  1. New West Coast itineraries posted today show Grand Princess in San Pedro on 12/5/21. Existing European itineraries show Grand Princess in Southampton on 11/22/21. Required WB T/A and P/C NB via Panama Canal would require "nominal" 24 knot nonstop voyage to meet 13 day transit. Obviously, this can not be accomplished ... did someone in Santa Clarita miss something? Voyage Data Distance 7525 nautical miles VIA Panama Canal Vessel speed 24 knots Time 13 days 02 hours
  2. Just received an email from princess stating our Norway cruise August 2021 would now be on the Regal instead of the Grand. No more info will be available until July 23rd. Keeping my fingers crossed we get our same cabin.
  3. I imagine that some of the grand princess obstructive view cabins are more obstructive than others? does anyone have any suggestions? thanks!
  4. Can anyone send me a link to where they are discussing this cruise please. I’m still waiting on reimbursement. Thank you!
  5. What is the dining room food like on the Grand Princess
  6. Princess was running a competition from 1/30/2020 to 9/5/2020, in which a video of each winning singer's performance would be reviewed by a panel of judges, and they'd then select 9 finalists for a "Grand Finale" to be held on the Royal Princess in early November. They've since had to cancel the competition, and hope to introduce a new competition when global operations continue. There are only a handful of winners, (including me) who qualified before the contest was cancelled. I've emailed customer relations, asking them to consider including our winning performances when the new competition begins. Originally, they planned on having 271 semi-finalists, so what's a few more!? The official rules, and cancellation announcement can be found here: https://www.princess.com/downloads/pdf/ships-and-experience/onboard-experience/entertainment/the-voice-of-the-ocean-competition-rules.pdf Competing in the Voice of the Ocean is really a wonderful experience. The band and production singers are all top-notch! https://youtu.be/ATmQwbMzv0E
  7. Suspect there the lawyers will be very busy with Grand, Coral, Diamond and also the other lines notably HAL with the Zaandam https://www.mercurynews.com/2020/04/09/grand-princess-passengers-sue-cruise-line-for-negligence-over-covid-19-outbreak/ But looks like the cruise lines are very clever? https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/investigations/2020/04/02/coronavirus-lawsuits-face-uphill-battle-against-cruise-industry/5111173002/
  8. https://www.ktvu.com/news/sonoma-county-set-to-declare-emergency-as-another-coronavirus-case-emerges-after-travel-to-mexico This is a little disturbing. In the article they don’t name the Grand. However, she was the only ship in port that day, and I know a few people who were on that sailing.
  9. https://twitter.com/princesscruises/status/1235631941883277312?s=21 We can also confirm the cancellation of the upcoming Grand Princess Hawaii cruise departing on March 7. All guests will receive a full refund of their cruise fare, Princess Air, Princess Cruise Plus pre- and post-cruise hotel packages, prepaid shore excursions and other prepaid items purchased through Princess. Guests will also receive a Future Cruise Credit equal to 100% of the cruise fare paid on this voyage.
  10. I'm on the Grand in 5 weeks and my expectations are low for this ship from reading reviews. Please oblige me feedback of your recent Grand cruise under any heading including food, service, condition of the ship, entertainment, cabins and anything else you can regurgitate. I need to be psychologically ready for whatever this old ship throws at me. Thanks, Need2Cruise
  11. Hello, It appears that Suite guests on Grand Princess do not have access to Lotus Spa Thermal Suite (per the brochure). Could someone please help me understand why that is? Also, what benefits you enjoy the most for being a suite guest? We are a family of 4 with 2 teens. We normally book 2 balcony staterooms. However, due to late planning, we have very limited options for ships, itinerary and cabins. For us staying in a nice stateroom is also part of the vacation time. So I am considering booking a suite for us instead of 2 balcony rooms. I’d like to hear from you all about your love for the owner’s suite on Grand Princess. Thank you.
  12. Just about to book a Princess cruise on the Grand Princess, any tips as to what mini suite and what deck would be appreciated.
  13. Ruth and Mark from Essex just booked this cruise, only 17 months to go! We have never booked a cruise so far in advance.
