  1. Live from The Island Princess- October 17,2019 Embarkation in FLL -was very easy and fast. We took Lyft from our hotel in Danica beach area- took about 15 min to enter port area and another 10 minutes to be dropped at the porter/ hand off large suitcases. No separate priority line to enter building. Went through security, then check in where there was priority lines, but there really was no lines anywhere .We were at the check in desk about 11:40am and onboard the ship at 11:45 am. Entered on deck 6 by the casino and EFFY. In Bordeaux dinning room at 12:15 for lunch. Announcement came on speaker at 12:25pm that The staterooms where ready. Captain is David Galloway and CD is Benny Yau and assistant Tom. 3:15pm the general emergency drill/ muster was held. No need to take your life jacket.Finished by 3:35pm. First suitcase was by door after muster and second one about 4:30pm. There is 90 Elite onboard. Sea day today and cc meet up at 10 am in Wheelhouse bar. Jamaica is first port on Saturday.
  2. With 1 week sea days the ship becomes more important to me. Which would you pick & why? Island has patisserie whereas Crown has IC but that's comparable on paper. I won't use the pool and like both selection of ports
  3. Has Island fixed it’s propulsion problems?
  4. Hello fellow cruisers. I know this is a very specific question, but I'm going to ask anyway on the off chance someone has information. Has anyone traveled in cabin PR726, a handicapped full suite, on the Island Princess? This is one of the new cabins that was added to the Island after their refurbishment. Would love to hear your opinion on this cabin as we are booked in it on the July 10th Alaska sailing. Thanks for any information!
  5. I would like to book a balcony cabin on Island with a larger balcony AND look down at the sea from the railing. Are there such cabins? While booking on the Princess website, it appears that there may be no Premium balcony cabins in the Forward section. Do I need to book a Mini Suite if I want the larger balcony AND look down at the water (not look down at other balconies)?
  6. Island Princess is making an unscheduled stop at Vancouver tomorrow due to engine problems. Has anyone heard anything about this?
  7. Does the Island Princess have a walking track or a space that can be used to walk outside?
  8. We're going on the Island Princess in October and just got our assigned boarding time of 2:30 pm. Are they strict with the arrival times? Have you ever had to wait for your exact time, or are they just suggested, so that everyone doesn't arrive at the same time? We have to check out of our hotel around 11 am and were planning on getting to the cruise port way before 2:30 pm. Thanks!
  9. Is there a rule of thumb for which cabin categories have a tub on Island? My deck plan doesn’t help with this.
  10. What are the promenade deck lounge chairs like currently, and are there usually enough to find a couple together in the afternoon? I’m hoping they’re the long wooden kind with cushions.
  11. What is it like getting from one side of the promenade to the other side, aft, if one does laps on the promenade? Has anyone walked for an hour, which could mean passing inside a dozen times? I’ve only cruises on ships that let one walk the full lap outside. I may be able to tolerate the lack thereof for a short cruise, but hearing exactly what this is like on Island would be a big help.
  12. I will be going on an Island Princess cruise on 10/07/2019 going to Panama. I would like to know what activites are available on the cruise including what menus are available. A link would be appreciated. Thanks in advance, Tino Pather
  13. see the rollcall for this sailing for meet and mingle update.
  14. Could anyone tell me if there is a dry dock scheduled for the Island Princess any time before Jan. 2021? Was curious if Princess will be updating the ship prior to the World Cruise. I'm not sure where to look to find the information. Thanks Joe
  15. We are interested in learning about cabins PR712, PR716 on Island Princess. Never sailed Island and have heard conflicting opinions about her; we will be on the ship for 28 days so my cabin (sanctuary) is important to me. Thanks
  16. Has the propulsion problem on the Island Princess been repaired?
  17. I saw this on another social media site. Sorry if this is already being discussed, but I don’t see it. I have a friend who is going on the canal cruise on 9/22/2019 and she’s wondering if there are any updates. Does anyone know if future cruises are being affected? Thanks.
  18. Wondering why the aft accessible cabins on the promenade deck of the Island Princess do not have wheelchair access to the balcony? (cabins PR701-PR710, & PR726 & PR727)
  19. Wondering why the aft accessible cabins on the promenade deck of the Island Princess do not have wheelchair access to the balcony? (cabins PR701-PR710, & PR726 & PR727)
  20. Were any employees evacuated before the hurricane? How many live there and was the island damaged?
  21. I know this boat is older and not as big as many cruise ships, but does it feel cramped and small? Does it feel like too many people in too small of space? Over crowded dining rooms, theaters, pools, etc?
  22. Does any one know if this cabin on the Island Princess Stateroom Number B227 Baja Deck Mini-Suite has a covered balcony? Thanks for the reply
  23. A quick question for everyone We sailed this year on the Island Princess and had cabin C510 and loved the large balcony. I'm looking at booking another cruise next year and was wondering if all balconies on Caribe are like that? The 510 range is booked but the ones that jut out more, such as 502, 426, 424, 422, etc are still available. Thanks in advance!
  24. I'd like to start a roll call for the Island Princess December 6th 2019 but I don't have a clue how.
