  1. Just found a picture of me with friends on the Serenade in 2001. No one remembers the month. Do you think the crown and anchor would go back that far and be able to find the date based on name?
  2. Hi All......has anyone done the Norway itinerary? What does the Daily Compass look like? Are there still as many activities as in Med and Caribbean cruises? Such as trivia, game shows etc. We enjoy all of these and look forward to them as much as the ports. Also if anyone has any tips on this ship share those too 🙂 Thanks!
  3. If we are 3 in a balcony cabin will the balcony have 3 chairs? or might there not be room for 3 chairs? Can we ask for extra blankets? How are the beds on Serenade? i hear mixed reports on Royal beds being confortable . If we are 3 and have sofa plus pullman , which is likely to be made up for use ? we would probably prefer the pullman. Do seasick bands work? on a previous cruise we bought one pair for my son that will not be travelling this time with us , so i have those and am thinking of buying another 2 pairs just incase , on previous cruise i was fine onboard when i got off ship was the problem i felt the ground was moving i was like that for about a week but didnt really bother me. TIA
  4. We are looking at taking a 7 day cruise on Serenade this fall out of Boston. Our last two cruises and my wife’s only cruises were on Oasis. I’ve been on DCL Magic twice and my first cruise was on Nordic Empress before she became Empress of the Seas. I’m excited that she is open to a smaller ship but I am just curious about the 7 day Bermuda cruise out of Boston. How are are the port facilities in Boston? We will drive from Connecticut. Does the Park Cafe have the Roast Beef sandwiches? What is the cruise demographic? What condition is the Serenade? Thank you everyone for your feedback.
  5. What are your opinions on this aft balcony? 7674 I know it's above a music lounge. However, 7674 and 7172 are the only aft balconies showing as available on the cruise I'm looking at. My research indicates that there are a lot of complaints for 7172, mostly because of noise from the lounge below, although there are some indicating the balcony is the smallest of all the afts. I cannot find too much on7674 however. Anyone know.? Also, these two balconies are 4Bs. 3Bs, 2Bs and 1Bs are all guarantees. Are any of the staterooms in these categories afts? This is for a cruise almost a year away. Is this normal?
  6. My DH and I booked 9258 on the Serenade for Southern Caribbean for a B2B during the Christmas and New Year Holiday. This is our first aft cabin. We would love some feedback from anyone who has stayed in this cabin or one similar to it. We're excited about getting an aft. Photos will be a huge plus. Thanks!!
  7. I will be traveling with my husband on our first b2b cruises in June, 2019 on Serenade of the Seas. We thoroughly love cruising but this is our first b2b and I would appreciate any information or insights you seasoned cruisers can pass on to us. We booked the same cabin for both cruises so we will not need to move between cabins, but if we get a last minute upgrade on one of the cruises, will they help us move cabins? The first cruise begins and ends in Copenhagen and the second cruise begins in Copenhagen and ends in Stockholm. Any suggestions on how to make the transition day go smoother would be appreciated. At this time we think we will disembark in Copenhagen and sightsee before returning to the ship but we will have done some sightseeing there before the cruise as we arrive 4 days before the cruise so that day is still unplanned at this time. Laundry is a consideration since we will have 29 days of travel total. Has anyone taken laundry off the ship on these turnaround days, especially in Copenhagen and have for suggestions for me? Also, will the ship have any special meeting for those on the first cruise that will be doing both cruises? I know from my Cruise Critic roll calls that we have a large number of people who are doing these two b2b cruises. Fortunately we have Meet and Mingle parties set up for both cruises. Penny
  8. Hi everyone - hope all is well! It's been a few years since I've cruised Royal Caribbean, and I know I haven't kept up with the various changes/updates to dining options, so I'd love input on what folks would do in the following scenario: My mom and I are cruising on Serenade to the Baltics in July, and because it's just the two of us, we would enjoy sitting with others at dinner to meet folks and swap stories from the day. We're currently assigned the 8:30pm MDR slot, which is likely too late for us, and based on our tours, the 6:30pm option might be too early, meaning we don't want to be rushing when we're back on the ship to change and go to dinner. What's My Time Dining like on Serenade these days and how does it work? Are we able to request to sit with others? I'm also assuming that, with the exception of the Chef's Table, any specialty restaurant will likely put us at a table for two. Thanks in advance for your help! Happy Cruising!
  9. My husband and I will be cruising in cabin #7500 on Serenade of the Seas which is listed as a forward spacious ocean view. We have cruised on a aft facing balcony before (perfect for an Alaska cruise) but this is our first time having a cabin that is totally at the front of the ship with just a window. I cannot find any reviews or pictures for this cabin on the Serenade or one of its sister ships (Radiance, Jewel, Brilliance?). Since this will be a b2b cruise for us in the same cabin on both cruises, I would love to hear from people who have stayed in this cabin before. I know on some ships this is a family cabin but that is not the case with this one. Thank you, Penny
  10. Hi, I am cruising on the Serenade of the Seas in April. Do they offer any boot camp type classes? Do they have kettle bells in the gym?
  11. I am looking at an Alaska cruise for September this year and had planned to do another one on Carnival Spirit, but in checking out Serenade of the Seas, RCCL has a very good price for BC residents which beats Carnival's by a few hundred dollars (and as a solo traveller, that's always good). They have cabin 7108 available, but from the deck plans, I'm not sure whether this is a good cabin or not. It appears this cabin is right next to the outside elevator? Does anyone have any info on this cabin? It also looks like the balcony might be a little larger to reach the curve of the elevator, but I'm wondering if it would impact the view/privacy, etc. Thanks for your help.
