  1. Has anyone sailing on the Summit used a free parking pass at Cape Liberty? Were you able to park in the garage and was redeeming the voucher an easy process process? We are sailing on the Summit on July 28 and I haven't been able to find any info on the boards about the free parking vouchers. Thank you in advance for any info.
  2. Hello. I have been looking, but have not seen any definite info. Has anyone ever requested and received a rollaway bed? We will be in a suite and my two teenage boys can not fit on a pull out well. Thanks!
  3. Can anyone verify if the new OV rooms on port side/mid ship, deck 3 are the same size, etc. of the starboard mid ship rooms that start near the bathrooms? I have read that the toilet bowl sits considerably higher than standard ones too. I have read that the rooms on port side have the same huge round window as the ones on starboard side. If anyone has been able to compare them to each other, can you please tell me your thoughts. Thank you. Also, if anyone has any pictures as to how 3112 compares to 3114, I'd love to see them.
  4. Hi all ... We sailed in a Cat 9, midship inside cabin on the Infinity and just loved it. We were in cabin 7903 and our friends in 7901. The cabins were much larger than the normal inside cabins and the layout was very unique to each one of these cabins as well. There was also one to the side of us, 7905 and three just below us on deck six. Anyway, the unique layout and size of these cabins made an inside cabin very palatable. Now, I am looking at the deck plans on the Summit and they also have cabins in the same places but the deck plans don't show them to be the larger cabins as on the Infinity. I can find no specific information or even one review on these cabins on here or FB or google ... not anywhere. Can anyone confirm if these cabins are the same size as the ones on the Infinity and if so, any other particular pros and cons of staying in one of these cabins?
  5. We always book veranda staterooms, but for the cruises were interested in, verandas are not available but some consierge on deck 7 are. Besides the prices being more, what can you tell me about Consierge staterooms?
  6. We are thinking of booking a cruise on Summit next year for our 25th Anniversary. Never been on Celebrity before so we are wondering what the food is like. Recently we have cruised on P&O Britannia - yes the food in the MDR is not so good, but we tend to pay the supplement and eat in Epicurean which is probably on a par with the Michelin star restaurants we have eaten in. Can anyone let me know what the MDR and speciality food is like. I've seen pictures taken by passengers - some of it looks pretty grim tbh - but some photos it looks great. I've heard Celebrity is the cruise line for foodies??? Thoughts and comments welcome.
  7. My friend and I are sailing on the Summit this summer. I like to work out with Pilates, spin, and yoga. Are any of these classes available iin the fitness center? If they are and you took them, how were they? Thanks for any insight that you may have.
  8. Hello Celebrities! I need help. Celebrity royally messed up our reservation around final payment. As a result we had to battle Celebrity for my Handicapped Cabin back ( legs don’t work well after accident ) other bennies ... Friend got a free inside cabin near us and all AC benefits - they changed the classification to a double instead of a triple. we can dine in Blu or Main Dining we can take advantage of alternate dining at no charge all 7 nights We are flagged as VVIP’s (yes, it was Celebrity was that bad) I need your help! our friend and I our adventurous and will try anything. Hubby (the kindest man on the plant) is a Meat and Potatos kind of guy. He now enjoys salads thanks to giant Maryland tomatoes, not much on vegetables, WILL try soups and after a childhood of fish sticks on Fridays he eats NO seafood. 😢. I have tried. i want my Jim to enjoy Celebrity. So far, he is a dedicated Royal Caribbeanator. We were married on the Radiance. We can dine anywhere. What do you suggest?? I was pretty seriously sick earlier, only made final payment because we have Travel Guard Trip Insurance. I’m better enough to give it a try as long as we take it easy. Dining will be fun. We can finally plan and I want my Jim to have a fabulous time as I sit and sun on our ginormous balcony. 59 days from today to Bermuda. Thank you for your suggestions. 👍❤️
  9. They just evacuated a little girl, mom and the doctor from the Celebrity Summit cruise ship. The little girl had severe abdominal pains and the coast guard lifted them off the ship viva the basket operation. Everything went well and they are now at the hospital. The crew did a great job getting them off the ship. It’s quite a process and a lot of antennas, poles and devices need to be moved before the helicopter can hover over the ship.
