  1. Starting this a tad late but since it is my first foray on Celebrity I wanted to see how the internet performed before starting. My last live on NCL fell apart due to internet. This internet seems great so let’s give it a go. I wanted to try Celebrity to look for a new “home” since I do not feel like I personally fit with NCL lately. I blog about all my cruises so feel free to read all about it or the more minute details of this cruise as well. Alpacamybagsblog is where you can find all the details you do not really need and pictures as well. Back to this current trip, I am with my 20 year old daughter in an aqua class cabin. Check in was spectacular. Fastest of any cruise line I’ve been on! We did have to wait to board but it was very organized. Since I read they were fighting a virus outbreak, we opted for lunch at Sushi in Five. Superb, quiet and amazing start to trip. The cabin is on deck 11. It was ready at two. I love the colors and it has so much storage. We had an invite for helipad sailaway which was so cool to experience. Dinner was in Blu and at 6:20 we were given a pager. Waited about 20 minutes so we went to the bar. Wonderful filet for dinner! Afterwards, it was silent disco which was so much fun!
  2. Has anyone been able to use the Summit info on the X app on there Iphone?
  3. In the past, there were self-service stations for water, iced tea and coffee in different areas on the ship. Are these items no longer free? From what I am reading, water is now in cans. So do I have to purchase water?
  4. On our previous cruises, every night in our room, we received a daily activity sheet listing the events for the next day. Do they still do this or are we expected to use the app on our phone for everything? We are not getting the internet package so will this feature still work? Do we get room key cards that can be used to charge everything or is that done with the app too. I do not want to carry a phone with me.
  5. I will likely post once per day, and may get behind during our three port days in a row. Hope you enjoy reading our experience! Celebrity Summit A-B-C cruise Miami to Port Liberty NJ 4-26-23 We selected this sailing as the price was attractive AND we would visit family up north at the conclusion of the cruise. This eliminates one airplane flight and as flying is nearly always the worst part of any travel these days for us, that is a good thing! We had cruising friends from the west coast visit for a few days before the cruise and enjoyed a nice time showing them around. Wednesday, April 26, Embarkation Day We arranged a local car service, Air & Cruise LLC to pick us up and bring us to the Miami cruise port. Andy was a terrific driver and due to some traffic around the Fort Lauderdale construction and a necessary stop, we arrived at the Miami port at 10:55. We had the 10:30-11:00 check in time. Check in was about the best we have experienced in the post-covid era. Arriving at 10:55 we were check in on onboard dropping our bags in our cabin, with the ‘muster drill’ check in already completed at 11:15. Our cabin is inside #7901, right near the mid-ship elevators and stairs, two decks above El Bacio. We headed to Café El Bacio for our first special coffee and tea beverages of the cruise, as we have the classic beverage package. We made a few necessary phone calls and our friends found us. They are in a suite and were on their way to Luminae for lunch. We visited the maître de at the dining room to go over DW’s special dietary needs. We checked our table, and we have a nice two-top near a starboard window. That should do fine. DW obtained a nice red wine from Cellar Masters. I received a note from our friends that they were able to obtain reservations for the Tuscan Grill at 7:30 with the first night discount, so we will join them tonight. We went up to the Oceanview for lunch. They had a very nice roast beef on the carving station. DW has been wanting pizza for a long time and the pizza station makes gluten-free pizza upon request. So, she requested and made a salad while she waited. They have quite a dessert display, so I snapped a few photos and picked up her pizza. It was a whole 12” pie, so she ate about half of it. I asked our waitress about making an Orange Crush and she checked with the sunset bar and they said they couldn’t make it. After lunch we visited the pool bar and they were very accommodating, making two frozen Orange Crush drinks. We then returned to Cellar Masters to return the glass and sat there a short while. We returned to our cabin to find our luggage had been delivered. That was terrific and we were unpacked 30 minutes later. After having just been on Constellation, we found there is less storage in the cabin on the redone Summit. Certainly the furnishings are more attractive, and there are plenty of USB ports and added power outlets, but there is little space to hang longer garments. The cabin has a modern thermostat that shows temperatures, but we find the stated temperature is not correct. It took a day of experimenting before we found that 67 on the thermostat is comfortable