  1. Hello, everyone! You are cordially invited to join me on my quest to bring the Oasis of the Seas across the Atlantic for her season in Europe followed by a short dry dock. Yes, that is indeed the Allure of the Seas. Glad you asked. Since I haven’t been on the Oasis yet and haven’t shared a dock with her in the past, I don’t have any pictures of her except this one in which she’s hiding behind her younger sister Allure. As someone who has used her younger sibling as a social shield in the past, I get it. For those who have not followed my adventure before, hi. I’m Laurie. I’m from beautiful Quebec City in Canada and I used to say I was flirting with 40 but at this point it’s just harassment. Despite getting dangerously close to being middled aged, I still consider myself a kid with an adult bank account. A dangerous combo and one of the reasons I keep ending up on cruise ships. Shh, it’s fine. It’s working. As you will soon find out if you keep on reading this thread, I am fully paralyzed from the waist down and I use a wheelchair full-time to get around. I like to address the wheelchair accessibility aspect of my travels, because maybe one day it will be useful to someone with mobility issues who doesn’t mind run-on sentences too much. I’m sure those people exist. If that’s not you, fear not! I will address everything else the Oasis has to offer, too. I am also an annoyingly glass-half-full kind of person and I like to think I don’t take myself or life too seriously, but really I just use humour as a coping mechanism (shhh, it’s fine, it’s working). Some of my interests are snacks, raspberries, cheese, doughnuts… (why are all of those about food? Some of those definitely shouldn’t be about food) …coffee, wine, colourful cocktails… (now how about some interests you don’t put in your mouth) …reading, video games, travelling, my cat, and my robot vacuum. (nailed it) That’s me! If you see me on the ship, come say hello and hang out. We can awkwardly stare at each other in complete silence. It will be great!
  2. Hey all! We are just back from our Spring Break Oasis of the Seas sailing, which sailed away on Easter Sunday. Below are my key takeaways from the cruise, and I'm open to any questions you may have. Notes: This was an Easter sailing, which sailed away on Easter Sunday. There were over 2,000 kids on this particular cruise. Our original itinerary included Labadee, but it got switched out with CocoCay, giving us back-to-back days at Perfect Day. We were in an Oceanview stateroom on the 3rd deck. Highlights Aqua80 is just the best show at sea. I would sail Oasis just to watch this show. One of our Perfect Day stops was shared with Symphony of the Seas. I was worried about crowds, but the island handled it so well! This may have been one of the best bar staffs I've ever encountered. All of them were friendly, and the service was fast! There were several surprise and delights on this trip, including balloon animals every morning in the Windjammer. Low-lights The Supercell Waterslide was broken the entire week. There were some unexpected signs of wear and tear across the ship. Hot tubs were in dire need of resurfacing, there was more rust than I'm used to seeing on Royal, and we noticed several dining chairs with rips and tears. Our stateroom attendant was unusually rude. On debarkation day at 7:45 am, he knocked on our door and told us to hurry up and check out because he was coming in at 8 am to start cleaning whether we left or not. Yikes. I'm still concerned about the quality of the free food around the ships. Since COVID, I've noticed a pattern of decreased food quality.
  3. What is the lowest price recently you all have seen for the All Access tour? Right now it is down to $148.99 on Symphony in December. Yesterday it was $178.99. Curious if I should expect it to go much lower on Symphony in the next few months. Don’t really want to pay this much for it but would like to do it.
  4. We’ll be on OOTS this summer from Barcelona and I’m reading about how the ship only boards half the pax in Barcelona and the other half in Rome, creating effectively overlapping itineraries. So what’s it like on the ship those embarkation days? We’ll probably get off in Rome because, well, Rome, but if we didn’t would it be a like a typical port day on the ship or would it be more hectic like an embarkation day? Does Barcelona or Rome get the Welcome Aboard menu in the MDR? Both? Are there midnight sail away parties leaving both ports? Any other unusualness caused by the overlap? I wonder if anyone’s tried to stow away after their week since they don’t empty the ship and live in the solarium for an extra few days. 😂
  5. Hi all, We are trying to figure out what ship to recommend for first time cruisers. We think they would love an oasis class ship. From an entertainment perspective, does one ship stand out show wise? I feel like allure and momma Mia would be great but the ship is due for a refurbished? Would Harmony with hairspray be the next best? How are the ice and diving shows? What about symphony? Thanks so much.