  10. Can anyone tell me how the beds work in a corner family veranda M class? It shows as 2 squares and I see in photos there are 2 sofas in that area. If one is needed as a bed, which one and when made up as a bed, how accessible is the balcony?
  11. Looking at the current deck plans for the Celebrity suites on the Summit it looks like they have balconies. But we were in a Celebrity Suite (on the hump) way back when the Summit was new and I would swear we did not have a balcony. I can't remember what year it was, but we cruised on Summit in Alaska. I remember sitting in the window watching the scenery on the Inside Passage. What year did they reconfigure the cabins - or am I living an alternate reality? Thanks!
  12. I've just booked my first cruise on Celebrity - will be visiting the southern Caribbean aboard the Summit. It looks like a beautiful ship and I see it has been recently upgraded. I've spent a few hours looking over things on the website, but did not see answers to a few questions: 1. Can I carry on a bottle of wine? Can I carry on soft drinks? (I was able to do so on Carnival and Princess) 2. Can I order bottled water for the room? All I see are drink packages and wine/liguor. 3. We're concierge class, so I know there are extra perks. What did you find the most beneficial? 4. I've had a hard time finding a list of free v. pay restaurants on board. MDR, Mast, Buffet are free. Am I missing anything? Thanks for your patience with me as I navigate this new-to-me cruise line. You can bet I'll be doing lots of reading here.
  13. New to Celebrity and when reading about how the ship has been updated, noticed this spot on Summit deck plan while considering a last minute cruise to Bermuda. I've heard of movie screens over pool areas but not on back of the ship. What movies are currently being shown and when? Also wondering if it's only on sea days/nights and if seats are by reservation only. As I like to find a good place to sit and read with a view, are passengers allowed to use this area when movies are not being shown? Guessing it might get pretty hot up there during the day, especially while docked in Bermuda but sea days might be lovely.
  14. Hello Folks, Please give me advise on what to expect. Help on: drink package- any discount like Royal? dining package, types Feed back on the ship? elite perks check in process and anything else you think is important. Thanks
  15. Hi Everyone -- We are booked in a C1 aft balcony on Millenium in August (with the large extended balcony). I haven't been able to locate any pictures of furniture on the balconies in these rooms since the refurbishment. The point of getting these is to have the extra space which includes the furniture including loungers and the table/chairs! I've been underwhelmed at the balcony pictures I've seen after refurb from other rooms on the ship. I'm wondering if anyone has been able to find any pictures of any of the aft balconies on either of these ships to give some idea of what they may look like now. Thanks in advance!!!
  16. Hi, we set sail on Summit to Bermuda on Sunday (7/7/19). Still have not heard if our bids for upgrades (we bid on Celebrity Suite and Royal Suite; we are booked in a Sky Suite) have been accepted or rejected. I am guessing at this point they have not been accepted. We don't mind so much as we will enjoy our Sky Suite. But really how long do they expect guests to wait to hear if their bids are accepted or rejected? In any case we are very much looking forward to sailing on Sunday. 🙂
  17. I’ve read about some bad Select dining experiences, mostly dealing with long lines and wait times, even with reservations, which in itself seems to defeat the purpose. Is this the exception or the norm?
  18. Welcome aboard to all those that choose to follow along on our next adventure. All are welcome and I will try my hardest to answer any qustions and post information that may be helpful to other Cruise Critic Members. We weren't planning on doing another cruise until October but I was bitten by the Cruise Bug. I was browsing the Fishy Site in the "Deals" section and found a really inexpensive Aqua Class Senior rate of $1,199 pp plus 289 Tax & Port for a total of $2,976 for an 11 day New England and Bermuda cruise on June 5. When looking a bit further, I found the June 16 cruise priced about the same. As many of you who have followed our blogs may surmise I am the planner and love planning cruises as much as the cruise itself. Hmmm, how was I going to talk Iain into taking a cruise so close to our last? To my delight Iain was on-board and suggest I book both. These prices included NO PERKS, which was what we were looking for now that we are Zenith and get most of our perks gratis. Our agent was able to have a B2B credit applied as well as offered us $250 OBC for each cruise. I next applied for a Stockholders Credit and was given a partial credit due to receiving the B2B credit.
