View of extended balcony below on deck 9 and extended mini-suite on deck 8. Balcony Size? Normal or oversized for class? – Normal as a regular balcony for Breakaway/Getaway ship class. Room for 2 chairs only plus a very small table, barely the size of a room service tray. Was wind a problem? – Not on our balcony If an aft cabin, was soot a problem? – Not applicable Any specific problems with this cabin? – I believe it’s a common Epic problem that occurs when you turn the faucet on. If you turn it all the way on it will hit the bowl at just the right angle so that it skips out of the sink. We just kept a towel on the side for when we forgot. Any other comments? - Stateroom is 4th. one from the front of ship, Haven corner FWD suite is just ahead of this pic. Very quiet location & minimal foot traffic. Just a long walk - good for exercising several times daily. Corridor is narrow & not easy to pass thru if service cart & equipments from housekeeping are in the hallway - passage to the Studio Lounge is thru the same hallway - about 145 steps from the FWD elevators & stairs to this balcony cabin, so it is a long way. With ocean waves at 14.5 ft. or "large" waves & cross wind, some motion are felt but a smooth ride overall at light to moderate seas of waves under 10 ft. Noise & vibrations are felt when ship is in port or tendering and steering sideways to turn tightly. This is a room for 3 with the sofabed near the balcony door, the bed is next to the closet & close to the bathroom & entry - the official deck plan & layout is misleading suggesting the sofabed is next to the closet. MagnoliaBlossom Posted April 19, 2015 #103 Share Posted April 19, 2015 Ship: Jewel Cabin 8583, Inside Port Not connecting Quiet? Mostly. This cabin is next to the steward's supply closet, even though it is not shown onthe deck map. We heard the cart being taken out and put away put it was not bothersome. Otherwise very quiet. It is a sideways cabin with the bed to the left of the door and the athanor closet to the right. A bit snug, but plenty of storage. The toilet is angled and does not having a sliding door which makes the bathroom feel larger and affords more comfortable seating. There is one electrical outlet which is at the vanity area. The location is quite convenient even though deck eight canbe a bit of a maze.

Was stateroom a connecting stateroom? - No Balcony View - Give comments on view, noting if location of any obstructions was an issue. – N/A Balcony Size? Normal or oversized for class? - N/A Was wind a problem? - N/A (No) If an aft cabin, was soot a problem? - No soot problem (It was an aft cabin) Any specific problems with this cabin? - None that I found. People on other parts of the ship were reporting water problems, but we did not have any. Everything was clean and worked as well. Any other comments? - If booking this cabin, please note that there is only 1 bed hanging on the wall. Other is a pull out bed, which will join with the other 2 beds. Might be bit cramped if booking more than 2 people. For 2 people this cabin does its job, a bit far to walk (you have to cross Blue Lagoon) and go to the other end of the hallway, but other than that, very quiet, not much traffic on that part of the ship, room service was not a problem (10-15 max). Would book this cabin again without hesitation.

bjtravelnews Posted June 30, 2015 #112 Share Posted June 30, 2015 OK - I copied another post to get the basic template and filled in with my info: Ship - Breakaway Deck - 14 Stateroom # - 14104 (Spa Balcony) Stateroom Category – B8 Starboard or Port Side - Port Quiet Stateroom? (With comments on problems) – Mostly yes Was stateroom a connecting stateroom? - No Balcony View - Give comments on view, noting if location of any obstructions was an issue. – This room is the third from the front. The bridge sticks out in front, so there is no view looking forward. Otherwise, the view is great. Balcony Size? Normal or oversized for class? - Normal (and bigger than I expected based on other comments). We found that placing the chairs sideways (facing each other) gave us way more room. Was wind a problem? - No If an aft cabin, was soot a problem? - n/a Any specific problems with this cabin? - The only complaint is that the cabin is across the hall from the access door for the crew. We could hear the door slamming all night long. Otherwise - no other noise in the hall. The room is also directly above the shuffleboard court. So if you keep the balcony door open, you will hear the clicking noise from pushing the markers. Not an annoying sound - bit took us a few days to realize that was what the noise was. Any other comments? - Would take this cabin again. It was wonderful to have access to the spa.