  14. I am really surprised that there have been no recent posts about his! Am thinking that Princess can decide which posts to publish? all in favor of captain's decision, BUT wondering about all the folks who changed flights twice? No princess credit? Just asking
  15. On the Grand now. Its been a wild 15-Hawaiian adventure. We had to turn around on our 1st sea day headed back to San Francisco. Medical emergency. Went all the way back to Honolulu. We were granted a reprieve from going to Ensenada for Jones act requirements, but we will still arrive approximately 5 hrs later than original ETA. Heads up for anyone on the Feb 11 10-day mexican cruise
  16. Okay, here I am once again asking for my Princess cruise buddies for help. Does anyone know what nights are formal on the 10 day Mexican Rivera on the Grand? I know in the past it has been on the 3rd night (2nd full day at sea) and the 9th day which is also at sea. Why I am asking is that we have a large group which one night we will all be eating together (yikes) and Princess is offering us the Crown Grill for Thursday February 13 which in the past this night has been a formal night. We have been told by Princess this is not a formal night and maybe Princess has changed them recently. We really don't want formal in the Crown Grill and I think Princess might be incorrect on the this and I am sure the Grand isn't changing this night for us. Sorry for rambling on and on and on.........I am overwhelmed with my crazy loved ones! The Princess Rep has left for the weekend or I might have had an answer.
  17. Can someone tell me if there is an area on the grand that you walked out a door in the front area to view the glaciers. Last year we went to the Panama Canal on the coral and they had a secret door. Thx
  18. Apologies if I put this in the wrong place. Searched for a Patter forum and couldn't find one. The disembarkation doc is actually from the Grand Princess 5 day Calif Coast cruise that immediately followed the Mexican Riviera. 202002GrandMexDay1.pdf 202002GrandMexDay2.pdf 202002GrandMexDay3.pdf 202002GrandMexDay4.pdf 202002GrandMexDay5.pdf 202002GrandMexDay6.pdf 202002GrandMexDay7.pdf 202002GrandMexDay8.pdf 202002GrandMexDay9.pdf 202002GrandMexDay10.pdf 202002GrandMexDayDisembark.pdf
  19. It is my understanding that the Grand Princess is going to have its home port changed to Singapore for about a year and then after that it will move to Southampton. Which Princess ship will be home ported in San Francisco after the Grand Princess leaves for Singapore?
  20. As far as I can tell the only sports bar in Grand is Snookers, which is also the cigar bar? Is that correct? If so, that seems less than optimal. We'll be cruising during the Olympics and some of our group is interested in catching some of the coverage. From what I understand no NBC in the cabins, so that's out. Not really a big deal to me personally, but..
  21. I may just have to place a call to Princess but thought I would ask here first. I am going into my cruise personalizer for an upcoming cruise (still 2 months away) and don't have any option to purchase unlimited internet. What is odd is that I do have that availability to purchase this for a cruise on this ship later this year. For this upcoming cruise, we are in a suite and this is the first time ever in this cabin type but don't see any documentation on the Princess website stating that unlimited internet is included. Just not sure why it is not showing up for me as a purchase option. ????
  22. Hi guys, for me the medium size ships are the best, now am wonderin if the Grand has ever been stretched? Just might be sailin on that ship in Sept to Alaska. Does anybody know if it has been stretched? Thanks. Virginia
  23. There is a little construction project going on right now on the Grand Princess on Deck 7, amidst the Photo area, at the end of the corridor, just short of the aft elevators and Vista Lounge entrance. I was wondering if they are going to change to one of those face recognition kiosks instead of the display boards. - I assume Princess has been using that type of system on their newer ships. - Could this be related to the upcoming Medallion conversion? (Is that a feature of Medallion ships?) On a side note, the door locks have already been installed. (You tap your card to open the door) One thing I noticed is that there is no longer a holder for the Princess Patters and other paper odds-and-ends. Which is less convenient and can potentially lead to mess. Do any of the medallion ships have a "mail caddy" any more?
  24. Have been checking Deck Plans on various web sites including Princess. Can not figure out how to exit to the Promodedae area in front of the ship ). Promoneade steps up from Deck 7 to Deck 8 in fromt of the ship. Our cabin is midship on the Emerald Deck. Is there a public exit on Enerald Deck? are there midship stairs (or only slow elevator) to go down one level?
  25. Has anyone stayed in this cabin? It is an obstructed view, but it looks like there isn't anything in front of the window. Thanks!
