  1. John just posted on his FB page. I have never seen that many people rescued. Coast Guard and others notified. On their way to Roatan.
  2. My husband and I really enjoy the steakhouse, but these 2 ships don't have one. Has anyone had the Steakhouse Selections on either of these ships, and if so, how was the quality of the steak/lamb/lobster? Just wondering if the quality is the same on ships that don’t have an actually steakhouse. Thank you!
  3. Hey guys, found me a cruise fare out of Tampa that was so good, I didn't research the ship beforehand haha! I really like the Alchemy Bar but I realized that there probably isn't one on the Paradise, unless they added one after a refurbishment. The ship was built in '98, and it's not listed on the Carnival website under 'Onboard Activities'. Then again, Carnival doesn't list every bar all of the time, it seems, so my fingers are still crossed. Side question: Does Carnival have Cointreau, and are the bartenders at Blue Iguana willing to make a proper margarita? I just got off the Valor, and whatever mix they use for the margaritas is pretty gross. I didn't really mind since I knew I would be drinking at Alchemy later that night, but now I'm re-thinking if I should even get the Cheers package. Thanks everyone!
  4. Just did a short 4 day cruise on the Paradise to Cozumel and back out of Tampa. Our cabin was perfect, our room steward was great. Food was just ok but not terrible. Cozumel is always fantastic and the drinks at Fat Tuesday were very strong. During the first 3 nights the casino was nice. Blackjack didn't take away but it didn't give much either so it was fun. My one dissatisfaction was on the last day we had cold rough weather which kept everyone indoors. On top of that it was the last day of NFL so the bars were packed. Carnival should have had contingency for this. It took forever and I mean a very long time to get a drink. I was playing Blackjack and even the pit bosses couldn't find a server to get drinks. It made for a frustrating day. If there were no outside activities due to weather management should have shifted people and jobs. I can personally attest by watching 3 gaming tables that nobody was able to get a drink in a timely manner. I guess that helped me since I stayed a bit more sober and was able to focus better on the cards and was able to pay everything from my winnings but I would have rather been able to get a few drinks. Would I do the Paradise again? Yes I would she is a classic and for 4 day weekends nothing is better.
  5. We sat through a 90 minute presentation that offered a free cruise. We just booked the Paradise for next December. It is a five day that leaves out of Tampa. We had to pay port fees and taxes plus we added gratuities and insurance. It was less than $500.
  6. Can any recent (post dry dock) give their impression of the ship. Did they notice any changes worth mentioning? Were the rooms refreshed? Any update would be appreciated. We have a cruise on the Paradise next month. Thanks.
  7. The Captain usually doesn't make announcements at 930pm. So when he does my attention perks up. He explained that we had to do a medical evacuation and he would keep us informed. This happened on Nov 27. First day of our cruise. Obviously everyone wishes the evacuated passenger all the best, but you have to be impressed with the professionalism of the crew and the micro-precision of how this is coordinated with the U.S. Coast Guard. Paradise does not have a helipad. The precision flying and hovering of the USCG crew was perfect. Kudos to all involved and, again, positive thoughts to the evacuated man. USGC Carnival Paradise.mp4
  8. Just returned from a cruise on the Paradise and I'm surprised there is no "Washi Washi" attendant as you enter the Buffett let a lone hand cleaning stations. My wife and I have cruised on Princess, Celebrity, RCCL and Holland since COVID and every one of those ships has an attendant and washing stations before entering the buffet. I would think Carnival would care more about the health of the passengers on there ships since everyone is handling the utensils to serve their own food.
  9. I just watched a YouTube video, it shows the serenity deck, there is only one hot tub now, possibly bigger than the old ones, hard to tell.
  10. Just booked a cruise for January 2024 and noticed during my search that the Paradise is going into drydock in October. Would anyone have any incite what the upgrades and/or changes might be coming? I know this is a smaller ship but it would be nice if they added the Alchemy Bar but anything new would be nice.
  11. We are going to have so much fun on our Christmas Cruise!! My name is Amber and this is my 6th cruise, but my 1st Christmas Cruise. I would love to hangout and have fun with my fellow cruisers. Post Pics!! I’ll start, 😘
  12. has anyone heard any news as to when they might dock today....How about someone who is on ship now, what are they saying?