  6. Years ago while on the Allure, I was able to see which days and times for all the shows well in advance of when booking opened up. So when it was booking day, I just filled in the slots. I assumed I would do that again for our August cruise on the Oasis but cannot seem to find any listings of the shows or their schedules. Any help is appreciated. Please and thank you
  7. We just got assigned our last cabin for the June 23 sailing, and it looks like a pretty "meh" location. 3848. Looks like it's close to elevators, bathrooms, and main dining room traffic. Only upside I can see is that it looks like a cabin that won't get a ton of traffic after hours as there is nothing else there. Has anyone ever stayed here or near here who can out my mind at ease? It's for my sons, who are both 17-20 and can sleep through a train but still would rather it not be very very loud for them.
  8. We’re looking at booking Utopia of the Seas next January. I’m only being offered limit balcony cabins for 3 so considering one next to the aft lifts on deck 6. I like the idea of being close to the boardwalk and promenade especially as we’ll have a stroller with us but wondered if anyone has stayed in similar cabins and if there was much noise (either from the boardwalk or Schooners bar)?
  9. Wrong on Royals site and Skymiles cruises site. It isn't possible for there to be 8 different 7 night cruises in one month on the same ship. Do they have one of the ships wrong possibly. Looking to book asap but don't know what is wrong. https://www.royalcaribbean.com/cruises?search=ship:OA|startDate:2024-07-01~2024-07-31
  10. Do the two-story Crown Loft Suites on Oasis of the Seas have an entrance to the corridor on the upper level or is there only suite entry on the lower level? How does the Suite lounge on Royal (Sky class) compare to the Retreat lounge on Celebrity in terms of food and beverage offerings? Is Coastal Kitchen as "good" as Luminae?
  11. Just got back from Icon of the Seas. Here is my opinion on what really got improved upon vs Oasis class. 1. Royal Promenade: So much wider and spacious. True full 2 levels. Ocean views FINALLY in the promenade. 2. Drink Stations: Remember the Lemonade, Fruit Punch, Kiwi Strawberry, etc. juices in Windjammer? Now they are at multiple venues through out the ship. Pearl Cafe, Aquadome Marketplace, Park Cafe, etc.... The Lookout in AquaDome: 2 in 1. Better spot for aqua shows to now utilize all of the surfside area and 2 much better use of the old solarium venue. I just can't get enough of this place. The views from Dawn til Dusk are amazing and then the transformation at night is just beautiful. I just don't have the words to describe how special this spot is. Thrill Waterpark: Its open from 9am till 9pm. 6 slides, Flow Rider & Crowns Edge. Every single waterslide is LEGIT. Wwent multiple times through out the cruise. Best of all was going to Thrill Waterpark at night in the middle of the ocean without any lines. Me and my son spent 2 straight hours from 7 till 9pm on the last night. Amazing and really cool at night. This blows away the 3 slides on Oasis Class. The 2 level Pool Deck: I didn't swim much but what I can attest to is there more than enough loungers in the sun and in the shade, Never ever had an issue finding a spot close to a pool. Also, never felt crowded, not in the least. In August of 22 the pool decks on oasis felt PACKED. Oceanviews: Biggest complaint about Oasis class is I dont really feel like I'm on a cruise, Im having a blast but I rarely see the ocean unless on the Jogging track or at the edge of the pool decks, Almost every restaurant and bar has windows to the seas on Icon. The most amazing Oceanview aspect to me? YOU CAN GET OCEANVIEWS FROM CENTRAL PARK!!!! Somehow someway they figured it out. I find that amazing. Aquadome and Absolute Zero: You will just have to experience it yourself to understand... Any questions feel free to ask.