for us (but it was not really 67 degrees!) We found in our cabin an invitation to sail away on the helipad. We visited the sunset bar as there was to be an informal 3:30 cruise critic meet and greet. We did not find anyone wearing beads or otherwise identifying as cruise critic, so with no shady seats we moved on to the pool bar. We had a couple of beverages and sat in the solarium for a while at a table, and when we noticed the thrusters were active we headed down to deck 5 to the helipad. There was no line and we went right on out and up. Several drinks were being served from flavored water to island punch and cold wet towels were available. We found our friends out there as the ship moved into the turning basin by the Miami skyscrapers. It takes a while to make the turn and we enjoyed the sailing down the channel, passing an old NCL ship and a more recent RCL ship. Then we passed the construction zone for what appears to be a future massive MSC terminal “The future of cruising,” so they say. It was now 5:00 so we headed to the casino open house as I had a question for the casino host. We will miss the welcome aboard slot tournament tonight due to our later Tuscan Grille dinner. Both roulette tables are $5.00 minimum, and both are “0 & 00.” We returned to the cabin to rest up a while and get ready for dinner. We went to the casino bar for a few beverages. There was one gentleman playing roulette. As we left I looked at the recent numbers and they were positive for our play. We went to the show for comedian Corey Rodrigues. We could only stay until 7:22 but enjoyed his humor. He was introduced by the cruise director who informed us that the prior cruise had over 2400 guests, a very full ship. This sailing has 1270 guests and 970 crew, “So you don’t need to get up early to get a pool chair.” We arrived at Tuscan Grille at the exact same time as our friends. We had a very nice meal, with appetizers of Calamari, Pork Belly, salads, and various entrees. I enjoyed the rib eye, but likely should have ordered the filet. DW really liked her Barramundi, which was “Perfect.” Still, even with the 30% first night discount, this was $90 and change for the two of us. Worth it? Not to us and we won’t do this again. After dinner we called it a night, stopping at Cellar Masters for a few water bottles for the room. All in all, a very nice embarkation day.
  6. We will be cruising to Bermuda this June and would be most thankful if anyone who has been on the Summit in the past few weeks would let us know what the production showtimes are and perhaps other entertainment times so we may plan our dining times. Much appreciated. Thanks!
  7. Can anyone who has been on the Summit recently comment on whether or not the hot tubs are working. I saw a recent review that sated that all 6 hot tubs were not working 100%. It had to do with the water temperature and jets. I had heard the 2 hot tubs in the Solarium had problems. Are all the hot tubs broken? I also read of peeling paint at the pool and hot tub. Thank you
  8. We are presently on the ship and after a slightly delayed boarding due to a major cleaning all seems to be going well. We are still in sanitation mode and are unable to do typical dining things for ourselves but all in all this is a minor inconvenience compared to contacting noro. I do have a question because I am a bit off balance by what happened last night. Some background to know, friends of ours surprised us and showed up on this sailing to our delight. We had dinner with them in Tuscan Thursday night (first night of the cruise) which was fantastic but wear your stretchy pants because it is a lot of food. Friday we were at sea, and they wanted to just head to the buffet for dinner since they are not fans of the long hour and half dining experience. Saturday was a Bermuda day and although the weather was up and down after running all day again, we joined them at the buffet. Sunday, we found our table in the main dining room, and we were seated. This is the 8:30 assigned seating. We arrived at our table for two which is a row of 4 tables for a total 8 people in the row. The next thing that happened has shocked me because never in 24 years of cruising has anyone been so rude. The waiter approached us and said "nice of you to finally show up". He did not welcome us, he did not introduce himself, and he continued this cold shoulder throughout the dinner. When dinner was served, he placed the other 6 meals on the tables in the row we are part of, and the assistant waiter brought mine and my husbands out. He never asked if we needed anything else or how our food was. Before you ask, we were not late for dinner, we just had not gone to the main dining room because we had done other things which last time I checked this is still my right to do especially with the dining packages. We are going to go back again tonight and give the waiter another chance because everyone has a bad day sometimes this was just very unexpected. Not sure what I will do if this is a repeat performance. The rest of the staff has been fantastic and fun to speak with.