  13. First cruise since 2019, taking my son on the Paradise for four nights. Memory is a little rusty on a few things and I know others have changed, so wanted to ask the experts here... For a four-night cruise, when do the Camp Ocean activities start? I recall in the past signing my son up for Camp Ocean on the first day, but programs not starting until the second morning. Is that the case on a four night cruise? And what were the program hours on the sea days and port days (e.g. all day port call in Cozumel)? Do any families here have recent experience with (or programs from) Camp Ocean on the Paradise or Elation? My son LOVED Camp Ocean on the Vista in 2019, but I realize we're on a smaller ship this time and I want to manage expectations accordingly. My son would be in the Stingray group. Curious how similar vs. different the activities and experience is in Camp Ocean on the smaller vs. larger Carnival ships. If one "only" has Gold VIFP and does not purchase FTTF, but selects a check in right at T-14 days when check in opens, any odds on getting an earlier (i.e. 11am or 12 noon) boarding time? Debating going to the Tampa Children's museum before boarding if we get stuck with a late embarkation time, will make a decision once we know our actual boarding appointment time. Conversely, if one is doing self-assist debarkation, what is the latest time one can get breakfast and get off the ship? Our flight home is not until 7pm so I am thinking of taking my son to the Aquarium after, but we're not going to be in any sort of rush. And my son likes to get his beauty sleep until 7 or 8am... Any info would be great, thanks in advance! Looking forward to getting back on a ship!
  14. Do the waitstaff do their performances every night, or just certain nights? Also, does anyone have recent experience with the massage place in the port on Cozumel? When I was there in 2019, you could get a massage outside by the water in the Carnival port area for significantly less than on-board. Curious if that's still the case, as I tend to like to get my back un-bricked during vacations :-).
  15. Hi everyone Sailing on the Paradise soon. I have school work that I will need to complete. I know the Paradise has an internet cafe; however, I can't find any details about computer availability. Should I bring my laptop? Also, I've already signed up for the premium internet. If I do find a computer to use, is there an additional charge or will I just sign in through my paid internet. Thanks!
  16. We were on the Magic about 2 months ago and Paradise last week. A few things I noticed about each ship. Of course we all know that Magic is much bigger and newer than Paradise, and from my recollection, Paradise got a makeover in either 2018 or 19, I can't remember exactly. Anyway, last week on the Paradise we had the coldest room we've ever been in, it was awesome, even had to turn it down a little. When we were on the Magic, we had to ask for a fan. We actually asked for one on the Paradise expecting the worst, but never even used the fan as it was too cold, we loved it cold. Next, on the Magic, I think our TV was a 19", possibly 20" TV. I know everyone says you shouldn't be in your rm watching TV, well, I like watching it before I go to sleep, or while I'm waiting on my wife to get ready. On the Paradise, our TV must have been a 55" or no smaller than a 50" tv, it was really huge. Also, the Paradise has USB ports on both sides of the bed, and at the sitting desk, the Magic doesn't have any ports at all. I guess the upgrade Paradise went through must have added these smaller items, I'm sure the Pride will probably get these upgrades also. We had a great time on both ships. Just a few comparisons from an older ship to a newer ship that I wasn't expecting or may not have noticed unless I had recently been on both of them.
  17. I came home intending to do a quick report but then I caught Covid from my son who came down with it on the cruise and writing this up slipped my mind. I took my son on a 5 day cruise on Paradise that sailed Feb 5th (6th?). Anyway, sailing to Grand Cayman and Cozumel. We had an ocean view on deck two. The occasion was for his 21st birthday. On the cruise he had, I believe his third drink with alcohol. Lol. It was a Funship and he did like it. We didn’t get Cheers because he’s just not interested in drinking but he did have the Bubbles pkg and got good use out of that. A caveat that I went into this cruise with—my husband and I spent 14 days on Spirit in October and it honestly sucked. The service was terrible. Other than our room steward on the first leg who was fantastic, and the lobby bar staff, we ran into so many rude, slow uncaring crew that I was shocked. I had been on three cruises prior to this since the restart but things were so lousy on Spirit that I was seriously ready to write off Carnival. But this one was already booked. So, I went in a bit worried. This was my first cruise as Platinum and we got our early boarding time arranged. I was staying in Orlando this winter so we drove over that morning and parked in the port parking. Tampa sure has a weird set up for that! It’s a long walk from parking to the entrance! There was construction at the time so that made it longer. I checked my Fitbit when we got to the building and it was a three quarters of a mile! So don’t do that f you have limited mobility! The Port of Tampa staff really seem to love their jobs and make the wait fun. Very soon we were able to board and headed straight to our cabin to drop off backpacks etc. That is a nice perk. We then wandered around the ship seeing stuff and sat outside for awhile before going to grab some lunch. We then sat outside again close to the aft bar in the buffet so the kid could take advantage of the package and drink Pepsi to his hearts content. This was a very chill trip. He did karaoke a few times. He loves Frank Sinatra and has a great voice. I played trivia a few times, and went to comedy. We spent our sea day listening to our books and enjoying the sunshine. I did find that the schedule was really lacking in activities. At least two nights there was no comedy scheduled, one night there was only one show, the club didn’t open until like 11, and even trivia was very limited. They had sports trivia everyday. 🤷‍♀️ The big thing though was that service was STELLAR! Back to what I have always seen from Carnival. Fast bar service, everywhere was clean, our room steward was fun and thorough. It restored my faith in the line. Food was hot, things were open when they were supposed to be and the crew seemed happy to be there. Our first port was Grand Cayman. We were going to use the priority shuttle and go to the Turtle Center on our own with a quick stop to see Hell. But our time in port was short. Only until 2:00 and I was getting worried about the schedule. We ended up skipping Hell and booking a ship excursion to the turtle center that included snorkeling in their lagoon. We had a fantastic time! I honestly expected the lagoon to be a little lame but it was incredibly cool! Not only are you swimming with the green sea turtles but there are a ton of other fish n there as well. My only regret was that I forgot to bring my camera in with me. I was really glad that I had decided to stick with a ship excursion because there was quite a bit of traffic on the way back but I knew we didn’t have to worry about being late.