(With comments on problems) – Yes Was stateroom a connecting stateroom? - No Balcony View - Give comments on view, noting if location of any obstructions was an issue. – We liked the overhang because it gave us partial shade, but some people don't like it. Close enough to the bridge that we could see what they were up to, but not bumping right up against them. We thought it was a a great view. Balcony Size? Normal or oversized for class? - Seemed generous to us, but this was our first time in a Minisuite. Was wind a problem? - No If an aft cabin, was soot a problem? - N/A Any specific problems with this cabin? - No Any other comments? - We like being at the forward end of the ship. We were just forward of the forward elevators. No Inside Cabin opposite us. Occasionally we could hear Housekeeping staff opening and closing door opposite us, but usually very quiet. To our Left is a Penthouse Suite, which was very quiet for our cruise. Very close to the Bridge Viewing Room, all we had to do was cross to the Port side and go a few cabins forward. My only concern was that our cabin steward had a LOT of penthouse suites to clean, so we always seemed to be last, no matter what our little sign said. (With comments on problems) – Yes Was stateroom a connecting stateroom? - No Balcony View - Excellent view looking forward and straight out at the ocean. Great view looking aft if you stood at the railing. Looking straight down, you see life boats and the roof of the Waterfront. Balcony Size? This cabin has an angled balcony which has more space than a regular one. We had one lounge chair, two regular chairs and a small table. We even had enough room to position the chairs in different ways as desired to block or seek the sunshine. We've already booked another angled balcony. Was wind a problem? - No If an aft cabin, was soot a problem? - N/A Any specific problems with this cabin? - No Any other comments? The bed is by the closet. We had previously sailed the BA with the bed by the balcony and were disappointed that this cabin was reversed but ended up preferring the bed by the closet. We enjoyed sitting on the sofa looking out to sea (when it was too rainy to sit on the balcony). We had two night tables with different widths. The narrower one was placed between the bed and the closet, making a tight squeeze to access the closet. We asked the cabin steward to move the wider table (the one between the bed and sofa) and to move the bed away from the closet. We tried putting both between the bed and closet but didn't need that much space. With the bed moved slightly towards the sofa, the wider table by the closet and the narrower one by the sofa, we had plenty of space to access all of the closet. (With comments on problems) – My cousin was in this cabin. Since she's not on CC, I am posting on her behalf. First, you can sometimes hear music from somewhere (I assumed from the deck 8 venues). Second, there is a water pipe running down along the wall between the bed area and the balcony (it's on the balcony). Between 4 AM and 8 AM every morning, the pipe made a rhythmic tapping noise which woke them up. We assumed the deck crew was washing down the upper deck, and the noise was water draining from above. Bring ear plugs if you're a light sleeper. Was stateroom a connecting stateroom? - No Balcony View - Excellent looking out to sea. Great view at the railing looking forward and aft. (With comments on problems) – Yes, being the last cabin on the starboard side (before the actual aft balconies facing the wake), it was very quiet. Some noise/vibration from the engines depending on the port and how much the ship needed to maneuver in port. Woke me up a couple of days. On days I was already awake when the vibration started, I wasn’t sure it would have awoken me. Loved when it did wake me up because I realized we were docking and eagerly jumped out of bed to watch the docking process from my balcony. Was disappointed the one morning it didn’t wake me up (Civitavecchia), but it was my last morning of the cruise and I stayed up way too late with new friends the night before, so that may have been the reason I slept through it. *g* I am generally a light sleeper, so I’m not sure heavier sleepers would wake up or not. Was stateroom a connecting stateroom? – No. Balcony View – Give comments on view, noting if location of any obstructions was an issue. – No obstructions at all. Last balcony on the starboard side so has a full view of the ship looking left from the balcony. Pretty awesome. Starboard side views were fantastic for my W Med cruise (Livorno, Cannes, Palma, Barcelona, Naples). Balcony Size? Normal or oversized for class? – Maybe slightly smaller for class, but still enough room for two chairs, a lounger, and a table while still allowing me room to practice yoga every morning in the empty space. Would book again in a heartbeat! Much bigger than the balcony next to me but smaller than the open balcony below me. Was wind a problem? – No. If an aft cabin, was soot a problem? – Not truly an aft cabin, but noticed no soot. Any specific problems with this cabin? – I had to leave it and return to the real world. *sigh* Any other comments? – The cabin layout is spacious and well organized. As I said above, I would book this room again in a heartbeat.

Since it is port side cabin the view is uninterrupted. The balcony could accommodate 2 loungers, but you do need to slant lounger to lay back flat. There was no wind which was fine at sea but it could be hot in port. No problems with cabin. We really enjoyed this cabin. The bathroom is spacious with separate shower and jet tub.
