  1. We've sailed only the larger/newer ships and now are hoping to venture out on Rhapsody for an itinerary out of Venice. I have read just about all I could find about this type of sailing but still have a few questions. Would appreciate any guidance! Trying to decide between Grand Suite 2 BR and 2 Junior Suites (aft). We have never had an aft balcony so it would be a first, though this would not be one of the coveted corners (but the huge balconies in regular aft cabins seem nice!). Any thoughts on extra movement/vibration in those? (We've always been midship -- though the Adriatic seems generally pretty calm, right?) We also have never been in a real suite (just juniors). The GS-2BRs are midship, and we would not get one on Deck 8 (because of potential pool noise overhead). I've read the second bedroom is tiny in these suites. Not a huge deal because of the living room area, but does anyone know about that second bathroom? Is the shower the same as in the regular cabins? Regarding suite perks, because this is port-intensive, I'd think priority tenders would be helpful but not sure. We know nothing about suite lounges (concierge lounges?) and timings of happy hours, so would love any info re those. (All I've heard is that they get crowded.) Are there hors d'oeuvres offered during those hours? Separately (but kinda related), with such a port-intensive sailing, does later dining seem the way to go? (If so, those snacks would come in handy.) We've typically ended up with My Time Dining in the end -- and likely will be eating at a few specialty restaurants -- but since we have options right now, just want to know what to go ahead and reserve. Finally ... silly question, but is there something like Sorrento's on board? Those late-night piping-hot pizza slices were nice to have on our recent Anthem trip! TIA
  2. Good afternoon all. I just booked Rhapsody of the Seas for next October. I picked 7076 I hope this is a good choice. Any insight would be appreciated. However, my question is there are a few cabins mid ship on deck 7 and 8 that look like they should be balconies but doesn't look like they actually have a balcony and when I look at the outside of the ship it also doesn't look like a balcony. Can someone offer me some info on this please. Thank you!!!! Kim
  3. We are thinking about going on Rhapsody of the Seas November 23rd on a itinerary out of Tampa. Two in our party have never been on a ship this size. They have sailed on Adventure of the Seas or a bigger ship (Allure) on an Eastern Cruise or Southern Cruise. They tend to get very mild motion sickness in that they may not feel good one evening and need to take it easy and possibly take some medication. Does Rhapsody of the seas have more motion due to its smaller size? Would sailing in the Gulf of Mexico tend to make a difference? (Smoother) Thanks so much, Linda
  4. Hello, I will be going on this ship. I would like to learn more about the ship from fellow cruisers who have been on her. How is the food and entertainment? Rock climbing wall?
  5. Looking at possibly doing the Greek Isles fall of 2020...looking for opinions on Rhapsody vs. Explorer for this. We were on Rhapsody for an Alaskan cruise in 2015 and at that time, she needed some TLC which I believe she got some of in 2016, but see Explorer is getting a refurbishment in March/April 2020.....I cannot find anything on any kind of "refresher" for Rhapsody coming up. Looking for opinions regarding the ships in regards to sailing the Greek Isles from anyone who has actually sailed on them over there. We are in Florida, so the Caribbean is our usual sailing grounds, so thanks for your opinions about the Greek Isles area and the ships! Thanks!
  6. I want to get the soda package but was wondering if the Rhapsody OS has freestyle soda machine onboard and where it(they) are located? Wanted more than COKE in the MDR so I would bring my cup of Soda into the MDR. Thanks for any info.
  7. We will be sailing in the Oceanview Suite on Rhapsody (cabin 8000). While I have been told this class of cabin receives Grand Suite status with the suite perks, I cannot find a definitive answer as to whether Voom internet is included as a perk. I know it was when we sailed on Allure, but oasis class ships have their own suite categories, vs. vison class that basically only have junior suite and grand suite levels. Has anyone sailed Rhapsody or another vision class ship that could help?
  8. The review I wrote about our April/May Rhapsody cruise has just been "published" in the Cruise Critic Review section. I avidly read all the Rhapsody reviews in anticipation of our cruise, so I felt like I should add my impressions for others who want to know what to expect, or compare my opinions with theirs.
  9. Besides a bigger room, are there any benefits of a grand suite over junior suite? I don’t see a coastal kitchen, we get the drink package so concierge lounge doesn’t mean too much. And we typically plan our meals and show ahead so that benefit doesn’t help us much either. But we have never been on this class of ship so not sure if I’m missing something. just not sure it’s worth an extra 2k per room. I think I would rather have that for excursions and dinners TIA
  10. It looks like there are two ports in Roatan. Does the Rhapsody of the Seas dock at Coxen Hole or Mahogany Bay? Trying to set up an excursion for this December.
