  1. I just heard from a friend that Summit will be overnighting in Quebec City for an extra day to avoid Lee. A certain map program shows Zuiderdam and Summit docked a mile or so apart. We will be boarding Zuiderdam tomorrow.
  2. Wondering if anyone on board can tell us if they are changing your current itinerary at all based on weather forecast for inclement weather due to hurricane Lee
  3. Has anyone affected by the deployments for 2025 sailings rebooked and received the offered additional OBC? (In our case it was $200) We rebooked a new sailing almost 2 weeks ago and were told to keep an eye for an email regarding the additional OBC. Still nothing beyond that initial email regarding the cancellation and $200 OBC offer to rebook. Has anyone rebooked and received the OBC on their booking or an additional email yet?
  4. After the recent redeployments, Summit's last cruise from San Juan is December 28, 2024-January 4, 2025 and her first one from Fort Lauderdale is February 25, 2025. Has anyone heard where Summit will be during that timeframe?
  5. This won’t be a long or detailed thread, but I wanted to give some impressions of this cruise, our first on Celebrity in 2 years. DH and I are in our youngish 70’s, from the Boston area. We are longtime NCL cruisers but got hooked on Celebrity. We would have sailed them more but family constraints had us on Princess, Royal and NCL last year, which did give us a base for comparing cruise lines. We really looked forward to visiting Iceland, since Covid took care of the previous two attempts. ITINERARY We flew to Reykjavík from Boston on Iceland Air. We used Celebrity Air, decent price. Only issue was after final payment, they forgot to tell the airline we had paid, but a call took care of that. We stayed at the Hotel Von, very close to downtown, and within walking distance to several landmarks, which we did while waiting for our room.Small room, but very clean and perfect for the two of us. A restaurant shares the lobby, but technically not part of the hotel. We ate there quite a bit and enjoyed it. Be advised that food in Iceland is very expensive. We did a small group Golden Circle tour with Gateway to Iceland, booked through Trip Advisor. We would use them again. We used Celebrity for shore excursions in Isafjordur and Akureyri, mostly because there just wasn’t much to book. Both had stupendous scenery, lovely people. Several trips would not cover the sights Iceland has to offer. Greenland. The trip through Prinz Christian Sund was probably the highlight of this cruise. Even the rainy, chilly weather couldn’t affect the glorious scenery. Mountains, glaciers and some narrow waterways. We even entered a small inlet where the Summit did a full 360 turnaround so the glacier could be viewed from everywhere on the ship. I am not sure the Eclipse next year will be able to duplicate this since spaces were tight! Nanotorlik. A tiny little town which might have had more to offer if the rain, wind, and 40 degree temps hadn’t interfered. Our tour, a small boat tour of the fjord was cancelled. I think the locals were a bit bemused at the sight of so many crazy tourists who didn’t have the sense to get out of the rain. St. John’s, Newfoundland. A neat, colorful city with an even more colorful history. We booked a walking tour through Viatour, which DH enjoyed. I didn’t make it, more on that later. Halifax, booked a small group Lunenberg tour through Viatour. We had been to Halifax before and wanted to see more of the province. We did get Peggy’s Cove again, I think almost every tour does it, but there have have been improvements. Walking is much safer and is now accessible. It’s still as pretty as ever. We did manage to beat the large tour busses, always a major plus. Lunenberg is a very small lovely city. We also got some great coastal views of both Mahone’s and St. Margaret’s bays. Boston. Disembarking was simple. We walked a block and got a much cheaper Uber home. SUMMIT The ship may be getting older, but you’d have to look for evidence. Immaculately clean and maintained. A couple of times restrooms needed attention, generally near the theater or Sky Club, but they were near the crowds. Service was what I expect from Celebrity, crew friendly, helpful and seemed grateful to have us onboard. I found only one instance of not quite rude disinterest, and that was at Customer Service. But, having seen and heard some of the things they deal with, it could be considered understandable. Room. We booked somewhat late and the only rooms available were inside and ocean view. We were in 2074, a deluxe ocean view, and enjoyed it. We felt no need to have a balcony crossing the Atlantic so far north and didn’t miss it. Our room attendant, Akhmead, was great. Entertainment was fine, we aren’t huge show people and the music in the lounges was pretty good. Food. The buffet was good, a lot of choices and generally were well prepared. My major problem was the prepared scrambled eggs. I suspect eating them was the reason I missed the walking tour. I didn’t keep them down very long. Specialty dining. We ate at both Tuscan and Sushi on Five. Food quality was excellent, and service