If NCL offered completely non-smoking cruises, would you book?

I wonder if NCL ever looked into having specific cruises be 100% non-smoking? If they did:

1. Would you book one?

2. Would you be willing to pay a premium to book a cruise that was 100% smoke-free?

book one yes, pay a premium absolutely no, but I will add one thing, Carnival tried this, it didn't work. I think the problem is; there are still enough smokers that often even a couple have one that smokes. I am sure the time is coming when we will see Non smoking cruises, but it is probably a few years away.

As far as "" there are smokers out there" newmexicoNita # 783~~~ I think it depends a L O T on which cruise line you choose to use..... One of the reasons I only sail with CUNARD is that so few smoke. It costs more, its more elegant, and its absolutely worth it if you like clean air to breathe.

No, and no. While I don't smoke personally, I often travel with people who do. There are very few areas where you can smoke onboard to begin with, so as long as people are following the rules, I see no reason it should adversely affect non-smoking guests.

I feel about the same way and when there is a large group going together, even say 10, it is likely there will be a smoker or two. We travel with our foster daughter and her wife from time to time, they are both smokers. We have traveled on a family cruise a couple of times, with them and with others. There are usually one or two other, not just foster daughter that do smoke. Now if traveling with only hubby, as I said earlier today, I would book a non smoking ship but would not pay more.

I am NO on both counts because I am tired of government and their regulations demanding what I and the members of my family do.

Just like the water threads.

What's next?.....NO alcohol or limited because it causes problems and it does stink.

How about perfume?....Kids?....

They can try, as other ships have tried, but the government loves and are addicted to the taxes.

Just look at the cigarettes they sell onboard? How large the space is.

Then there is the cigar lounge....Seems peoples right to enjoy themselves are being taken away bit by bit.

Don't go on an Asian cruise IF you expect NO smoking.

Celebrity which was once a thriving line, offers no smoking, except in a tiny area and now they have a smaller cut of the supply of passengers and only built 2 new ships in 2014 as they sell off the older ones.

I believe the ships have done a pretty decent job of curbing smoking within, and about the ship, but until smoking is eliminated completely in the World, it won't happen.

Perhaps they could build another casino in another area as a test or put in better air control.

I have only found that the smoke is heavy in the morning where they gather for that first smoke of the day when I go take a look. the evening smoke is not very noticeable on the NCL ships I have cruised on.

I understand what you are saying, I too am tired of the government telling me what I can and can not do, but a private business, that is difference. I think any business has the right to make any rules they want, if we do not like the rules we can go somewhere else. I am also a bit tired of non smokers seeming to have an attitude that they are a little smarter and a little better than smokers.

I don't use the casinos. Otherwise, smoke hasn't been a bother to me elsewhere on any of the ships. Although I don't like smelling smoke, a brief whiff or encounter won't give me lung cancer I don't think and just doesn't upset me.

Actually it can. Read the CDC reports.

All the cruise lines need to do, is to build & design the casino better, with a good ventilation systems. Allow the gamblers to smoke but exhaust it right out of the room.

Also, I should note that there is perfectly adequate technology available for NCL to create clean air spaces even in casinos. According to what I read here, they have chosen not to use it, so we will reduce their cash flow because we cannot tolerate smoke. That seems like a poor business choice on their part, especially considering that we now know some cruise lines DO offer smoke-free space. That's likely where we will book next.

No there is not...

Nobody is taking away anyone's right to sail or even mentioned taking away anyone's right to smoke....because there isn't one.

Smokers can always not smoke on sea days and on port days, exit the ship and smoke like a chimney in the designated smoking areas.

Once they get their fix, smokers can return to the ship.

There is no RIGHT to sail or RIGHT to smoke.

As I said, casino can be non smoking, or better system installed. We were in Wynn casino in Vegas (smoking casino) and there were no smell at all.

Everything can be resolved with some effort. I bet smokers will agree not to smoke in casino rather than muss a cruise all together.

As for smoking in ports, we'll it doesn't work like that. It's not possible to smoke in advance. :)

It is not the smell that kills.

I still have trouble accepting the second hand smoke stuff: I think of all the years almost everyone smoked, we exposed our kids to second hand smoke, we smoked in our cars and homes and yet how many people really ever develop lung cancer? I know 3 people who have, only one was a smoker. I know you are probably thinking: what about heart trouble? Good question, again; most people who develop heart trouble usually have a history of it in the family or are much older. After a certain age, we are all going to get something; our bodies just wear out.

this is not to put you or anyone else down; I don't like the smell of smoke either, but I don't buy the second hand smoke business. Just my opinion.

Of course sine the earth is flat and the sun revolves around the earth!

Smokeless meaning good smoke removing capabilty or no smoking allowed? No smoking allowed in casino-I wouldn't cruise on that ship.

Except there is no such thing as a good smoke removing capability.

How does smoking affect others? In my case burning eyes, a very sore throat and generally feeling like I am getting a cold. Miserable!

Fortunately I don't gamble and I can avoid the casino but for those that want to enjoy the casino it would he impossible for people that's sensitive to smoke!

I'm not denying your stats. But there is a huge difference between briefly being next to someone smoking outside vs a more prolonged exposure indoors like living with someone.

Non smokers are not the ones who intentionally practice an activity that they know has a high probability of causing them serious health issues or death. I am not sure if that is being smarter or not though.

I didn’t say there was a “no risk-free” level of secondhand smoke exposure.
