My wife has spoken to Royal and she tells me you can use rewards for booked cruises.... Buy the package call Royal with the confirmation and they add it to your booking. Only 1 reward per reservation so choose carefully. Also you can buy the beverage package for 140000 pts and upgrade to premium for 100 on a 7 night... Not sure if all parties have to buy in.... Sent

Great news!! Does it have to be added by your TA if the existing reservation was booked through a TA?

New info I learned: Only 1 reward per cruise can be used. Also the OBC reward is not combinable with any other offer or promotion, including, but not limited to, Interline, Travel Agent, Travel Agent Friends and Family, weekly Sales Events, Net Rates, Crown & Anchor Discounts, Shareholder Benefits or Next Cruise offers, promotions, or benefits.

I'm out.

At least for redeeming on RC. I feel like I'd have to devote a good chunk of my life playing this for less gain than I'd get using C&A plus other promos.

Maybe in 10 years I'll have enough for a free drink in Vegas. ;)

If it's similar to redeeming Visa points, the TA would have to approve anything that changes the price of the cruise.

We booked online so not sure... As for all parties having to buy in to the program she was told no.. Frustrating thing is there is a separate number to have the rewards added to your reservation but they are closed today? Friends of ours sailing with us used their rewards for the casino and ha had it added to their reservation already.

I purchased awards from the beginning day of this promotion and find so far the % off awards are useless. The 40 and 50 percent off awards are for a very limited number of cruises (33) within the next six months or so and many of the cabin categories are sold out or definitely least desirable cabins. I am attempting to call today to see what the real discount is on the 35% off rate since others on myVegas forums posted that the rate they were given was 35% off the full (normal) rate and not the currently published rate on line such as the 1st traveler is full fare and the 2nd travels at 1/2 price. Will hopefully get an answer this morning.

How about if you just added the package and then upgraded it onboard?

maybe others will have better luck, just got off the phone and they said that it had to be a new individual booking, so couldnt apply it to cruise I have in October, they have you call Club Royale (RCCL casino) at 1-888-561-2234, he tried to add it but the system wouldnt allow, it was for the select beverage package, hope others are able to work it out!

What number is everyone calling to redeem the rewards? I called RCI's main number and I got transferred to 3 different departments ultimately for the person to tell me I need to call my TA . I called my TA and they tried to redeem it through RCI with the information I gave them and RCI doesn't know how to redeem it. New stuff is so frustrating when it first rolls out.:rolleyes:

pretty much the same here, but they did tell us it would only be a $100 upsell to get the premium package. Because we were told that we cashed in the 140,000 reward points I have on my FB...

Just as information, presuming these awards work the same as any other MyVegas reward - if for some reason you find you cannot use an award you purchased you can call MyVegas and cancel it and get your points back. I mention this just in case RCI can't figure out how this stuff works and/or is giving out bad information about being able to use a reward on a currently booked cruise. I love the idea of MyVegas, but using the rewards can be so confusing. And they don't always follow their own rules. For example, on my last trip to Vegas I had enough points for 3 mid-week stays at Mirage, but the website said I could only use one per trip. Got to Vegas, went to check in, and the desk clerk tells me people use three rewards all the time - they just redeem them separately and then Mirage combines them when they check in. Wish I had known that ahead of time! Also, since that is not technically the rules I can never be 100% sure it would work that way next year when I go! Oh well. As I am one who would never, ever actually buy chips to play I guess I can't complain too much about something for nothing:)

That is a good reminder that you can request coin credits back for any unused rewards. I actually did with a reward I redeemed and didn't use while in Vegas...and I think there was an option in the MyVegas reward game to do so without emailing.

I'm a little confused why this thread was moved to the casino thread...I realize it is about gambling, but it is really a specific RCI reward through the application and with the partnership with RCI and MLife. Not a big deal, but I would have never gone to the casino page so I'm glad I responded first while it was on the RCI main page.

I agree, this should probably be in the RCI board.

We purchased the 50% off award and looking at the cruises and the prices, kind of sad that it's not really that good of a deal. Typically the kind of prices this award will get you are prices that are available during cruise sales or special travel agent deals. We're going to be returning this award and using our hard-earned points for something else.

We really feel kind of bait-and-switched. We thought we were going to get 50% off the prices listed on the page, but when we called to book the discount was more like 10% off the prices listed (sometimes only 5%!). Not a good deal at all!

Here's my recent experience. I snagged a $200 OBC and was (hoping) to apply it to an upcoming cruise, but it is only for new bookings (just like the Terms state, lol).

I had to call Costco (my booking TA) and they had to call the RCI/casino services to find out the information. I was told (for future reference) that these rewards cannot be combined with WOW offers, but that they could be combined with senior/resident rates. I was also told that its ONE redemption of any kind per cabin. I hope it would be one per passenger esp if your partner plays myVegas, but at this point, its one per cabin.

We have pre-purchased beverage packages and then upgraded them onboard, so I know the upgrade can be done. (They had us go to a bar though, not to the tables set up near Guest Services.)

Once the package is added to a reservation, I don't see why they wouldn't take money to upgrade it!

that is good to know and will first see if they will even accept the regular package...doesn't matter if we upgrade now or unboard, just trying to make sure there is a way of doing this with all the aggravation. We will try tomorrow.

And yes, like others, this should 100% be on the Royal board where others may find it useful..and it is not just a Casino topic so not sure why it was stuck here

I used loyalty points for the 40% off, and have never gotten an email from MyVegas, I filed a support ticket 2 days ago and still nothing. Do the instructions here for the OBC work for the 40% off and odes anyone know if it is worth it.

Any more updates from anyone trying to use the rewards?

yeppers, and we were given misinformation the first time around from the clowns at Royal. We were told we could use my reward points to book the beverage package, and that we can upgrade at anytime. My Vegas took my points off, and when we went to reserve this with Royal they said sorry, it is for NEW bookings only. My wife fought with them over and over, but got nowhere. They said sorry and that they would add some goodies to our room (ie. robes, etc) but who really cares? We were lied to...

We will call again tomorrow to see if the pts can be put back on my account and see if we can at least use them for casino credit which we should as friends of ours already got!
