  1. What are the best guesses for the whereabouts of the Zaandam in December 2021? I would book the Grand Africa + Grand World in a heartbeat if I could stay aboard in-between. I don't want to fly home for 3 weeks, nor do I want to stay in a hotel in Florida for same.
  2. Given the popularity of Lanai cabins and the Covid-19 emphasis on fresh air and access to the exterior in case of outbreaks or quarantines, what are the possibilities of the Zaandam receiving Lanais during her spring drydock?
  3. Holland America please move all the World Cruise staff that was on the Amsterdam to the Zaandam for the Grand Voyages. PLEASE.
  4. We are optimistically considering an August 2021 cruise on the Zaandam, but are concerned that all of the Vista Suites either have common areas above or below. Does anyone know of any of the Vista Suites on the Navigation or Veranda decks (only choices for vista suites) which have no noise issue with the areas above or below? Thanks,
  5. When they did the refurbishing in 2018 did they remove the little sink in the dressing area in the Neptune Suites or is it still there. Thanks
  6. Hello everyone! It’s me with another LIVE (ish) thread, although this one is an unplanned surprise. It has been a tumultuous year, thus far, so we booked some “You-and-Me-and-the-Sea” time. Cost was a factor as we have a big trip coming up in the Fall. We also had a narrow window of availability. We were lucky to find a *Private Sale on a Canada/New England itinerary which fit within the parameters. (*Proof positive that I can be bought. Or at least worn down.)

  8. Prior to shutting down because of covid-19 the Zaandam and Rotterdam were scheduled for short refurbishment in dry dock. I presume these have been concelled. Does anyone know ehat HAL has decided to do?
  9. Bunkering continues for our Dam ships with Zuiderdam confirmed to arrive at 7.00 am and berth at pier 26. She is listed to depart at 5pm ET. Zaandam had 'a sleepover' and stayed in port overnight. She is scheduled to depart today at 4pm. Also in port is Coral Princess, due to arrive at 5.15am and depart at 5pm The webcams can be found at https://www.portevergladeswebcam.com/ and https://www.ftlauderdalewebcam.com/ (don't forget that the Ft Lauderdale cam webpage has two cams!)
  10. I'm looking for info regarding the config of the Zaandam. Does it still have the original Crows Nest? Has Mix been transformed into Music Walk? Thank you.
  11. Another day and another two fine Dam ships in Port Everglades for bunkering, etc. Vaandam is confirmed for a 6.45 am arrival to pier 19 and scheduled for a 6pm departure. Rotterdam is scheduled for a 8.30am arrival to pier 21 and scheduled for a 5pm departure. Also in port are Independence of the Seas (arr 6.15am, depart 4.30pm) and Caribbean Princess, which dock yesterday and is due to sail at 5pm The webcams can be found at https://www.portevergladeswebcam.com/ and https://www.ftlauderdalewebcam.com/ (don't forget that the Ft Lauderdale cam webpage has two cams! Tomorrow Wednesday, Zuiderdam is due to scheduled to arrive at 6 am and sail at 5pm.
  12. Looking at the April 2020 New England/Canada cruise aboard Zaandam. Some reviews state that the Zaandam needs refurbishment and I guess is scheduled for that soon. Will the refurbishment be completed before or after the April cruise? Thanks in advance 🤔
  13. Just an FYI. https://www.businessinsider.com/holland-america-zaandam-rotterdam-crew-members-rescue-mission-stranded-2020-4 Be well. Bob
  14. The journey of the Zaandam, later joined by the Rotterdam, to Fort Lauderdale has now ended. Yesterday evening both ships were admitted to the port and have begun discharging passengers. The existing thread which followed their journey step by step, is over 116 pages and 4000 posts long. The original topic has been closed to new posts, but remains available for viewing: Please add further discussion of these two ships, their passengers and crew, here.
  15. Looking at booking a Neptune suite on a Panama Canal cruise on Zaandam. What is the expanded menu for breakfast etc. Club Orange... how does it work. Are the extra entrees worth it. What will we love in the Neptune Lounge? Thanks in advance.
  16. Since the ZAANDAM is scheduled for Drydock in Freeport, Bahamas, April 7 to 20, 2020, will it proceed or be canceled/rescheduled?
  17. The Zaandam and Rotterdam have just rendezvous off Panama according to Cruisetracker.com. The Rotterdam is bringing medical supplies and additional supplies from the Oosterdam and medical staff. HAL sent the Rotterdam from PV as it is the fastest ship in the fleet. We did the WC on the Rotterdam in 1999 and have always enjoyed her. May these supplies and additional staff bring comfort to passengers and crew on the Zaandam.
  18. News reports: 42 passengers/crew aboard Zaandam reporting "flu like" symptoms. All passengers confined to cabins now.
  19. Sirs: You have brought your ships, crew, and guests into safe harbor. Those that need help will now receive it. Those that yearn for the comfort of their own bed at home will have it. Your crew and yourself have brought much credit to yourselves during this crisis. My wish for both of you, when you retire for the night, is to have a sleep that is as restful as any that you have enjoyed. You have earned it. As has the members of your ships' officers and crew.
  20. Hi, my friend and I are booked on the Zaandam 04/21/2020 11 day FLL Repo to Montréal and just today received the Express Docs Reminder email. I just happen to call HAL yesterday (as weekends have little phone wait time) and the Rep told me the cruise is still on. I could cancel as we have CFAR Platinum Insurance, but would lose the 10% as well as the insurance cost. I told the Rep that Canada Ports are closed until July, but she said the cruise is not canceled. Has anyone on this cruise received Express Docs or have any information on the sailing? Could the Express Docs email be on a timer and thereby automatically sent. I just don’t know how we can sail to Canada when the ports are closed. Thanks everyone and stay well.
  21. Do you have a preference for the Zaandam or the Amsterdam? We are looking at rebooking a cruise for next year.
  22. Just got a message from passenger onboard. The cruise will end on March 21 in Santiago and all pax being flown home. Originally they were to continue to FLL. No reported any sick passengers. At least they still got to do the portion from buenos aires to santiago and saw antarctica..
  23. Any intel on what we should expect for the Thermal Suite on the Zaandam? We love it on the Nieuw Statendam, Zuiderdam, Westerdam......How does it compare?
  24. Our 10/31/20 14-day Southern Caribbean cruise on the Zaandam has been cancelled by HAL. I got an email notification late yesterday. In talking with our PCC, the cancellation appears to be related to the redeployment of the Veendam to Tampa and it sounds like at least a couple ships are impacted. The Zaandam might be moving to the west coast and taking over some of the Rotterdam's itineraries. I am not sure where the Rotterdam is headed. So keep your eyes peeled if you are booked on these ships in 2020! HAL offered us 3 alternative Caribbean cruise choices with $50 pp OBC (for an interior) and the same "per diem rate" that we had with the Zaandam. We also will keep our early booking bonus perks. We are inclined to take the 11-day Nieuw Statendam Southern Caribbean cruise on Nov 11 as the replacement if we can get a suitable interior cabin. I have heard that many of the interiors on the Nieuw Statendam are on the small side.