  9. Hi all! I am booked in a family veranda (I think they're now called Deluxe Veranda) stateroom on the 6.18 sailing on Summit to Bermuda. To make a VERY long story short, we've had some news in our family that's made two other family members now want to book on the trip too. The problem is, there are only Oceanview rooms available at this late date and that will not work for them. I've bid on a suite upgrade in the hope that maybe I'll get that, and then they could book my current cabin, I am checking the website hourly to see if anything opens up but so far nothing. I was told by one agent that their revenue dept. does hold some cabins in reserve, but another told me this sailing is sold out and they do not. Sometimes I log on and the website says "Check other dates" under a particular cabin type, other times it says "Sold out". So my question is... does anyone have any experience with cabins opening up very last minute before a sailing? Is that common? And/or does anyone know how I may be able to secure a veranda or higher cabin for my family on this sailing? Thank you SO MUCH for any tips, hints, tricks, etc.!
  10. We have not sailed with Celebrity since 2015, and I do not remember if the mattresses are any better than Royal Caribbean's, which are hard and uncomfortable. On Royal we bring on 3 or 4 inch foam pad and the cabin stewards are always happy to take them off our hands when we depart. Just wondering if I need to do the same on the Summit. TIA
  11. I'm gonna just write about the ship. Just off BTB 4 and 10, Miami, Key West, Nassau, ABC's, moving to Bayonne. Pretty full first trip, half full for second. No complaints about that for sure. Probably one of the best I've been on, as far as no lines, plenty of great deck seating, minimal chair savers, etc. Although towel clips, and other towel holding devices, books, and beach bags, did appear once our ports of call were done. Got chilly coming up the east coast of USA, so in turn, every solarium lounger was full of blanket covered sleepers. Gotta get up early to beat them. So anyway, there are many reasons for the continued success of this ship. Number one, is obviously Captain Nikolaos, and his crew. Very visual, friendly, hard working all day long. 98% said hello, good day, etc. While the ship itself could use some paint, and some continued refurbishing, it's overall shape was good. It's OLD. But the crew makes up for that and keeps it up. Harder to keep an older ship going I'm sure. I must say that the Oceanview was really good. I heard a few gripes, and am surprised at some nitpicking about the buffet. It is a large scale buffet. The food may not always be 500 degrees by the time you look at everything, make a choice, fill your plate, walk all the way around, and sit down. Freshly grilled chicken, thin pork chops, steak, several fish choices, were great. Indian cuisine was top notch. Stir fry was always busy, pizza was a bit floppy. Nonetheless, Bravo to the Chefs. Absolutely no cutbacks on anything. So put an end to that question. Some may not agree, but I think it was great. Seemed to be some training going on of new staff in there. It takes time. They will learn fast enough. Give them a chance. All ships are back now, so staffing may still be a bit of an issue. As usual, the mast grill was cranking out burgers, dogs, and fries, nonstop from open till close. Mr Bakir, and his staff in Tuscan, are excellent. Food was awesome, did 4nt specialty package, never a complaint. Did not dine at all in MDR. Never do, just our choice. Jerome and Zin at pool bar were awesome. AGUNG at Mast bar should have a Fitbit to track his steps. Making, serving, and delivering drinks all day long on Deck 11. Every ship needs these 3 guys. Overall great bar service, whether full or half capacity. Was pretty funny watching these Carribean, warm weather boys, wearing jackets when the temperature dipped. We had some good fun with that. Welcome to the Northeast. Shows were pretty good. DJ Music or band, The Seagulls, played on open decks, and others played or sung, around ship at certain times. Piano player in Al Bacio kept audience entertained. Edward our room attendant was fast, and great. Long hours for all that work on these ships. They are all grateful to be back working for sure. So what I'm really saying is, A ship is only as good as its Captain and crew, makes it. SUMMIT IS GREAT. Gonna miss her when she moves to Alaska..
