  1. Another social media site had some comments regarding propulsion problems on the Grandeur. Has anyone heard anything or know anything about that? Thanks m
  2. Can anyone tell me how many formal nights are on an 8 night cruise to the Bahamas and what nights are they
  3. I'm trying to understand why the ship is still at the pier and has not departed. Passengers embarked yesterday. By delaying departure the hurricane situation doesn't get any better . The transit out of Chesapeake to open ocean will not improve today or tomorrow. Look at the map of Dorian. Maybe someone can explain it
  4. For the Grandeur departure from Baltimore on 3/27/20, pricing for the various cabanas on Coco Cay on 3/31/20 has dropped from $799 to $599 to $489.99 over the past 3 weeks. Still quite pricey, but much better compared to a few weeks ago. Oasis Lagoon Cabanas Relax in a private cabana at the largest freshwater pool in the Caribbean. $498.99USD Per Cabana
  5. First cruise with RCI. We’re doing the 8 day cruise on the Grandeur leaving Baltimore on March 27, 2020. We’re thinking of reserving lunch at Chops on day one to kick off this special cruise with my spouse and two sisters. Does anyone know if the muster drill is generally held at a particular time? I don’t want our lunch to be rushed to attend the drill. Thanks in advance.
  6. We have booked 7655 Category K and noticed that 7655 and 7155 appear to be shorter and wider than other interiors. Would appreciate comments/photos regarding these cabins. Thanks. Harry
  7. Last time on Grandeur the specialty coffees in the coffee shop were included in the drink package. Is this still the case? How dressed do people get on formal nights? Is there still a deck party? How much is the parking in Baltimore? Is there any "do not miss" entertainment? Any suggestions for Charleston? We have never been there. Thinking about dragging pool noodles for Blue Lagoon and possibly Coco Cay. Good idea or bad? We are driving so room in suitcase isn't an issue. Are eggs Benedict available every day? Last but not least does anyone have the Daily Compass?
  8. Hello everyone. Following is a list of Junior Suite perks from the RCI stateroom online reservation page. This is specifically from the Junior Suite category, not just the general suite category. Priority check-in and departure lounge Concierge Services Priority tender tickets Complimentary luggage valet service Luxury spa bathrobes to use onboard The first item clearly shows Priority check-in and departure lounge, but during a tel/con with a RCI rep, I was told these perks are not included with the Junior Suites on the Grandeur out of Baltimore. Has anyone had any first hand experience with the Junior Suite perks on the Grandeur, specifically the check-in and boarding perks? Thanks in advance!
  9. Did a cruise in May and in June on large ships with all the bells and whistles. Returning to Grandeur in November for a more "restful" lol cruise. Is the dining room or Park Place open for lunch on embarkation day? Has anyone taken the transport to Disney World? Where is the best snorkeling on Coco Cay? Its been ages since we've been there. Is the beverage package recognized on the island?
  10. I finally finished and uploaded my journal of our 5-day cruise on Grandeur of the Seas. It is in two parts and here are the links. Part 1 - http://susancrow.blogspot.com/2019/06/cruising-to-bermuda-part-1.html Part 2 - http://susancrow.blogspot.com/2019/06/cruising-to-bermuda-part-2.html For some background, I traveled with my husband, my mom and my older sister. This was the first cruise my mom has taken since my dad died almost two years ago. She said she wasn't going to cruise again without my dad, but we invited her anyway because I knew she wanted to see Bermuda. I was very happy she decided to go! I think she had a good time, even though she wasn't feeling well part of the time. I'll write up some general comments in a bit and post more pictures. If anyone has questions about the ship or what we did in Bermuda, I'll be glad to answer if I can.
  11. We are looking into a cruise leaving from Baltimore on the Grandeur of the Seas. Has anyone sailed on this ship recently? What was it like? I tried looking for some reviews, but was mostly finding things from a few years ago. What was your favorite parts? Anything go wrong? So far I've been on the Celebrity Solstice to Alaska and Regal Princess to New England & Canada, Looking forward to seeing what RCL will be like 🙂
  12. I thought about doing a live from the Grandeur, because I had not seen one from one of the small, older ships for quite a while. Then, @DragonOfTheSeasdid a “Live” for the 21 day B2B just before this one. So, just consider this as a continuation, of sorts, but this time the ship is headed to Bermuda. It has been 9 years since we sailed Grandeur, so we will see what shape she is in. So sit back, and follow along for the next 7 days, as we are Bermuda bound. A photo from our last sailing on Grandeur. Any guesses where she was?
