  1. Is that how you measure passenger area on a ship? 99,000 /2660= 37. Is this ship going to feel crowded? the old Rotterdam was 44.
  2. HAL's Rotterdam departing from Rotterdam port 31/8 to Schevningen anchorage for the last time, before departing ror Rosyth, Scotland to join the othe Fred. Olsen ships. Sale cannot have taken place as ship is still registered in Rotterdam. Much sounding of fof horn.
  3. I made a harbour tour yesterday and made some pictures from the Damen Shipyard at the Botlek Rotterdam from the Rotterdam and the Amsterdam. Amsterdam was still in dock, Rotterdam was in the water again and was getting a technical inspection and a paint job (a lighter blue on the hull). The Holland Amica Line letters were already gone. Both ships looked very bad (like it has been told here before) from a long period at sea with no cleaning and a just a little maintenance. So sad to see them there. A couple of months ago they were busy cruising and being a safe home for a lot of people...look at them now. Just a small pick from the pictures I've made. Thanks for watching.
  4. Ms Rotterdam is scheduled to arrive in Rotterdam Monday August 10. Ms Amsterdam will follow few days later. After dry dock completed both ships will sail to Rosyth (Scotland). Peter
  5. Just received an email from HAL with all the dates & itineraries for the Rotterdam sailings. Hope the world is back to semi normal next year because we sure would like to be on one of those cruises.
  6. We were booked on the inaugural May/June 10 day cruise leg of the new Ryndam from Rome to Amsterdam. With the sale of the "older" Rotterdam, the Ryndam has been renamed as the new Rotterdam and due to Covid related manufacturing delays, our cruise from Rome has been rescheduled to August 8th. We are pleased that the cruise has been extended from 10 days to 14 days for the same cost. They had a tentative new itinerary when they sent the email explaining the delay and stated the itinerary may change. So I've been checking periodically and tonight I found that rather than stopping in Bordeaux, France, we are now spending the time in Rotterdam, Netherlands, which was not on the initial itinerary. We are very excited to be on this inaugural cruise when the MS Rotterdam pulls into its namesake city. We can only imagine the reception we will get!!
  7. Does anyone think HAL will replace the 17 day in and out of Boston that went to Greenland on the Rotterdam. I noticed Princess does a similar 16 night itinerary on the Caribbean Princess. Not as good of the HAL itinerary.
  8. I was booked on the 7/26/2021 Rotterdam Greenland cruise. Got the notice it was cancelled, got my deposit back as an FCC. Used the FCC already to book another cruise. The cruise is still showing up in my bookings. Called and they said it has been cancelled. Can still go in and book excursions, etc. Not sure why the delay in removing it from my bookings.
  9. The HAL press release for the new Rotterdam states that the ship will have "single accommodations". Does anybody have the details about these solo staterooms? I assume that they are inside staterooms and am wondering how many will be on the ship? Thank you.

  11. and will be considered HAL"s flagship. Delivery date is now July 2021. source: HAL Sales Dept.
  12. As the Rotterdam & Amsterdam are headed to Fred Olsen Cruises would you sail w that line instead of HAL???
  13. With the loss of the Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Maasdam & Veendam, I have removed all sailings on the future cruise listing for anyone sailing on the 4 sold ships. (Hopefully I didn’t miss anything 🙏🏻). It’s entirely possible that HAL might transfer some of these sailings to other ships that are remaining in the fleet. If that is the case for you, please repost your cruise details on the Future Cruise Listing just as you did originally. Here is the link for this week’s listing - Thank you 🙂
  14. We are comparing 2021,10 day Canada New England cruise on HAL, Celebrity, Princess. Celebrity has Blu and Princess has Club Class. Does HAL have a dining option for Balcony guests ? Also referring to 'Balcony' I saw a thread here that answered my questions on Lanai with the exception it implied there were Balcony options that were not Lanai. I think they were also on Promenade. But cannot see anything on Rotterdam Deck plans. Seems the only 'balcony' is Lanai or Vista Suite. Vista looks more like a Mini Suite to me and a lot more expensive than Lanai.
  15. Is there an update on how passengers and crew are doing after the ”rescue” efforts a couple months ago? I hope everyone who was or got sick is completely healed now.
