We didn't think that our white hibiscus plant would bloom this year but it did. This flower appeared yesterday.

It looks like there are a few more buds on it.

We cruised to Bermuda in the beginning of August, and DW commented that there were many fewer Hibiscus than we are used to seeing. Maybe it was a time that they trimmed them back? It was surprising.

There are. I hope they bloom but with all the rain we are to get over the next four days, the buds may just drop off.

We cut ours back each fall once they turn brown.

Well I was up at Disney World again for the weekend that falls on this post's date range, so here are a few snaps from Disney World and vicinity:

Nothing hits the spot better than an ice-cold tiki bar tropical drink on a super-hot muggy afternoon. This is a 'cool headed monkey' at Jock Lindsay's Hangar Bar:

Pictured here is the Portland Head Light. Located in Cape Elizabeth, Maine, it was first lit in January, 1791. It's Maine’s oldest lighthouse and is still a working navigational beacon maintained by the US Coast Guard. Looking at the historical structure lit by the first light of a new day, there is no visible clue that a vast installation belonging to a secret government agency is hidden hundreds of feet beneath its ruggedly beautiful setting. Built to survive a nuclear war, the Lighthouse’s existence is one of the agency’s best kept secrets. As a fan of Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., I’m privy to this sort of top secret information. Or not. Even if it’s just a lighthouse, it’s still real pretty after 227 years.