  11. Just got off the Rhapsody. Some, in the recent past, have been saying, food not good, staff not good, ship old and beat up, etc. NOT SO. Ship is older yes, in great shape. Food very good and great service. Service was excellent throughout the ship. Shows were all entertaining If all RCCL ships get a 10 for staff friendly, then the Rhapsody gets an 11 or 12. Did see some passengers that were not very nice to the staff, always one or two. Could not ask for better. I'm not sure what some people want out of a cruise, but this one was outstanding. All the people we talked to, and we visited with a lot, agreed. Did not hear one request for a ten.
  12. Anyone currently on Rhapsody transatlantic, or on the first few cruises ex Venice, can you check how easy and quick it is to disembark and clear immigration. We have an 11.15 flight and I've heard that the airport is a zoo so will want to get off ASAP. Also are there plenty of taxi's at the port, thanks Sue
  13. We just booked Corner Aft Balcony cabin 7152 on the Rhapsody and after looking at some YouTube videos could not be more pleased! It has a wonderful wrap around balcony. We may not want to leave the room! Cruise is not until 2/20/21! Now I have to wait 2 years before I can enjoy it! This will be our first time on this ship, any feed back would be appreciated.
  14. Hi there can anyone help with details of who is the current hotel director for the Europe season-thanks
  15. Sorry if this has been covered already. We are newbies, my sister and me...questioning the value of unlimited dining on a 14 day T/A cruise, $279 which works out to $20/day including gratuity, when there are just the three specialty restaurants, and I feel we will want to dine in the main dining room quite a bit as well. Thank you. I'll go ahead and ask another question, I feel we will want the unlimited drinks package too, for the specialty coffee and better non-alcoholic drinks, as well as cocktails, and we drink beer liberally, but at $700 each plus 18% grat, has it been worth it to other cruisers? I do like the idea of the convenience and not having to think of the balance of our bar tab. Thank you!
  16. Has anyone stayed in stateroom 8000 on Rhapsody since the recategorization in May 2018. It’s now VO Ocean View Suite. I’m guessing they will consider in a junior suite, but at 2 bed and 2 bath I can’t seem to confirm that, especially after the May changes.
  17. Hello all! I just wanted to give a quick review of our cruise that we just had that ended on May 18. First, it is a much older and smaller ship so not a lot of activities for teens. I was with my 18 yr old daughter. She did the rock wall and went to the gym a few times. The cruise director and activity staff were absolutely awesome! We participated in many of the games at night especially the adult ones. This was my first royal Caribbean cruise so if you like crazy people and fun do not miss the crazy quest game!!! Laughed so hard! We had a team of eight and included two guys who were participating in everything so funny! Do not go to this game show if you do not have a sense of humor or easily offended 😂😂. We really enjoyed the flags of the crew. Can’t remember exact name, but that was nice. We thought the food was excellent. My only comparison is Carnival so this was much better in my opinion. My daughter is a vegetarian and the dining room choices at dinner were great. Did not eat in the wind jammer very much maybe once or twice for breakfast. The breakfast in the dining room was much better. We thought the shows were terrible. Probably the only negative of the whole trip. I had heard that the magician illusionist was good but we did not see that one One tip I didn’t know. I bought the coffee card which gave me 15 specialty coffees and I did not use them all had about seven or eight left I was told that they never expire. I would have thrown that card away if someone had not told me! That’s all I have. Really enjoyed the ports and can’t wait to go on another RC cruise!
  18. Does anyone know the times of shows on rhapsody for the Europe season out of Venice thanks
  19. We are traveling on the Rhapsody out of Tampa on Jan 4th 2020. I have been looking to see if there are any dinner packages. All I am seeing is per night prices. We usually do 3 or 4 night is the specialty restaurants and usually buy a package not on a nightly basis. Can anyone shed any light on this?
  20. We are going in June and I read that here maybe a small staircase located at the area of the aft cabins. Does anyone know if this is true and if it is open for the passenger. It is suppose to go to the spa area and the solarium from deck 6 or 7. Thanks in advance.
  21. There is no drydock scheduled. She is docking in Barcelona on Oct 26, and will be doing a Transatlantic from Barcelona on Nov 9, but there is no info anywhere on what is happening in that 2 week period.
  22. Is there a safe in a junior suite on Rhapsody of the Seas? Thanks.
  23. I signed up for the beverage package that includes bottled water. Can someone tell me the locations where i can get the bottled water? Thanks.
  24. Can anyone supply this info would be appreciated we sail in June from Venice thankyou
  25. Hi I am going to book a med cruise on the Rhapsody of the Seas next year and as we are on a cruise over Christmas as well just want to book an interior cabin. Having looked at the deck plans can anyone recommend which floor is preferable. I usually prefer higher floored cabins but looks as though we will be above theatre or disco if on deck 7. Does anyone have any experience of which interior cabins are preferable. thank you Dawn