  16. Please, I need some help selecting between three OV cabins (2702, 2704 & 2709) on Rotterdam. The itinerary is round trip so starboard/port doesn't matter much to us. I am wondering about 2704, though. On the deck plans, it looks slightly larger (wider) than the other two. But it is at the aft of the ship and, I believe, there is a covered deck out the back. I'm concerned it will be darker in the room because of the distance from the railing to the window, whereas the other two cabins don't have that issue. I did check HALfacts and there are no pictures of the three cabins. If anyone here on CC has stayed in 2704, would you please let me know how/why you enjoyed it? Can one go out to that deck or is it crew only? On another note, I saw that Rotterdam is coming up for a dry dock in December. Does anyone know if any of the OV cabins will get upgraded bathrooms like some of the other older ships have? Specifically, we require a shower only cabin which is why I'm currently stuck with the three choices above. Thank you!
  17. What size are the TVs in an oceanview stateroom?
  18. I noticed on MarineTraffic that the Rotterdam and the Nieuw Amsterdam are headed for South Africa and the Veendam set course for Gibraltar. Does anybody know why ? All three ships were ( hopefully are) due for European cruises. So at least the Veendam is going in the right direction but the others aren’t. As far as I am concerned they are welcome in their homeport of Rotterdam . They can join the World Dream that has been berthed in port since a drydock in Rotterdam four weeks ago. Plenty of space at an unused container terminal.
  19. Prior to shutting down because of covid-19 the Zaandam and Rotterdam were scheduled for short refurbishment in dry dock. I presume these have been concelled. Does anyone know ehat HAL has decided to do?
  20. Another day and another two fine Dam ships in Port Everglades for bunkering, etc. Vaandam is confirmed for a 6.45 am arrival to pier 19 and scheduled for a 6pm departure. Rotterdam is scheduled for a 8.30am arrival to pier 21 and scheduled for a 5pm departure. Also in port are Independence of the Seas (arr 6.15am, depart 4.30pm) and Caribbean Princess, which dock yesterday and is due to sail at 5pm The webcams can be found at https://www.portevergladeswebcam.com/ and https://www.ftlauderdalewebcam.com/ (don't forget that the Ft Lauderdale cam webpage has two cams! Tomorrow Wednesday, Zuiderdam is due to scheduled to arrive at 6 am and sail at 5pm.
  21. The Zaandam and Rotterdam have just rendezvous off Panama according to Cruisetracker.com. The Rotterdam is bringing medical supplies and additional supplies from the Oosterdam and medical staff. HAL sent the Rotterdam from PV as it is the fastest ship in the fleet. We did the WC on the Rotterdam in 1999 and have always enjoyed her. May these supplies and additional staff bring comfort to passengers and crew on the Zaandam.
  22. Just read that the Rotterdam is doing the Grand Africa 2021?? Not the Amsterdam???
  23. Just a heads up and probably meant only for us left coast sail-away die hards due to the time of day, night rather "R"-class lead ship Rotterdam, in port since Thursday, 02 Apr after providing extremely valuable assistance to her younger half-sister Zaandam since their Gulf of Panama rendezvous, is scheduled to depart Port Everglades tomorrow, 06 APR 20 at 22:22 hours (10:22 PM) Don't count on any "toeters" from co-hero Capt. Bas van Dreumel as his ship passes the condos along the entrance channel, due to the advanced hour of departure for some on the right coast which may, or may not, that is the question, coincide with the act of consuming a chalice of tepid moo juice in preparation for tallying a number of domesticated ruminant animals with thick woolly coats in the continuous act of cavorting over picket fences Her destination is listed as Puerto Vallarta, Mex. however that is highly unlikely since, as luck would have it, her original schedule also had her departing Port Everglades tomorrow for a trans-Atlantic crossing to her namesake city of Rotterdam, the Netherlands, arriving on 22 APR 20. Instead of the T/A, it is more likely however, that her journey will be relatively short and that she will join her fleet mates at one of the "hot lay-up" anchorages in the vicinity of Great Stirrup Cay The webcams can be viewed at: https://www.ftlauderdalewebcam.com/ https://www.portevergladeswebcam.com/
  24. Have the cabins on the Rotterdam been upgraded? TV on wall vice the desk. Thanks!