  19. Very small! Veranda is tiny. But convenient. These are the added cabins where salon used to be. Can see why downgraded to verandas.
  20. We will be on a Summit to Bermuda cruise. We are in Bermuda 3 days. Can we stay out as late as we want or do we have a time we have to be back on the ship by? It never crossed my mind until I was looking at the Celebrity app and it had All Aboard times listed.
  21. Let’s see what we can dig up on Summit Revolution. I thought she was heading to Dry Dock today but just filed plans show she is heading to Port Everglades arriving on 16th Unless this is incorrect.
  22. My DH and I just returned from a 7-night cruise on Summit in our first-ever Sky Suite, so I thought I'd take a moment to share my review of our Luminae experience. I also reviewed the ship/cruise in general, which you can find here. We have sailed the S-class several times and after our first cruise, elected not to return to the MDR. Since then we have eaten in Blu or specialty restaurants most of the time, but since Summit has limited specialty options, we decided to take the suite plunge and try Luminae. A bit about me: I am an avid cook, read food blogs/magazines religiously, bake breads and experiment with natural yeasts, make my own cheeses and sausage, and I’ve taken courses in pastry and sugar art. We live in NYC, so we are privileged to be surrounded by some of the world’s finest restaurants, as well as really fantastic ethnic foods. I realize that taste is subjective, but quality and skill of preparation generally are not, so I will try to include both opinions and objective observations here. I know I have high standards, but since Celebrity markets Luminae and the Suite Life as a high-end experience (with a price to match), I feel that they should be up to the task of meeting (or exceeding) them! Talking about and critiquing food is one of my favorite hobbies, so I apologize in advance for the length of this review. Since a picture (even a poor one like mine) is worth 1,000 words, I have included those as well. I'll put each day in a separate post to make it a little easier to read and digest! And now - the review!
  23. Hello everyone. We have sailed the Summit many times and were very disappointed that they removed the canopy that used to cover the bar and many table areas. We always hung out there but can't anymore. There is no shade, so you bake in the sun either at the bar or at a table. If it starts to rain, even a light sprinkle, everyone leaves. I was speaking to one of the bartenders and he said the water runs down onto the bar. They could put the canopy back on , have some form of illumination to highlight this very poor design choice. At lease people can still hang out and not bake or get wet. Most everything on their upgrade was good, but this was just dumb. Any opinions?
  24. For the newly refurbished cabins on the Summit - I am asking a question about the Aqua Class cabins on deck 11 - both port and starboard - (not the cabins totally aft facing wake). Are you still able to remove balcony dividers between cabins - I know you could previously on this deck - hoping it has not changed. We have 3 cabins in a row and would like to open them for easy access outside on balconies with our friends. If anyone has sailed recently since the updates, I would appreciate any information or pics you could offer. Thanks for your trouble!
  25. So, this is my first time on Celebrity. We have been on lots of cruises....Carnival, NCL, RCCL, and Disney (husband and Mother-in-law have been on Holland America, and Oceania) and we are looking forward to trying something new. Does anyone stay in the inside cabins? I've seen lots of info about the Pent House, and all the suites, and the retreat and the special restaurants, but what about the "regular" people? We will have me, my husband, mother-in-law and teenage son. I know it is going to be tight with all of us, but we have done it before. Looking forward to the new look, even though we have nothing to compare it to. How does everyone like the MDR? Should we do the set time dining or anytime? How is the buffet in the evening? How dressy is everyone on regular nights? What is the "not to miss" dessert? What is your favorite entree? What's the best pizza? Any suggestions on cruising Celebrity style would be greatly welcomed!