  12. Looking at cabin #9165, 67, 69, 30 and 32. Can someone tell me if the bed when entering is on the left or right side? Also considering cabin # 8185. Love afts but I heard theirs a band that plays and it can be heard in the cabin...how late is there noise coming from this onboard venue and would you choose this cabin? Thanks from a long time RCI cruiser who is pretty new to Celebrity.
  13. Having previously sailed exclusively with Royal Caribbean, we thoroughly enjoyed the Summit last June. We are booked on the Infinity in December. How does Infinity compare to the Summit? Should we expect a similar experience?
  14. I looked though the CC threads, and cannot find, a current copy of a room service menu for Summit Suites. We are sailing on the Summit in 44 days. If someone has recently sailed on Summit, or is currently on Summit ,and screenshot a copy of the Room Service Menu to this thread, I would greatly appreciate it 🙂 . Thanks 🙂
  15. Ok, so what is open for lunch the day we board
  16. As I will soon be cruising on the Celebrity Summit, I was wondering about electric outlet availability throughout the ship, especially around the Cafe al Bacio. Are outlets plentiful or am I going to be on my own with just my laptop battery? Thanks!
  17. Is the onboard internet as bad as everyone says ? 🫤🫤
  18. Hi all , last year when we sailed on the Summit it was canned water, is it still?. The can had an aftertaste. Rather have bottled.. thx.
  19. Just back off 4 night Summit cruise , I will be brief. My thoughts: Embarkation was a cake walk. ( Miami ) Food was excellent in both MDR for dinner, Oceanview for breakfast and lunch. We did not dine in the specialty restaurants. Cafe Al Bacio was outstanding. Entertainment was good , one evening We thought is was great. ( I know this is subjective) Crew was wonderful in each and every venue and interaction. Bar service , waiters , Ocean View staff ….. Debarkation was also a cake walk , facial recognition rocks. Once again ( Miami ) We thoroughly enjoyed our cruise 🚢
  20. A lot of ships no longer have a library (for example, Apex).Does Summit have one? Thank you for replies!
  21. Been four years since I last sailed on Celebrity. Been on a number of Royal cruises in the past few years and I think the Windjammer quality and selection has gone downhill. Going on Summit and curious about fellow cruisers opinions. Thanks
  22. We are sailing on the Summit in a few weeks. Wondering which production shows are currently in the theater. Also, any comments on the other (singers, magicians, or comedians) who recently worked the Summit?
  23. Don't mean to start a panic, but wondering about the whereabouts of Summit next year. I've been thinking on and off about doing Bermuda in 2024, and noticed Eclipse is taking that itinerary. This is the first time I've noticed Celebrity re-assigning their ships, so color me lost and confused. Anyone hear anything .. Sold, re-deployed, etc. ? 🤯
  24. Hello, To anyone on the July 30, 2023 Summit to Bermuda sailing in AQ 1, I have been checking the cabins available on deck 11 once in a while to see if a sunset verandah AQ cabin would open up (had another cabin booked on deck 11 port side previously). Today, much to my surprise, three of them showed up available that were previously booked. Maybe a travel agent had them and released. In any case I grabbed one right away. I just checked and there are still two available if anyone is interested in grabbing one. Cheers
  25. We are eagerly awaiting out 10 day on the Summit, sailing in May. It's our first since the shut down and the Summit refurb and we have a lovely amount of OBC. For any Summit passengers, recent or current, do you know what cosmetic and facial care lines are being carried? Luxury creams is something I love to treat myself to, especially with what feels like "free money!" Thank you!
