HD, LA, and new beverage manager invited the top three to in Chops. Robert from Vancouver was the HD at that time. I assume he is not on the ship any longer? He was great! Hope you continue to have a fantabulous time! And no Spam! 😄 😄

  14. 1. I very sincerely ask... Do you wish to visit Croatia/Italy or actually see new and exciting places? If so the Radiance and Vision Class ships will do an excellent Med+Adriatic variety of ports, including Venice. These are the best ships (especially Radiance Class by a mile in my humble opinion) for the Adriatic and seeing the Med. Or are you sailing to Europe to build C&A points on a Freedom or Quantum class ship? Perhaps consider staying home and do cheaper/easier sailings in North America to build your points? Like Bob said Freedom Class from Southampton, but you won't get anywhere close to Croatia. In 2020, must see Dubrovnik is only visited by Rhapsody of the Seas. Venice is Rhapsody's home port. Her 7 day itinerary which includes Dubrovnik, Kotor, Santorini and Olympia from Venice all in one cruise is absolutely outstanding! Vision & Jewel (only twice in Sept 2020) also visits Venice and Kotor, two of the very best sail in/sail aways you could possibly experience from an aft balcony. Vision includes Split Croatia, the only Royal sailing with two stops in Croatia... plus the Western side of Italy including Rome and Florence, so this may be your #1 itinerary to see a bit of everything, and deserves to be at the top of your list of itineraries to consider 2. There were delays for me in Kotor & Corfu as many were trying to back on the ship at the same time later in the day, regardless the line went quickly and I was on a tender in about 1/2 hour each time. Maybe purchasing "The Key" would help you with this if you're concerned. Have a great time planning 😊
  15. Very disappointing work by the cruise director Cruzin Susan. Tomorrow our first day in Maui absolutely nothing going on except for a dance party. The cruise compass looks as baron as a desert. No headline show , no production show just throw up a movie and job done.
  16. I was planning to write this report when I got home to West Palm Beach, but our flight from LAX has been delayed almost 2 hours, so I have some time on my hands. On a side note, LAX has got to be the worst airport I have ever - what a dump! So, to start my review I need to go back a ways. We moved to FL in 2016 from VA, and one day my wife found this flyer in the mail - it was for a travel show. She suggested that I go, and I did. At the time, we were really looking at a 10-day partial PC Christmas cruise on NCL Jade for 2018. We already had our Navigator Christmas Cruise for 2017 booked, and were already looking for the following year. Well the TA hosting the show and the RCI rep at the show made a strong case for looking at Alaska as our next adventure. So my wife and I talked it over, and we decided to go to Alaska for summer 2018. We knew that if we traveled completely across the country that we had to include a land tour too. After looking at all the options, we selected the Family Tundra Express 9B because it sounded to most kid-friendly as we would be bringing our 8 y/o son. Now, I know that many like to DIY their land portion, and I appreciate the reasons for choosing this option - but I am lazy and too busy to do the research necessary to plan out a DIY trip [emoji6]. Booking with RCI was just too easy, and in terms of cost, the land tour and cruise was under the magic budget number I set, so I was fine with costs. TIP: Book early. I booked our cruise the day they opened the bookings, and I never saw a lower price for our cabin category (GS) or the land tour/cruise price. Note: One additional thing I learned, because we booked our land tour through RCI, we got cruise credits for each night of our land tour, and because we were in a suite, we got 6 C&A points for the land portion. 17. Keep in mind that not all the itineraries have been updated yet. 🙂 Our sailing In May on Ovation, still shows Dawes Glacier, even though those of us booked have already had our cruise planner updated to GB. I think most of the Radiance cruises have been updated, though.
  18. Hubbard Glacier is a stunning glacier. We visited it on our Radiance cruise in 2016. It is not in Glacier Bay, however. You are correct.
  19. Hello Celebrities! I need help. Celebrity royally messed up our reservation around final payment. As a result we had to battle Celebrity for my Handicapped Cabin back ( legs don’t work well after accident ) other bennies ... Friend got a free inside cabin near us and all AC benefits - they changed the classification to a double instead of a triple. we can dine in Blu or Main Dining we can take advantage of alternate dining at no charge all 7 nights We are flagged as VVIP’s (yes, it was Celebrity was that bad) I need your help! our friend and I our adventurous and will try anything. Hubby (the kindest man on the plant) is a Meat and Potatos kind of guy. He now enjoys salads thanks to giant Maryland tomatoes, not much on vegetables, WILL try soups and after a childhood of fish sticks on Fridays he eats NO seafood. 😢. I have tried. i want my Jim to enjoy Celebrity. So far, he is a dedicated Royal Caribbeanator. We were married on the Radiance. We can dine anywhere. What do you suggest?? I was pretty seriously sick earlier, only made final payment because we have Travel Guard Trip Insurance. I’m better enough to give it a try as long as we take it easy. Dining will be fun. We can finally plan and I want my Jim to have a fabulous time as I sit and sun on our ginormous balcony. 59 days from today to Bermuda. Thank you for your suggestions. 👍❤️
  20. I have been checking the website in various ways the last few days. I am seeing the changes being made on section at a time. It may take them a week or two to have everything lined up correctly. We are booked B2B on the last 2 Radiance sailings of the season, 8/21,8/28. We are now going to GB instead of Skagway. For us this is great news. For some that want to see Skagway, it is a disappointment.
  21. Interesting thread as we are taking our first Carnival cruise (Europe) after 12 Caribbean cruises--Princess, RCCL & Celebrity, several of each. We have enjoyed all 3 lines, and find them to be more alike than different. Would cruise each one again in a heartbeat. Interestingly our fav cruise was the Oasis followed by the Quantum--SO SO many things to do each day on such a large ships which we loved. (ironically our RCCL cruise to MX Riviera was our LEAST fav; how a ship with 3200 people could have SO FEW activity offerings was beyond me--I really felt it was the cruise director on this one) We did notice that Celebrity can have a few less activities--but we were often on smaller ships as well. We agree the service/experience is a small notch above RCCL. Very small. We got into Celebrity as the prices could not be matched on other lines when you factor in perks. I suspect that a European cruise will be a VERY different take on the typical Carnival cruise. Radiance goes into dry dock in March so essentially it will be a brand new ship as well.
  22. Yes, was only reason didn't book as B2B on her or Radiance. Like not to change rooms... Though we are lucky that Royal started releasing most of them so early. Few yrs ago all were released in Mar-May, with longer Caribbean Cruises I had to wait until first of June!
  23. I am in the same situation with the Radiance. Same thing happened last year and I was able to book the next two legs on 11/15.
  24. This is what I am seeing for northbound Radiance in August 7, 2020. Hubbard Glacier is not Glacier Bay, correct? CRUISE ITINERARY There are a few changes to this sail date's itinerary. We hope you're as excited as we are about this in your updated vacation plan. Day 1 (Departure) Vancouver, British Columbia (Set Sail) Day 2 Inside Passage (Cruising), Canada Day 3 Ketchikan, Alaska Day 4 Icy Strait Point, Alaska Day 5 Juneau, Alaska Day 6 Skagway, Alaska Day 7 Hubbard Glacier (Cruising), Alaska Return Seward, Alaska (Return)Y
  25. hmmm. that is interesting. We have a 2 bedroom grande suite to panama in 2021. Of course by then everything will have changed. We did do the key on the radiance to "test it" and cause it was cheap. Eh... on those ships not point. We get most of the perks already as Diamond+. For us the "perk" is the front line "fast pass" for activities. Going to see how it goes on Ovation and then decide for the future. We will be on the Oasis in March and I am considering it then. But it will depend on how the Ovation goes.