  12. For the first time in a long time an actual deal. Oasis of the Seas GTY Oceanview Balcony 1470 for 2 people with Pinnacle Discount. April 7th. 1402 on April14th.
  13. Sailing on the Oasis in three weeks, but don’t see the ability to make advanced reservations for the Comedy Club. Does it still exist? Can you book in advance?
  14. We are sailing on the Utopia in September, our muster station is E3... I want to make sure we know where to go when we board so we don't hold up the embarkation 🤪 I think the Utopia is going to be enough like the Wonder and Oasis that the muster locations should be similar? Does anyone have any pictures of the map?
  15. Hello everyone! I'm getting ready to sail out for another adventure on Sunday and I plan to do a live review of my time on board. This time I will be sailing on the Oasis Of The Seas for seven days. The itinerary is quite possibly the least exciting I have ever done, but then again, you don't sail Oasis for the itinerary. Stops are Nassau, Coco Cay, Labadee, and Falmouth. I was going to book the 25th with this same route but the timing did not quite work out so I booked the 18th and assumed it would be Eastern and a slightly better run, but nope same thing. I don't sail for the itinerary anyway so it will be ok. I'm 36 and live less than two hours away from the big three ports in Florida. Miami is my least favorite because of the traffic and difficulty getting in and out of the port. The sail away view is spectacular though and is something I always looks forward to! Doesn't like the ports, doesn't like the drive to Miami why did he book this cruise? Good question. I'm prime with Club Royale which means I have gambled away enough money in Royal's casinos that I earn a free cruise up to seven nights each casino year. Used to be eight but now only seven, so unless I want to do a six day trip, we need to eliminate all the ships doing 8/6 day runs. I also want Voyager class or newer. I would sail smaller ships, but for the same price my money is on something with more bells and whistles. Obviously it needs to be a port out of Florida. That leaves me two choices, Wonder and Oasis. Except wait, Wonder is not eligible even though the exclusion has traditonally been no ships in the first twelve months of service, which has passed for Wonder. So Oasis and out of Miami it is. I did come close to choosing Symphony for six days since I have not been on that ship yet and it is Ft. Lauderdale, but in the end that extra day on Oasis swayed me. Even with the extra restrictions, still the best casino program out there when it comes to bang for your gambling buck! I will be sailing solo, have found a great deal (well the best I am going to find in these inflated times) for the Unlimited* Dining Plan so will have an unreasonable amount of food p0rn to share and beverages as well. I did not purchase a drink package, but have my five free drinks a day for being Diamond+ as well as unlimited drinks from the casino when it is open for being prime. If you have any questions about the ship feel free to ask away and I will do my best to find out. *I put an asterisk because is it really unlimited with a $20 per day limit at Playmaker's and Portside? I checked the new prices and $20 does not go very far like it used to.
  16. Kenny Chesney said it best, Better get to livin', 'cause all we've got is here and now. It’s time to start another Andrew, Lisa and Owen review, this time on Oasis of the Seas. We fly tomorrow to Miami and we board the ship Sunday. We are already at our preflight hotel in Toronto. As for our cruise ports, they are the safest in the islands. If you asked us years ago if Jamaica could be our safest port I wouldn’t have taken that bet. Our itinerary is subject to change.😉 Honestly, CoCo Cay should be the safest. Well, except for the mind numbing and soul destroying island theme song. I’ve finally gotten it out of my head from our last visit in July. The bet the song will be earwormed into my skull before we get off the pier Tuesday morning.
  17. Hi everybody! I need a little help with this. We are doing Oasis transatlantic on October this year from Barcelona down to Fort Lauderdale. I have been looking out for info on this ship and found that maybe she will undergo refurbishment or dry dock before my trip. Do you guys out there now something about this? And if so, should I worry about it not being on time for my voyage?? Thanks to all !!