excellent. Easily the best food we had on this cruise, but not something we’d want to do everyday. MDR. A major disappointment. DH will eat anything, literally, but he couldn’t finish the NY strip steak. Tough and overcooked. Beef was often not cooked to order. The appetizers were fine, but choices are limited and repetitive. Desserts were ok, except one night we and our dinner companions all rejected the apple pie, and DH actually complained. It did get better, but I am now under orders to bake a “real” apple pie. Celebrity simply has to increase the choices and quality of the food served. FINAL THOUGHTS Our last cruise on Celebrity was September 2021 on our private yacht, the Summit. Nothing will ever equal the attention all 300 of us received, but there was nothing to complain about for service this time. There is still much to appreciate about the Summit. You can always find something to eat, but there are areas that need work. In Celebrity’s defense, and we don’t consider ourselves cheerleaders, the MDRs on the other three lines we sailed were at best mediocre. From reading various threads, I think Celebrity has done a lousy job with longtime cruisers who no longer feel appreciated or wanted, which is a really dumb marketing move. We don’t sail suites except for a one time lovely Sky Suite upgrade, but I understand if you pay (a lot!) for something, you should get what was advertised. And even though the cruise lines are desperate to shed the crushing debt they incurred, I don’t think some of their cutbacks are beneficial, or smart. But Celebrity is doing a lot right. We have 2 cruises coming up and will book again when the 2025 schedule comes out. If anyone has specific questions, I will do my best to answer.
  6. Hi all, first cruise since the Summit March 2020 cruise that got rejected for disembarkment in Puerto Rico, stuck out in the water, had to sail to Ft Lauderdale, internet went down and couldn't find our way home until the last minute. Then (being from Canada) they were threatening to shut the border down before boarding our flight. Was extremely stressful. We have just booked 7 nights on the Celebrity Ascent in March and I just cannot wait. What is a must do on these new Edge class ships? I see the Daniel Boulard restaurant is on this ship, has anyone tried it on the Beyond? Also with the All-in option, tips are included but they have another option to add tips in the "manage reservation" section. I'm sure this is just a mistaken "double up"? Thanks all!
  7. Hi, we plan to book the steakhouse but left it a bit late so not many time slots are available. Does anyone know the menu for the Oct 13 10 day cruise out of Boston as we don't want to miss the formal nights and I would love to pick a night when the food in the mdr is blah (to me). Thanks!
  8. We have a sailing on Summit coming up next month. We have some credit to use, and I had planned to purchase the wine by-the-bottle package (3 or 5 bottles at a set price) that I had seen on previous cruises on the Equinox. They are not listed as an option on my cruise planner. Have they eliminated them or are they just not available on the Summit?
  9. Just off the Summit in Iceland and arrived home today. Started coughing and tested positive for Covid. Anybody else experienced Covid yet? Be sure to test so you can get Paxlovid right away.
  10. Thanks to @fstuff1 for reporting on this. Is this on the summit only or could this be a new fantastic fleet wide addition?
  11. I would really appreciate it if someone could post photos of the current drink menus on the Summit that show the wines available by the glass. Asking for my wife and daughter who are taking a girls cruise soon on the Summit. Thanks so much!
  12. The other threads are getting muddy so here are the highlights (maybe lowlights - depending on who you are) of changes announced today. Equinox - 2025 season shifts from South America to Port Canaveral. -No ship has been announced for 2025 South America -Equinox does mostly 7 night cruises from Port Canaveral including Coco Cay Summit - the winter 24/25 season will move from San Juan to Fort Lauderdale. -There are still some gaps in the schedule or what they have posted isn't fully updated -5/7/9 night routes Apex - the October 2024 dry dock will be pushed out to March 2025. -A new fall TA will go on sale next week (Southhampton to FLL) -4 new 6 and 7 night Caribbean cruises will go on sale including Coco Cay Constellation - canceling the 9/12 night Caribbean routes -ship remains in Tampa -shifts to mostly 7 night Caribbean itineraries New deployments should go on sale next Thursday 8/22.
  13. Thinking this is just an error but seeing kids menu choices on BLU menu for upcoming NE/Canada cruise in Sept. Presume it’s just an error? Have others noticed that? Will eventually call but just asking here as no time to spend an hour on the phone today. 🤷🏻‍♀️
  14. We have a family trip with a party of nine, three staterooms and a suite. Trying to book dining together and the website will not let you select more than eight people for a booking. I booked through a TA. Am I better off contacting her, or reaching out to Celebrity directly?
