  1. After 14 months of planning Marie and I are about to embark on our longest cruise yet. 15 days on Legend of the Seas transiting the Panama Canal as we travel from Ft. Lauderdale, Florida to San Diego, California. Other than the Mexico ports this will all be new territory for us. It will also be a bit of a shock as we go from the largest in the fleet Allure to the second smallest (Legend is 3 feet longer than Splendour :p). Not just the difference in size, the focus of this cruise swings from the ship back to the ports which is what we like anyway.
  2. Leaving on a 3 nighter out of Brisbane. Just wondering if Legend of Seas has theme nights for these, or any of their cruises. TIA.
  3. I assume because cabins 7000 and 7500 are forward facing balcony cabin, the window itself is sloped? Does this affect the view at all? Does anyone have pics or feedback on the forward facing cabins, preferably on Legend of the Seas? These cabins are only an extra $35pp, and something we are considering... but want to do some research first! :) Any help would be greatly appreciated! :D
  4. Hi, are we able to get a table of two at Chop Grille or do we need to put in a request when making reservations? Is a discount offered for Chop Grille on the night of embarkation when booking onboard, or is that for Crown and Anchor members only? I have read that DreamWorks characters are on certain ships - is there any mention of it coming to Legend of the Seas in the near future? Does anyone have a Vitality Spa menu or can share current prices? Looking at spa access or a facial. Last question - are reservations for rock climbing essential or can you just turn up? Thank you! :D
  5. The April 29 2015 roll call is reporting delayed boarding tomorrow in Fort Lauderdale until 2 PM for sanitizing. Sounds like yet another outbreak for RCCL. Anyone hear any different?
  6. Firstly, I want to apologise if this question has been asked before but it is 1.30 am where I am and I have spent the last hour trying to search for an answer. To avoid the buffet on embarkation day, what other food places would be open for lunch on Legend? Thank you, Jennie
  7. Hi everyone, We're booked in Cabin 6610 of Legend's February 2016 cruise - first time on Legend and with RCCL. I have a mobility problem in that I can't walk too far (I have a cane) and I chose this particular cabin (don't remember where I originally saw the Deck Plan) because it looked to be close to an aft lift, thus getting hubby Roy and I to all the restaurants, etc. I have just today been looking at the official Deck Plan for RCCL and the area doesn't say specifically "lifts" like the forward and central lifts do, it just shows what looks like a boxed in area...... Have I made a blue? Would very much appreciate your HELP PLEASE if you've been on the Legend. Many thanks ratacake
  8. Hi could anyone tell me what the dress code for men is in the MDR on non formal evenings? On previous cruises the men in our party have been "suited and booted" but have sometimes felt overdressed- I have heard that RCI are more relaxed than other lines. Thank you
  9. Hi Can anyone who has recently been on LOTS answer some or all of my questions? 1. What type of plugs are in stateroom, AU or USA? 2. Are visas required for any of the ports on the South Pacific (10 night) cruise? 3. Where are the smoking areas? 4. What is 'pets at sea'? 5. What tips are not included in pre-paid gratuities? 6 Should tips on LOTS be in AU dollars or US? 7. Can you buy the drinks package one or two days into the cruise? 8. Are most of the cocktails included in the premium drinks package or are a lot a higher price than allowed in the package? 9. Are there drinks waiters in the shows or do you not get drinks at the shows in the evening? 10. Which restaurants/eateries are complimentary on LOTS? 11. If you have MTD and book dinner for 6pm does that apply only to the main dining room? Do you need to book if you eat somewhere else like with Windjammer café or a specialty restaurant? Do you just specify where you are planning to eat when you make the booking? Thank you in advance :)
  10. Hey. So i am still a newbie to cruising and as yet have not formed an alliance/love with any one cruise company :). I have been looking at a few cruses out of Australia and stumbled across one by royal Caribbean. I had heard some good things about the company so i checked it out and it looks good. then i went on the review section on here and well.... Not so good. Ship wise that is. In the past i have read a few bad reviews about the other ships i ended up cruising on but had read some good responses about those ships on the forum itself rather than the specific review section. In the end some, (not all) of the things people didnt like were things that effected me and i had a good time on the ships. S i was wondering any recent Legend of the seas travellers on here. Your thought's? It was pretty cheap and no i am kind of wondering if it was so cheap for a reason. help!!!!
  11. The last time we were on the Legend (1999), we had a shower curtain. Did that change with the refit? We're not on her until next year but the planning has begun..........
  12. Can you tell me what time the movies are and if there is a conflict if you are at late dining? This is for Legend of the Seas, Caribbean sailing. Do they show first run movies? Do they have the lounge chairs out for the movies? How is this done? I have loved MUTS on Princess and wondering how this works on Legend of the Seas.
  13. Does anybody happen to know who will be entertaining the Schooner Bar on the Legend in late August (Norwegian fjords) or on the Splendour at the beginning of October (East Med)? We always enjoyed Anselmo Boles and closed out the Schooner Bar with him several nights last year in the Med. He was awesome. Does a current list of piano entertainers exist? Maybe we can start one from here...