  18. So I have a promise to fulfill. I have written this review of the Royal Loft Suite on the Oasis of the Seas for a few fellow CC members that have requested it. navy1234Cool Cruiser Join Date: Jun 2013 Location: Paris Posts: 2 Hi Andrew, I understood by reading your messages that you had several cruises on RCI and in the Royal Loft Suite. I made a search in all your messages and didn't find any review of your cruises in RLS. Did you already write a review about this wonderful suite? Would love to hear your feedback about it and also to see pictures of the suite. Thanks in advance for your reply. Are you from Paris France or Paris Ontario? We were in Paris two years ago and loved it. We stayed in St Germaine Depres for a week and had an amazing time. Now if you are from Paris Ontario it too is a wonderful town an hour from where we live. I think I should be able to do something by Monday of next week so please check the main RC boards. Andrew jrljelCool Cruiser Join Date: Jan 2003 Posts: 235 Oh, PLEASE DO give a review of the RLS!!! How exciting! AND...please tell us how in the world you afford that. I have always wondered what people do who are in those Royal and Loft suites, not to mention the Royal Loft Suite. Was it a present or something super special? I hope you have a great story. Can't wait to live that experience vicariously through you words. I've only once been in an Owner's Suite and that was heavenly. Thanks! Some subscribers of this review will have met us before on other cruises and others might just know us from the boards. We have met many great people and made some virtual friends through the boards here on CC. I hope that those who sign up will enjoy my review. For one sailing we opened the RLS to a cabin crawl and we opened the doors to a few other cruisers that we met along the way for both sailings. So I shall start with the reason to why we have sailed in the RLS. On March 29, 2010 our family that consisted of three became four. There was myself (Andrew), my great wife Lisa and our dear son Owen and the newest member Allison. What should have been an exciting time in our lives turned into what would become some of the hardest but most rewarding time of our lives. When she was 4 months of age Allie was diagnosed with an extremely rare genetic brain disorder called Lissencephaly and Microcephaly. If you wish to learn a bit about her diagnosis please go to the following link. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lissencephaly We were gifted to have Allie with us for 2 years and two days before she passed. Our family went on a long, scary, interesting and wonderful journey that did not tear us apart, but brought us closer together. I will quote from a part of her eulogy that I wrote and read. “With so many challenges in her life, Allie showed us how to be thankful as there is always another day with a fresh beginning. That is how we lived everyday with Allie. Each sunrise was the start of a new day. Just as now with Allie gone, each sunrise is the start of another new day. It’s hard to let go isn’t it? It is hard, but that is life. She taught us that you continue on, just like we did after she was diagnosed. In life, once in a while you get those rare moments of clarity, those flashes when the universe makes sense, and you try desperately to hold on to them. They are the life boats for the darker times, when the vastness of it all, the incomprehensible nature of life is completely illusive. So the question becomes, or should have been all a long... What would you do if you knew you only had one day, or one week, or one month to live. What life boat would you grab on to? Allie taught us to hang onto the things that matter and stop and take that breath of fresh air. Allie taught us to remember the things that we have known our entire lives. Love, Family, Laughter, and Friends.” With Allie gone we now had to discover our second “new normal” in two years. Our family of four was three again. We were starting to venture down another road in life, a road with just the three of us and a fourth that was with us in spirit. Having had great help with both of our families we now thought it was time to thank them. Thank them for the help over the numerous times in watching Owen while we were at the local children’s hospital on multiple occasions while she had bouts of phenomena, blood infections, tests, Dr. appointments, surgery for Allie, as well as numerous other reasons. The best way we knew how to say thanks and to make new memories was to do something we enjoy. So we decided to take both of our in-laws on their own cruises as our way of saying thank-you. Now I will provide a bit of preamble. Some of you might remember our review of our Oasis July 2011 cruise that we took. It was the one where the mirror fell off our wall and landed on our bed in the middle of the night. If not click here: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=1474659 Lisa and I took this cruise as a much needed vacation. It replaced a cruise that we had to cancel the previous February. As