  1. Next Tuesday we will be leaving for our six-night pre-cruise trip to Sydney prior to sailing on the Majestic Princess. We booked our 15-hour non-stop Business Class flight via EZair on United Airlines. Our EZair fare was almost 50% less than any other available options. We booked our return flight, Seattle>LAX, directly via American Airlines. We will be spending three nights in Seattle before flying home. We obtained our Australian and New Zealand e-visas a few weeks ago via their respective apps. The process was fairly simple and we received the visas within 10 minutes of applying. The only hiccup we had with both apps was the uploading of our photos. I had read that this was a common issue and was patient with the process. It took about 5 to 6 attempts on both apps before I was successful with the uploads. The Australian e-visa was $13.24 per person and is valid for one year. The New Zealand e-visa was $32.12 per person and is valid for two years. Proof of the New Zealand e-visa is required at check-in to board the ship. We will have to apply for both again prior to our trip scheduled for 2026. We were last in Australia during the spring of 2019. On that trip, we spent a week in Sydney before boarding the Sea Princess for a 28-day cruise around the Australian continent. We also visited Tasmania and Papua New Guinea. After the cruise we spent an additional week in Sydney before flying to Hong Kong. We really enjoyed our time in Sydney and are very excited to return. We will be spending our six-night stay at the Four Seasons Hotel in Circular Quay. We received a fantastic deal via the Amex Fine Hotels & Resorts Program. The Four Seasons is usually not within our travel budget. As always, we have booked our transportation from the airport to the hotel via the "Blacklane.com" car service. Blacklane has a great app that makes booking the car service a breeze worldwide. They are great with emails and texts informing you of the name and phone number of your driver. Our drivers have always been waiting for us just outside immigration with our name clearly visible on a tablet. Their drivers have all been extremely friendly and on occasion have given us a short city tour on the way to our hotel. On this cruise we will be visiting New Zealand for the very first time. We have been waiting a long time to see New Zealand and are really excited to finally visit. We have been to French Polynesia at least a half-dozen times and have been visiting Hawaii for as long as I can remember. We have also visited Vancouver several times and we will be spending the day with a dear friend that lives in the city. We very rarely book excursions thru Princess as we prefer to DIY in ports. If there is a hop-on/hop-off bus available, we will jump on and see the local sites. If something attracts our attention, we'll get off and explore. If no hop-on/hop-off bus, we will usually arrange something with a local tour company or a taxi driver. We have sailed on the Majestic many times and have enjoyed her very much. The one thing we find lacking on the ship is that it's missing a Sanctuary. Hopefully, one day they will replace the Hollywood Conservatory with a Sanctuary. I know there are many that enjoy this venue, we do not. We have found the chlorine smell in the Hollywood Pool Club (indoor pool) to be overwhelming. Hopefully, this has improved since our last cruise on the Majestic. The Majestic does have one of our favorite venues, "Vines!" You can find us there almost every night before dinner (and sometimes after). The Majestic also has "The Catch" which we plan on visiting several times. We are very excited to see a number of crew that we know quite well that are currently onboard, especially the DRO (Maitre'd), Douw, who we know very well. We joke with him that we have known him since he was a young boy! Feel free to ask questions and I will try my best to provide answers. I will usually post the "Princess Event Listings" and dinner menus daily. To our fellow passengers, I encourage you to add your experiences and answer questions on this blog as we all have different perspectives and experiences. Because we no longer attend shows, games, or lectures, we will count on our fellow passengers to provide info on those events. We will report on live music, food, and the ship's wine selections! Cheers! The below map is no longer accurate. Princess has cancelled Kona and replaced it with Moorea. A switch I would make any day of the week! 2. What type of facities are on deck 9 below cabin #C412 on deck 10? The deck plans on the Majestic Princess only show as blank white spaces. Concerned about noise coming from deck 9.
  3. I'm traveling solo on my first Princess cruise in a few months. On other lines, I usually opt for anytime dining and ask to be seated at a shared table. I've found it a good way to meet different people. Also, I'm not obligated to show up every evening if I don't feel like having dinner there on certain nights. Do things work this way on Princess, too? Thanks.
  4. Are these balconies covered? How is the noise from the Vista Lounge and the engines? TIA
  5. I felt like when I was planning the trip, I did not see a lot on CruiseTours, so thought I would post my thoughts. I created YouTube videos of each day of my pictures. We have been to Alaska twice on cruises. Alaska is my husband’s favorite place, whereas mine is Europe. We did the land portion first then the cruise, I think it is much preferable. We had the premier package and an interior room on the ship. The logistics is that on the land tour you can carry a personal size item on the bus and train. You can have a carry on size bag that is transported separately and sometimes doesn’t arrive until several hours later. They also can send any other bags to meet you on the ship. We used Princess Air and had no complaints. It was a long travel day from Tampa to Anchorage. In real life I do Keto. When I go on vacation, I go completely off. Therefore lots of food and drink pictures. . Clyde looking pathetic before we leave. Pumpkin Spice Latte. Lunch during our layover in Dallas. No food on the flight from Dallas to Anchorage. Almost 8 hours. Cotton Candy Cosmopolitan. Drink on plane. After a good long while we arrive and a bus to our hotel, Captain Cook. We were missing a bag. Got everything sorted out and ate dinner around 1:30 our time.