  14. Just wondering. At the time of booking this cruise, we were still able to use a standard cabin/suite. It has become necessary for our need for an accessible but there is nothing available. Once final payment is upon us, do we have a chance that one might become available? OR is there a specific phone number I could call to be put on a "waitlist" for one? Sailing November 30th of this year so final isn't all that far away. Has anyone had the luck to book a cabin once final payment was due (wondering if perhaps some people cancel last minute!? ) Our other thought is, if an owners suite becomes available, would we be able to utilize that because of the extra room? I don't want to cancel yet because there is absolutely nothing showing online available...
  15. Does anyone know if they have Pilates classes on the Legend? If so how much do they charge and do you have to sign up to a course of lessons?
  16. Does Legend have an Internet Cafe, WiFi, or both?
  17. Deck 6 aft balcony are available on the legend but not deck 7 aft..are they the same size cabin and balcony?i know the website says it is but that's not always right lol and can't find any pictures..help
  18. Hi all, just wondering if anyone has travelled on either Independence, Splendour or Legend recently. If so, can you please tell me if they had the ship models onboard? If you bought one, can you please post a pic? Basically, I'm trying to ascertain whether these models exist or not. I have an Indy model which I believe to be an older one. It is somewhat smaller than the Freedom and Liberty models that I own. Also, Splendour and Legend look quite different to the other Vision class ships. I'm just wondering if the models are specific to each ship or whether they've overlooked the differences and essentially just put the name of each ship on the exact same model... If anyone can help shed some light on this, I'd greatly appreciate it. :)
  19. Hi, this is my first post having just found the forum. I am cruising on LOS on 17th March for 15 days via the Panama Cannal, and I confess I enjoy a cigar of an evening with a glass or two! When I cruised on the Oasis, we were allowed to use the (I think it was the C&A gold bar) which was accessed from deck 16 of an evening to smoke a cigar. With the new RCI smoking policy I see that there are designated locations in outdoors areas on the starboard side. My question is, is there an area near a bar, and also as cigar smokers tend to enjoy chewing the fat with other connoisseur while we partake of our vile habit, does anyone know if there is a preferred meeting place for us outcasts :) Steve Sent from my iPad using Forums
  20. Can any one who has been in the 11 nights SC with the Legend tell me when is the second formal night? We are trying to book a specialty restaurant and don't want to have it same day of formal night. Also is that second formal night is lobster night in the menu?
  21. We are booked on the Legend of the Seas for a 10-day New England cruise in September. But the numerous BAD reviews specific to the ship itself really have me doubting our plans. My BF can get seasick, ans sounds like its bobbing all over the place. We are considering moving to a 14-day Celebrity cruise on the Summit instead. It's $2800 more and I have to give up my coveted aft cabin on LOS. Thoughts?
  22. I have received and seen several requests for more information about the Legend, and specifically for the Daily Cruise Compasses. I sailed on the Legend last month to the ABC islands (Aruba, Bonaire & Curacao) and Ocho Rios, Jamaica. Here are the Compasses. I hope that you appreciate them. It's tedious sitting here, scanning all of these pages! :D Day 1:
  23. Okay folks time for a positive post here : Just wanted to say a Massive thanks to all the Senior Management team on board The Legend of the Seas. We have just returned from a 12 night Christmas and New Year cruise and they really made us feel that our loyalty was appreciated. We enjoyed dinner with Captain Hansen on New Years Eve, and the entire Guest Services and F&B team really made our cruise special. There is still something special about these smaller ships, they are able to create a great family feel, and should not be overlooked when considering future cruises. thanks to all, we will be back :D .
  24. Exactly on which deck will I find the hidden teak sun Deck? It appears from looking at the deck plans that there is nothing aft on Deck 11, the rockwall is on Deck 10, And the Sports Deck is aft on 9. Is it hidden because it is between decks somehow? How Mysterious!! Directions say "You can get there either going THROUGH the gym (starboard side single door entrance between Park Cafe and Drink Station, kind of a hidden door, or on port side through the spa. There is also a staircase from Deck 10 near the rock wall." Not sure if these doorways take us up a flight, down a flight or you stay on the same deck. We are always looking for quiet areas and this sounds like a great place! Thank you everyone! We will be boarding 7 weeks from today! Docs are ready as of this morning! Our first cruise longer than 7 days! Lauri
  25. Real important stuff here! We are sailing on Legend of the Seas in 3 short weeks. I see there is a Park Cafe in the solarium with a delightful menu! Most the other RCI ships we have sailed had a Promenade cafe. Any chance of getting my favorite sunflower seed granola bar, normally found in the Promenade Cafe, somewhere on the Legend? Funny the little things we look forward to when cruising! My other favorite is the oatmeal/yogurt/fresh fruit Mueslii in the Windjammer! Thanks everyone! Lauri