it turned out Allie’s g-tube surgery was scheduled to be 2 days prior to embarkation. It had been delayed multiple times and had been originally scheduled to be done months prior to our cruise that we had to cancel. So the cancelled cruise date went by and we learned how a feeding pump and g tube work. A few months later we both said it was time for a holiday so we used the refund money to book a cruise on Oasis. I think it turned out to be a blessing in disguise. The ship I swore I would never sail on became our oasis. This ship provided us a getaway that was well needed and long overdue. Nights of sleep and days of relaxation, the polar opposite of the life we were living at home. So now I have answered part of Jrlje question to why we were in the RLS. To answer a few more of her questions on a quicker note. Yes it was for a super special occasion, we covered all costs of both trips, and as you already know it truly is a great story to why we did this. As for the cost, we will leave that to one’s imagination. Now for what I do for work, that is a conversation that is easier to have in person, maybe while having a drink on the Rising Tide Bar. My work is all encompassing and averages 50-60 hours a week. One of the reasons I love cruising is my phone goes into the safe and emails left on the mainland. Our first cruise in the RLS was July of 2012 and the second time was in March of 2013. So for those of you that have read this far I will describe what this review will be about. It won’t be about the cruise as I am sure that you can imagine the great memories that we had made. It will be to fulfill the request for information about the room itself, and the experience that comes with the room. Many of us have had great experiences on the Oasis so I don’t need to go on about that, or the CL, or the MDR or ports of call. It will be broken out into the room areas and different aspects related to the room. This is a good old fashioned cabin review. Embarkation It went very smooth. When we checked in at the suite area Robert was sent over to greet us and he was our escort, no handler, no that sounds wrong… he was our “guy”. He walked with us through the security process, check in, group photos, muster wrist band for our son and then onto the ship. We arrived at port at noon so we were able to right on board. He was going to take us up to the CL, but we thanked him as we knew where we were going. Truth be told we were also embarrassed as he held his papers in the air, cut into lines and made an ordeal of the fact that we were VIP. Anyone who has met me and our family know that is not who we are. We have since met Robert on other occasions as we are suite cruises and we make a point of saying hello. For recent stay in the RLS we just let him escort us to the gangway door and we were on our way. Thankfully no papers were held in the air during the process this time as he has discovered that we are relaxed cruises and not the ones who need to be status inflated. Deck 17 As we entered the secured area of the loft suites we were rather excited to be approaching our cabin. You know the same type of excitement that you have when you are about to step foot on the ship. We walked down the double wide hallway lined with dark wood paneling which was nicely decorated with photos. The thing that we noticed was the quietness. Not often did we pass the other occupants in the halls at any time of day, and we never had any late night door bell ringing. That is one great advantage of being in any room on deck 17. In the past we have experienced late night doorbell rings that suite cruisers get to experience on other floors of ship. Not to mention the tromping of feet and loud voices as the late night revelers return to their cabins. Hey, someone has to party, that was me a few years ago. Like university days. First impressions of the RLS For once pictures in cruise books were accurate. Our first cruise ever was on the Dawn Princess and we had a balcony room. Well we walked into that cabin and wondered where was the rest of the room? Our washroom the night before in the hotel was a third the size of that cabin. It is amazing what a wide angle lens can do. Back to the Oasis, the reason for this review. We slid the room key in the door and open it up. WOW. I would have said holy $^&*, except for the fact that we had little ears with us but we were in the privacy of our cabin. An extremely luxurious one I might say. Floor Plan of RLS