  6. We are cruising on the Majestic in June and have a mini suite on the Emerald deck. Does anyone know if the balconies are covered at all? Thanks!
  7. Can someone please tell me if you use cash in the casino or is it charged to your room medallion?
  8. What are the sofa beds in the mini suites on the Majestic like? Are they like traditional fold-out sofa beds, or the kind where you are essentially lying the length of the sofa? More to the point, if the bed is in use, can you easily get to and from the balcony from the main part of the room?
  9. Hi all. I was hoping that someone could explain the difference between the OS and the PS on Majestic Princess. Specifically rooms D726 and E728. They look to be the same size, with the same size balcony, but D726 is about $400 cheaper. I have tried looking online but have not seen any good videos of D726. They both look to be category S3. Thank you so much!
  10. We've been on numerous Princess cruises in the past but our upcoming trip on the Majestic will be our first on a Royal Class ship. We want to start booking our dining times but I'm not sure which one to book. We prefer wherever possible to go to the same dining room with the same wait staff rather than going to the different ones. Our biggest priority (aside from the food of course) is to have friendly, accommodating wait staff. I'm just curious on people's recent experiences or recommendations. 🙏
  11. Hey everyone! Wondering if anyone has stayed in cabin D123?
  12. Hi, We are on the Majestic Princess Dec. 27, 2019. Auckland to Sydney. Has Princess relaxed on the dress code for Formal nights? I can't seem to find a definite answer. Basically want to know if my husband needs to take a sports coat or if a nice shirt, tie and slacks would be appropriate. Thanks in advance !
  13. Does anyone know why the Majestic Princess wasn't able to land at Auckland today (March 5th down there) but the Grand Princess docked there this morning? Their itinerary has them stopping there today, but the port authority site does not have them listed. They were also not able to tender at Bay of Islands yesterday. My sister is on the Majestic, and they thought it was weather (a LITTLE rough yesterday) but today is very calm.
  14. I’m planning a cruise to Alaska in September. This will be my first time sailing with Princess. I’ve done mostly Carnival cruises with a couple on Celebrity nearly 20 years ago. I’m looking at either the 9/7 sailing on Discovery Princess or the 9/8 sailing on Majestic Princess. The itineraries are pretty comparable for the most part. I’m looking to book a mini-suite for three adults (me and my two sisters). We would probably book it as Princess Premier for all three of us. Here are some of the differences I’ve noticed that I think might be significant: • Majestic has a covered pool/solarium and Discovery has the OUTDOOR Retreat pool. For Alaska, this seems like a big advantage for Majestic . • Majestic has the Hollywood Conservatory indoor observation deck concept, whereas Discovery has the outdoor, for-fee Sanctuary, instead. Again, points to Majesty. • Discovery visits Glacier Bay, whereas Majestic goes to Endicott Arm. It seems Glacier Bay is more popular, but I don’t know. Points to Discovery? • Majestic has Harmony restaurant and Discovery has Sabatini’s. I think I would prefer Sabatini’s menu. Points to Discovery. • Discovery has casual dining sushi while Majestic does not. Points to Discovery. • Discovery has Crooners piano bar and Majestic does not. Points to Discovery. • For these sailings, Majestic is considerably cheaper (like $400 pp). Points to Majestic. I have two questions: 1. Am I missing any significant differences between the ships (including less concrete ones like “better crew” or “more fun ambiance”)? 2. Based on all of this, which would you choose? Thanks!
  15. We will be boarding the Majestic Princess on March 18th. I have a few questions and I wondered if anyone can answer. Just a couple by ourselves. 1-What time were you able to board. 2-Is the gym open all hours or just certain times. 3- Is there a time limit on the gym machines. 4-Did you see Pizza in the buffet. 5-We are standard, in a suite, if you are in a suite did they have any special events in the suite lounge. 6-Can you order something special in the suite breakfast. I like pancakes, do you think they will allow that. 7-We need to get a private ride from the airport to our hotel. We are having trouble finding a good company. Any suggestions.-Sydney Hyatt Regency. I appreciate any responses. Hope this is not too much bother. Thank you.