  18. Hi. My husband and I are thinking of cruising on Paradise with my 5 & 7 year olds during their spring break. They went on their first cruise last fall (not Carnival) and had a blast considering that ship has a big kids pool/splashpad, skating rink, etc. I know that Paradise is a much smaller and older ship (although nicely updated), so I'm wondering how much there is for 2 kids to do over 4 days. The Waterworks area seems pretty nice, along with the kids club. Just want to make sure they stay busy so that the grown-ups can relax 🙂 Any other comments/suggestions? Thanks in advance!
  19. The Paradise does not have many specialty restaurants on board so I was wondering if Asian/sushi was offered on the Lido Buffet on this particular ship? I've read about 'The Wok' as being a part of the buffet on some ships. How about the Paradise? I see by way of the menu offerings that 'Sushi for 2' is offered in the MDR for an up-charge. 🍣 🍜
  20. If anyone is sailing on the Paradise this month, I'd love to see a review of the ship. Food quality. Service quality. Cabin quality, etc. We will be sailing out on Feb 6th and I am hoping food and service are up to top quality. So much has been said these past months that food portions, menu degrading, wait times for service in the MDR has been below standards. I was hoping these issues would be resolved in the new year. I am looking forward to sailing this lovely older elegant lady for the first time. 🥰
  21. Hello Has anyone stayed in an aft balcony cabin on the Paradise? I"m wondering about noise/vibration from the engines. Thanks!
  22. Greetings! Currently onboard Carnival Paradise for the second leg of a B2B. I can't find the recent posts where people had questions, so here we go. Port of Tampa has been easy to navigate. I parked in the Channelside Garage right across the street, which is $15/day. You can prepay online, print out the pass, and show it to the attendant as you come in. They exchange it for a different ticket, which you need to keep to get out of the garage. They had no problems linking both my parking passes into one ticket. It's a short walk across the street to terminal 2 and 3, so we just rolled our luggage with us instead of doing a drop off first. Porters met us outside the building and took our luggage with no issues. Longest wait to board was getting through the security scanners. We arrived right at our arrival appointment time of 11:30, and it took about 30 minutes to get through. VIP/priority boarding appeared to be a little faster, but not by much. Once through Security, there was nobody in line at the check-in desks, so we showed our passports, breezed through this process and walked right on the ship a little after noon. Yay!
  23. My Wife her Aunt and Uncle and myself just got off the Paradise, and I have a few thoughts and a few ship happens, and two Oh Ships The good: MDR food was exelent, was brought hot well prepared food(except melting cake) Aunt was Glutian intolerant and head waiter took order for next day, and she said her food was good. Mr Sancho's was fun. Stateroom stewerd was excellent. 80's pop to the max was a good show 80's rock and glow was a lot of fun Ship Happens Waintress forgot multi apps, sides and such, no big deal, but still annoying Annoying loud drunk trying to be a fun squad member seeking attention every day. Member of playlist goes down with voice problem, show canceled and replaced with 2nd Deal or No Deal(will get back to THAT!) Excursion cancelled becuse sandbar for stingrays unsafe(not carnivals fault) Comedian told a guest that there voice sounded racest(I know comedy is subjective that is why I didn't go back to see him) Oh Ship Aunt and Uncle's room on M130 got flooded and had to move rooms to R69 only offered $50 for inconvenance, and had to move luggage themselfs Now I understand that they had to go to the room advaliable, and I understand that sometimes something braks and needs repaired, but IMHO this is a downgrade. They had a mid ship ocean view on deck 5 and got moved to a forward deck 4 OV. now that we are off the ship nothing they do will matter, but still. Played Deal Or No Deal both nights, and won bingo package both nights, went to get bingo pacage and they said for night one they couldn't find my name, and second night we only had one match on each card. I'll let the second night go, but went to guest services and they said we had won the pingo pacage, but could do nothing about it becuse it was the last night and the prise was unclamed. the bingo host came down to talk to us, and said there wasn't much she could do either, but she gave us a couple of SOAS for not being jerks, and in her defence she tried to make things right but couldn't do much becuse it was last sea day. I'm not going to complain about the ship, becuse I like the small ships, and honestly the paradise moved smothly, and I didn't even feel when the captian did a 180 to back into Tampa Port Thank you for reading
  24. It's been a couple years since I've been on either but I have each coming up. Top Dollar is my favorite slot and am wondering if anyone has seen it on either the Pride or Paradise? Thanks