  19. Hello, We've only sailed in Oasis class before (Oasis twice and Allure once) and we're thinking of going on Navigator of the Seas this time. (We've also done Disney Dream, but that was 4 nights only). I want to manage my expectations and thought I'd ask you here. 🙂 1. One of the reasons why we were on Oasis class only is because I get seasick. It was the worst when I was on Allures going to Eastern Caribbean, and it was the least when I took Oasis from NJ - perhaps we're close to the shore? We're thinking of Navigator, going to Mexico, leaving from LA in the summer. Would the movement be an issue? where should we get the stateroom? We always have done mid/aft oceanview balcony and worked well. but again, this is a different route, and it is also a smaller ship, so not sure if the same will apply. 2. When we were on Oasis last year, we were pretty excited to be back as it says she was 'amplified'. Then we learned the cabins are not updated. It clearly was showing the age. Navigator being an older ship, would this be the same case? Is there a particular room/rooms where she'd be more updated? 3. Kids club - Oasis had a lot of kids - we sailed in last August and the ship was just massive. Will Navigator also have good number of kids? Our daughter wants to make friends (she is 9 y/o). We're also looking at the end of August sail - and was wondering what to expect since most of the California schools will be back. 4. I've heard the show quality is kind of so-so, except for the skating show. We were pretty big on broadway shows that Oasis class had - Hair Spray, Cats, Mamma Mia! -, and I dont know what the Navigator show is about. Is this a child-friendly show? And do they have other shows? - like the Aqua show? 5. I've also heard that you dont have to book the shows in advance - is that true? What about My Time Dining? 6. Service and food - I assumed this really varies ship to ship and time of the year, etc. I am okay if service and food is at par with my other cruise experience. Can anyone comment, if you have traveled recently? TBH, we did see the service level changed (to worse) last year, but we also had a benefit of the doubt that it is because they just came back from COVID and was hard to predict. I am hoping it will be a slightly better experience though. We normally don't do specialty dining. So our experiences are limited to Windjammer for lunch and MDR for dinner. Thank you so much!
  20. Does anyone know a firm reason why the Oasis of the Seas has not left yet? I have someone on that cruise and they are concerned because all the other ships are gone and they sit. It is after 6:30 PM.
  21. Bit of an odd one...can you still get tablets of soap from the room stewards on the Oasis if you don't want to use the squirty stuff in the bottles on the wall? Just asking, as we were on P&O at Xmas and they've stopped supplying tablets of soap. Simon
  22. Has anyone rented them on the Harmony? and anyone know what the location of them are? Thanks for any input
  23. Hello, My family of 4 is booked on Oasis of the Seas in a D4 Balcony room on Deck 6 (Room 6698). This is my third cruise in the Oasis. On prior occasions we were in Deck 14 and loved it. Any thoughts on Deck 6 in comparison to Deck 14? I know the noise from the dining rooms might be an issue but other than that are there any other issues with bad view from the balcony due to the lifeboats being nearby? Also, any other disadvantages of Deck 6?
  24. We are on Oasis in mid May and I was expecting to book shows around the start of April so not for almost two months. However, the shows have been released to book tonight! So first of all if you have an upcoming cruise get checking. Second, has this happened so early before? Does anyone think it could be in error? Or perhaps Royal is trialling releasing them earlier?
  25. Hi everybody! At the Tucson airport and ready to get this trip going! Long layover in Atlanta, then to Miami with a day to relax before boarding the Oasis on Sunday. I haven't done a live for the last couple cruises, and was debating doing this one, especially since I'm really not doing much on the cruise as far as exciting ports and excursions...HOWEVER, am planning to run the Rock n Roll 10k in Las Vegas a week after the cruise is over, so preparing for that will bring a bit of a twist to my vacation plans. This is the context for "Running" in the title. Quick background on the cruise: made some new friends on the Allure last year who talked up cruising around Super Bowl. They make it sounds pretty cool, and they had the Feb 11 Oasis cruise already booked. That Allure cruise was seven days and felt like I really didn't get to experience the ship, so ended up booking two weeks - this is not my first B2B, but first time was able to get the same cabin for both legs. Unfortunately, my friends ended up having to cancel but I'm sure I'll still have a great time. The cruises have three ports: Falmouth Jamaica, St Thomas and Nassau, plus two times each at Coco Cay and Labadee. For the first cruise booked the zip line in Labedee and the new beach club in Coco Cay; but nothing in the other ports. Very curious on how the Superbowl festivities play out; I've read what I could find on the boards and will do my best to share what I find out on board. The lack of activities is two fold, part because I've been to these places before, but also to keep flexible for training and/or impromptu adventures. The impromptu part is out of character for me (I'm a planner), but have had good luck getting ideas from fellow passengers, in bars, during the cruise. No pet photos 😞 so will share a photo of my overpacking, and beer at the airport!