  16. My family and I (total 6) are sailing in adjoining Reserve Collection Mini-Suites on the 10 Night voyage from Rome - Trieste on April 21, 2025. As this is a special occasion (DW 65th birthday and DGD Sweet Sixteen) I have booked the Premier Package for everyone 🙂. Given the fact that the Majestic was built for the Chinese market I know that there are some differences between the Majestic and the other Royal Class ships. Therefore, I have some questions: It appears that there is only one Casual Dining Restaurant, Alfredo's. Can you use the unlimited Casual Dining anywhere else? Since Gelato is not on this ship, can you get Specialty Desserts at the International Cafe or only at Scoops? I had heard that since there is not an Ocean Terrace Seafood Bar, Sushi is available in the afternoon at The Catch by Rudy. If so, is the cost available as part of the Unlimited Casual Dining included with Premier? Are the Lobster Rolls included w/Premier at the Burger and Lobster Grill or $15.00? Is there any truth to the possibility I have read here on CC of eliminating Harmony and adding Sabatini's, which we love, in its place? In the past on Princess, I could open the divider between balcony's. Is this still available? We were unable to do so on NCL or RCCL. What is the best bar for Champagne? Is it Vines Wine Bar or elsewhere. Which Restaurant is currently being used for Reserve Dining? Is it Concerto, as it is off the Center elevators where the Reserve Collection Mini-Suites are located? I thank everyone and look forward to their responses. Also feel free to add your comments about the ship. Have a Great Day and Smooth Sailing 🙂 Mike A
  17. We recently booked a TA July 2025 on Majestic embarking in Southampton and disembarking in Boston. Our itinerary includes Iceland and Greenland, two ports we have never been to and basically know very little about. My DH has been researching weather and such, but everything is quite different on a cruiseship and we have never had the pleasure of sailing on Majestic. I would appreciate any insight you could provide on the itinerary and on the ship itself. I know many of you have experienced both and your opinion matters to me. Thanks in advance!
  18. Hi all, Can someone please tell me whether the premium deluxe balconies on Majestic on dolphin deck are covered in any way.?We got an upgrade from deluxe to premium and just curious. Thanks
  19. Hi everyone! New to the community so figured I would give a bit of an introduction post. For starters we will be sailing on the majestic princess this June out of Seattle with me (34), my wife (34), and son (10) along with my parents and my siblings, including my brother's spouse. First family vacation where everyone will be there since my brother's wedding last year. Fun fact: We are going on a cruise because my dad got a brochure in the mail and offered to pay for rooms if we could cover the other stuff, airfare, excursions, etc. Another fun fact: the cruise was originally scheduled for summer 2025, but after realizing that this could interfere with some other things it got moved to June of this year. The original schedule and the move to 2024 happened in the course of probably 24 hours, and left basically every head spinning haha Everyone has been on a cruise at least once except my wife and son, though for most is has been 8 or 9 years since the last one, including myself. We are excited and have some excursions planned, including crossing “ride a helicopter” off my wife's bucket list with a helicopter tour of the glaciers for the three of us. 😊 Still in the “absorbing information” phase. The shear scale of a cruise ship somewhat boggles my mind, even though I have been on one. Most likely going to just get the base beverage package for mockyails and such, but might get a bottle for the room since it looks like a 375ml is $18-$25 and that is enough for me for the cruise 😊 Looking forward to reading and gaining info and meet y’all!
  20. Hi everyone! Have a family cruise on the Majestic princess coming up the end of June to Alaska and while I know that there is tons to do, tons to see, and a kids club... There will still be times when all the child (10) wants to do is chill and play Minecraft or something 🤣 my question is do the TV's have HDMI inputs that devices can be hooked up to to view on the big screen? My son has a switch he will be bringing and the big screen means he could play there more and we can join in more easily for a little family Mario kart if the mood strikes.
  21. I noticed that the Majestic will be sailing from Port Everglades late 2025 to early 2026. I am wondering if they will remove Harmony Chinese Restaurant and replace it with Sabatini’s. (I hope not). I assume the Noodle bar would be replaced with Slice Pizza and the Lobster Grill with Salty dog. I hope they keep these venues. It would be nice to change things up a little. Sailing Princess, NY and FL, since 2006 and would love to be able to try different restaurants. BTW, we ate at Rudy’s over the Christmas Sky cruise and absolutely loved it. so much so that we reserved it for 3 nights on our upcoming 7 night Enchanted cruise.
  22. Has anyone stayed in this cabin? Any comments or complaints.
  23. First timer on Majestic in a penthouse cabin on deck 14 Can cabin balconies above (deck 15) look down onto our balcony or are the balconies directly above each other? Thanks
  24. Does anyone know where the Majestic Princess docks in Skagway? I see three different port options and I know they are all close to town but I'm trying to plan for elderly parents who want to walk the town area but not add a lot of extra walking. I'm trying to decide if they need to shuttle into the main area of town from the White Pass Railroad dock or if its a shorter walk. Thank you!
  25. Are there chaise loungers at the back of the Lido deck on the Majestic or are there only regular chairs and tables? thanks bob