  15. Day 3 on Summit, this is our first cruise(s) since 2017. Staff on the ship is great as always and very helpful and attentive room attendant. Ship is in good shape, mattresses are comfortable. We are in Concierge so had lunch in the MDR shortly after boarding, it was good. Other than that we go to the OVC. , We have been to the two shows so far, and will this evening. First night was a comedian, he was pretty good. Last night was December63, a vocal group, they were okay but probably will skip them when they are on again. We are feeling our way around after the 6 year absence. In Halifax today, it's mid 60s.
  16. My husband and I will be sailing on the Summit next week as it leaves Iceland. We had a guaranteed balcony reserved and got bumped up to the 10th floor forward cabins. Has anyone been in these cabins? My concern is possibly seasickness. I have never been this high up and forward before. Looking forward to this cruise!
  17. Good morning. A few questions about Summit 1100-1136 cabins. I have checked the M Class Cabin spreadsheet and some info seems to be inconsistent and contradictory. Also, the very aft Aqua cabins are booked. 1. Noise. Thinking cabins 1106-1110 would be more quiet. Away from door and behind the speakers of the theatre? 2. How to tell if bed is by balcony or bath? I’ve always found a cabin that I was sure of the bed location and counted every other cabin to get the bed placement. I have seen a video of cabin 1120 and bed is by the bath. If you count every other cabin to 1106, 1106 would have bed by balcony, but on the spreadsheet it says bed is by the bath. Anyone have first hand experience? 3. Cabins 1100-1136 which cabins have the largest balconies? Thanks for you help!
  18. Thinking of getting a Sky Suite on Summit, does the retreat have an outdoor bar or pool area like the Apex, Edge etc. ?
  19. Trying to plan our mornings so we actually get some sleep but breakfast is our favorite meal and we don’t want to miss all the offerings. Full breakfast buffet ends at 10am and forget the dining room ending at 9am (lol). Is the “late breakfast” on the Summit drastically smaller for choices?
  20. I broke down and purchased the internet package this time to keep in touch with the cat nanny so I figured I’d try my first ever LIVE cruise report. This cruise is extra special because it’s “doctor’s orders” that I get some peace and rest. I recently had some abnormal scans and am in the midst of ruling things out with more scans. So, peace and rest is my RX for the next week. One day at a time… This LIVE will hopefully bring you the PEACEFUL moments onboard the Summit and Bermuda. I’ve sailed on the Summit and have been to Bermuda many times, last was in 2019. I used to work as a production show singer for X way back in the 90’s and spent 3 seasons in Bermuda. Much has changed but much has not. I’m traveling with my teenage son and husband and we will be doing our usual Bermuda routine and I’m so happy to take you along. Right now, it’s not too peaceful. I’m sitting amongst the packing “piles”. However, soon we’ll be “Saiillling…” (insert Christopher Cross song by the same name). Fozzie Bear the cat is not too happy seeing the pre cruise piles. Sea ya soon!
  21. This is my review of our July 9th sailing on the Celebrity Summit to Bermuda. This was my family’s first time sailing with Celebrity, though in the past we’ve sailed with RC, NCL, and Carnival. My wife and I celebrated our 25th Anniversary while onboard. Hopefully this might help someone decide on Celebrity, the Summit, or the Bermuda itinerary. I tried to break the review into categories, but some overlap, and I certainly won’t have the fortitude to cover absolutely everything. Ship The Summit was great! The interior of the ship felt modern and spacious, not at all indicative of it’s age. I understand it was refurbished within the past several years – Celebrity did a great job with this! Our last cruise, several years ago, was on an RC mega ship. The Summit is noticeably smaller, which felt like a positive change. It didn’t take forever to get from A to B, didn’t feel as crowded, and having less ‘can’t miss activities’ made the entire trip feel less hectic. We warned our teenagers that they should bring a book to read because there won’t be Wave Riders, climbing walls, slides, zip lines, etc. In the end they didn’t read much because the basic internet service included with the room was good enough for them to play their favorite cell phone games. I only noticed a short lag if I was pulling up an online photo album and the pictures would load one at a time instead of all at once. This was much better than I was expecting it to be. We were also able to text each other fairly reliably while onboard. While the pool area didn’t feel overly crowded, it was usually hard to find a lounge chair or table in the main pool area or Solarium by the time we got there. We aren’t early risers! I do have to mention the ‘bubble loungers’ in the Solarium pool. I don’t know what these are really called, but it is a series of parallel metal tubes arranged so that they roughly make the shape of a really