  12. Does anyone know where the pool tables are located on the Serenade. The don't appear on the deck plans. They used to be right after the Schooner Bar on Deck 6
  13. Can anyone very recently off Serenade give me the current voom (not stream) internet 2 device price? Trying to decide to buy now or wait until on board 3/4 with the D+ discount.
  14. Anyone ever done this and what did you think?
  15. Hi Everyone - hope your Saturdays are off to a great start! Is it possible for a Grande Suite bed on Serenade to be made up as two separate twins? Traveling with my mom, and I'm thinking that would be more comfortable for us than one of us taking the sofa pull out. Thanks! Joanna
  16. Debating whether to get the weekly package or not. How crowded is it usually? Also anyone have photos of the rainforest shower and are there women’s locker rooms near the showers? I know there are steam rooms and saunas that are free but are there showers in the locker rooms or only the thermal suite? More detail about what is included in the suite would be appreciated. we did something similar on NCL and it was nice to have a little extra space in the locker room to dry our hair and get ready. They had lounge chairs looking out the back of the ship with aromatherapy , no one was every in there hardly .
  17. Sailing on Serenade in March. Can anyone tell the hours the Diamond Lounge is open? Trying to make dinner plans with another couple so want to make sure we allot time for the Diamond Lounge each evening. Think some open as early at 4:30 PM......so any help is appreciated. Thanks
  18. Scenario: 1) First RCL after about a dozen cruises on other lines. 2) OV cabin, deck 3 - friends had balcony, deck 7 - some of these opinions below were also shared by them. 3) 12 night including Christmas and New Years. 4) I typically avoid mega ships. 5) Bought beverage package First of all, my opinion of cruises is “no such thing as a bad cruise, just some better than others”. To make this short, some comments: 1) I was disappointed in the lack of comfortable bedding. They were horrible. 2) MDR reasonably good. 3) Service was good by most 4) Virtually impossible to get chairs near pool area, either level. Chair hogs with no RCL “towel police”. 5) As a Makers Mark drinker, it was in short, almost nonexistent supply. I heard some complaints about it when I inquired so I wasn’t alone. 6) Cruise Director - not impressed. 7) cabins were smaller than expected. Great storage though. Anyway, I could go on but I believe you get my point. I’ve done other ships on a repeat basis but will not on Serenade regardless of it going into dry dock or not. For the price paid for a Holiday cruise, the value was not there. anyway, my 2 cents - have a great day.
  19. A bit worried our B2B first leg is showing sold out and won't let me look at shore excursions. I have hotel and air booked feeling nervous. Does anyone know if ship is boojed by private group. We booked this dream cruise over a year ago. Thanks for any help you can offer.
  20. Right now i am booked on serenade of the seas to alaska for 7 nights as i thought a smaller cruiseship was better for first time. However there is a short 3 night pacific coastal cruise on ovation. I'm not sure if a shorter cruise would be better for first time. There also doesn't seem to be a lot of chatter about ovation of the seas on these boards. I am a solo cruiser if that makes a difference.
  21. DH and I are Diamond on Royal due to our many Celebrity Cruises, but have only done a couple of Royal cruises and those were more than 5 years ago. I'm hoping that frequent Royal cruisers can answer a few questions to the newbies. Is there a suite dedicated restaurant and do Jr. Suites get to use it? What amenities come with Jr. Suites? Is there a Diamond lounge and when is it opened? Is there any free laundry for Diamond, or just for Diamond+? Do Diamond members get any free WIFI? Priority boarding or tendering? Theater seating? Thanks in advance. I was told by a reservation specialist (? he had to look up everything I asked) that there is a special area of the MDR dedicated to suite guests with a different menu than the rest. Is that true? Thanks in advance for your help. Are the Jr. Suites on Deck 10 below the pool deck problematic with noise from above? How is the ship? I didn't think it possible, but the Royal Website is worse than Celebrity's for finding information. What Class of ship is Serenade? What amenities does it offer?
  22. Good morning, can anyone detail their experience for me at Chops Grille recently? I have it booked for the first night of our 25th anniversary cruise in January. I was already a little hesitant at the $39.99 price per person since a decent already paid for meal is right down the hall, but lately I have also been reading bad reviews. I am considering keeping my $80 and skipping it. Is it worth it? Is there a better venue on-board more worth the extra charge? Thanks
  23. Dear fellow cruisers,we are joining Serenade of the Sea this week and have arrived in the USA and have left our UK to USA ‘adapters’ at home. Can you tell me if Serenade has the USB charging facility in the cabins? If not I need to go buy some adapter s. Thank you in anticipation for your help.
  24. This looks especially interesting since my mom and I wanted to try a couple of the specialty restaurants on board. We currently have MTD. I understand it's the first 2 nights of the cruise - not a problem. My question is, will the restaurants be Chops & Giovanni's? It would be great if it those as my mom doesn't eat sushi. If we should get the "sushi" restaurant, can we change it to something else? And if I book it, will we be missing the vidalia onion tart or escargot or something equally delicious that we shouldn't miss on the first 2 nights? We are sailing in Sept to Canada/New England.