  13. Does Izumi do Hibachi (cook in front of you).
  14. Does anyone have photos of the Grandeur of the Seas Cruise Compasses for their 9 day Bahamas run? We are going on October 17 out of Baltimore!!!!
  15. First time on RCI. We’ll be on the Grandeur O. S. out of Baltimore on March 3, 2020. I know the buffet will be open for lunch on embarkation day. Does anyone know if the main dining room will also be open? Thanks in advance.
  16. Hi. We are in a JS aboard the Grandeur in April. My son lives getting room service late at night. Does it end at a certain time or a charge at a certain time. If there is room service, does anyone have a picture of it Thank you!
  17. We will be sailing on Grandeur of the Seas in October. We would like to make our My Time Dining dinner reservations. It would help us to know the timing of Traditional Dining and Show Times. Can anyone help us with those questions? Thanks, Sandie
  18. Have 3 (hopefully quick) questions about Grandeur. 1. I know that the standards of dress in the MDR is a constant source of frustration for some, but I just called RC and they said that ALL HATS, even women's hats which might go with their evening outfits, are not allowed in the MDR. I know that I've seen both men and women wear hats or headwear on formal nights, but has anyone seen women wearing hats on other nights and getting into trouble for it? Just need to know how much of a risk I might run if we try to do something with hats. 2. Has anyone done the Bottomless Galley Tour? One of our group is interested, but she is also the one that is in a motorized scooter. (Between you and me, I think she's most interested in the bottomless drinks part, not so much the Galley tour but what can you do? 🙂 ) Again, called RC and they said that the tour is accessible, but wondering if anyone who has actually gone on it has more info or insight; didn't feel confident with RC's answer. 3. Does anyone know/have an idea on how many tables are in the Specialty restaurants? We have the 3 night package, but we're trying to figure out how much of a hassle it might be to book them, especially if they only seat like 30 tables or something. Thanks in advance!
  19. Anyone who has been on Grandeur lately, does it have the coke freestyle machines? If so, do you remember where they were located? Second, does Park Cafe still close at 1am and does it have some type of pizza late night? Thanks in advance!
  20. Hi everyone! My name is Missy and this will be my first cruise. I want everyone to weigh in on the best things to do! There are so many choices so I want to know the good and the bad!!!
  21. Grandeur of the Seas - Are the suites ready for occupancy at the same time as other staterooms? Should I plan on 1:00? Trying to plan for carry-on. Thank you!!
  22. Have this ship booked for Bermuda next April, mainly for the itenerary but will be first time on this small of ship in the Royal line of ships, we always make the most of our cruises and don't worry about all the bells and whistles of the newer ships not being on the Grandeur!.....thanks!
  23. Good morning from the fabulous Best Western Airport Hotel in Baltimore Maryland!!! My live-in lover John and I have road tripped from Cleveland, eaten our crab cakes, relaxed in this lovely hotel and now it's almost time to hop on that shuttle and board the GotS!!!! Five long months I have been waiting for and imagining this day - while enjoying so many tips, photos and live reviews from you all here on Cruise Critic. I hope to add to that with my gauche and foolish posts over the next week or so. That's right.....this will, in fact, be my First Cruise EVER!!! First for either of us. Sure I live on Lake Erie and have been on small tour boats and river boats and there was that three hour tour on the SS Minnow that seems to drag on and on but nothing before so grand as a Grandeur is the Seas!! [emoji924] So please, follow along and be amused by my inexperience. I have a pretty good sense of humor so feel free to make fun of me and add any advice you see fit. As I understand it I should get up early place my belongs on a pool chair and never return. Then head to guest services and complain about at least five things a day that don't really matter and finally make sure I adjust all my gratuities to 0% before I leave the ship, all correct right?? I need your help here, friends! I have a wifi package and a drink package. I gather the former will be spotty and the latter spot on so that may affect my posts. You've been warned. [emoji483] Oh! And J'adore food porn so we'll begin with this lovely photo of the appetizer platter John and I shared at Timbuktu last night. Please follow with many comments about how I should have eaten somewhere else. I look forward to amusing you all for the next 10 days! Thanks! [emoji8] Lisa N Sent from my iPhone using Forums