wide lounge chair with room for 5-6 people on each side of the pool. You sit on these, kinda half in and half out of the water, and there are bubbles shooting up from below the tubes. This was super relaxing and our favorite part of the pool deck. Crew The crew of Summit significantly enhanced our enjoyment of this trip. The captain was engaging, the cruise director was entertaining, and everyone else was smiling and happy to help with whatever we needed. The staff in Blu really personalized the service and made us feel special, especially on the evening of our anniversary. My only complaint would be that occasionally some of the bartenders seemed to not know what they had available. I’m a craft beer guy and they often didn’t have the beer listed on their bar menu and little knowledge of what might be on hand outside of the mass-produced Bud/Miller/Coors/Corona products. Kudos to the staff that didn’t know, but took the time to have a look and see what they could offer me in the craft beer range of products. They often had craft beers not listed on their menu, or any of the bar menus for that matter. Other than this relatively minor issue, the entire crew was spectacular. Room My family was in connecting Aqua Class staterooms, which were spotless. We have two teenage sons, so squeezing into one stateroom probably would have been a bit uncomfortable, but the connecting rooms gave us plenty of space. We were in rooms 9122 & 9124 in the aft-ish area. This location provided very convenient access to dining. Being right around the corner from the aft elevators and stairs, we could walk up one flight directly into the buffet or down to floor 5 and be right outside of Blu. Being under the buffet, there were only a few times during the cruise that I noticed noise from above, and even then it was a single instance, not an ongoing issue. Our stateroom attendant(?), Lenard, was great -> always a smile and hello when he saw us and if we were coming down the hall with our hands full he would open our door for us with his key card. He even made some towel swans with rose petals on the evening of our anniversary. One of the benefits of staying in Aqua class is access to the Asian Gardens. This included a steam room, sauna, and salt therapy room, as well as a ‘waterfall shower’ and heated bench in the main area. If you like steam rooms and saunas you’ll probably like this too. We did this once and it was okay, but for me it wasn’t something I’d prioritize visiting. Food The food onboard was excellent! We ate in Blu most evenings and while the main dining menu was available, we only ordered a few items off of it during the course of the week. There were a few times we had to wait for a table depending on when we showed up, anywhere from 10-20 minutes. This wasn’t an issue because they provided a beeper for when a table was ready and Cellar Masters was right around the corner, so we all went there and had a pre-dinner drink while we waited. One evening, after a bit of a wait, I was concerned we were going to miss the show. We let our waiter know that we were hoping to make it to the show and he took our orders and expedited our starters. As soon as we finished the starters, he had the main courses ready to deliver. We didn’t have time for dessert, but he took our orders and said he would have it sent to our staterooms, where it was waiting for us after the show! Our sommelier, Reagan, was fantastic! We don’t have a ‘usual’ drink, so he seemed to enjoy concocting fruity non-alcoholic beverages for my teens, and finding my wife and I something delicious to drink with our meal. I’m more of a craft beer guy than a wine drinker and he managed to find me a beer that I didn’t even know was available…not on any of the bar menus. We really enjoyed his smile and service! Our final dinner was in Le Petit Chef. The food here was also very good, but the show on the tabletop is the real reason to eat here. The menu is limited to one set course that goes along with the animation and another set of backup options (you can mix and match between the 2 sets). After having experienced the novelty once, I don’t see myself choosing this over Blu…though I thought it was definitely worth it the first time around. My one complaint about ‘food’ isn’t really the food itself, but the opening times of Blu and the MDR. Breakfast ends at 9am in these venues. As mentioned above, my family are not early risers, so to get seated at Blu before 9am was usually a struggle. Since they don’t serve lunch in Blu it would have been nice to have breakfast served a little later. Shows I thought the shows were hit or miss (which of course is subjective!). The comedian was very funny, both during his normal set and the late-night ‘adult only’ set. The ‘adult only’ set didn’t seem to be policed for children (I’m not complaining, only noting this in case it’s pertinent to future cruisers). The magician was a good change of pace, but did a bit too much close up magic that we had to watch by it being broadcast on a big screen. The singing/dancing shows, to me, were ho-hum. The house musicians, singers, and dancers are clearly talented, but they aren’t given great material to perform. For example, there was a Soundtrack show that I assumed was to be music from movies. While there was a James Bond theme medley and Somewhere Over the Rainbow (plus probably others that I didn’t recognize), there were other pop hits from the past decade thrown in for no apparent rhyme or reason. And a lot of the more upbeat music seemed to be toned down a bit. It was enough to hold my attention for 45 minutes or so but was pretty meh. It would be nice if they could weave a story or theme through the entire show, so it isn’t just a string of disconnected performances. Bermuda The island of Bermuda was beautiful and the people there were friendly and welcoming. Of any cruise port we’ve ever visited, this is the island my entire family would love to come back to. On our first day we took the ‘shipwreck snorkel’ excursion booked pre-cruise through Celebrity. Unfortunately, it was too windy to complete the trip as planned, but we were able to take a glass bottom boat over the shipwreck and then snorkel in a more protected area. Overall, a good experience. In the afternoon we had lunch at the Frog & Onion pub and played minigolf at the port. The minigolf course there is very well done. We visited Harbor Nights in the evening, taking the Hamilton ferry there and back. It was a nice evening out, but I wouldn’t consider it a can’t miss activity. I will say that the vendors were much better than some at other cruise ports. They were not pushy at all and pretty much stayed in their stall and waited until we needed help. The 2nd day we took the Hidden Gems tour which we booked on our own. This was also a great tour – cave exploring, cliff jumping, lunch and snorkeling. Our tour guide was very entertaining. The final day we did some shopping at the port and took a taxi to Horseshoe Bay and back. We only had about an hour to enjoy the beach, but it was very enjoyable and had decent snorkeling too. This post is already much longer than I thought it would be, so I’m going to stop here. I’m happy to answer any questions or talk about something I haven’t covered though, just ask. I HIGHLY recommend this ship and itinerary. As a matter of fact, I told my wife I’d happily cruise this same ship and itinerary again. Based on our experience we’d definitely sail with Celebrity again in the future!
  22. Now that the final pre-trip laundry has been done...let's get this party started!! Hi! I'm Beth! I'm a Special Education teacher in NYC who loves traveling! My birthday is next week, and I decided what better way to celebrate than on a cruise!! I'll be on the Summit to Bermuda - first times for both of those. This will be my second Celebrity cruise - the first was on the Edge in Feb 2020 - and 16th cruise overall (1 Emerald Seas, 1 HAL, 3 Royal Caribbean, 2 fathom, 1 Celebrity (not counting this one), and 7 Disney) and the first time I'm able to simply take a car service to the port! Going out of Bayonne, NJ! My TA warned me about the dangers of that - not having to worry about checking a bag on an airplane, and it's true so I'm using a bigger suitcase than normal. LOL. My fur baby Merida will be at home and her pet sitter will come in to check on her. And yes, being a typical cat, she has hopped in the suitcase more than once! Having a kinda busy week leading into the trip - Shania Twain concert tonight; blood donation tomorrow; Jazz Nite at my church tomorrow night; movie day on Friday; Mammogram on Saturday followed by a roots touch-up - so laundry today finished up a couple of shirts I'm taking and other than last-minute stuff and shoes I'll wear tonight or tomorrow, packing is DONE! I'm in Aqua Class - cabin 1141! First time Aqua and first time with a wake view (and first time in Blu - YAY!)!! Super excited about that!! I'm doing 3 ship-based excursions: Famous Homes and Hideaway Cruise; White Night Catamaran Sunset Sail (on my birthday!!); Devil's Isle Cruise and Beach Snorkel. I'm also doing Captain Kirk's Glass Bottom Boat and Snorkel trip during the day on my birthday that I booked independently. I've upgraded to the premium internet, so hopefully I'll be able to keep this one going live. 😄 I've only done one other one when I was on the Edge, so hopefully I'm doing it right! 5 more days!!!!
  23. Does the Tuscan Grill on the Summit have tables for 10?
  24. It's been 6 years since we have been on a cruise, or any type of vacation. We will be B2B on Summit in a few weeks. We have been so looking forward to this trip, and these cruises, but all the negatives I've been seeing about X has me wondering. (MDR not a problem because we don't dine there.) If someone currently on Summit would share what they are seeing and experiencing, I will appreciate your notes. Condition, cleanliness, service, entertainment? Thank you.
  25. With Summit not going to Bermuda next year, we will be cruising on Eclipse. For those who have sailed both- what are the differences that we can expect on Eclipse? How much bigger does it feel than Summit. We have sailed Summit so many times it feels like home and now we feel like we are moving into a new home. Laura
