In a couple of weeks we will be staying in a two bedroom grand suite on Mariner. I have never stayed in a suite class higher than JS, and we are really excited. What are some suite perks that I should be sure to take advantage of? We pre-purchased our beverage package already too.

Show up at the suite gathering - it's usually a pretty nice party. Order from room service (the MDR dinner) on a night when you are too lazy for the MDR.

My wife and I were in a GS on the Mariner only a week ago. There was no suite gathering. Apparently, they no longer are holding them on 3 and 4-night cruises.

The best perks that they still have on the Mariner are breakfast at Chops, admittance to the Suite Lounge (only important if you are not eligible for admission to the Diamond Club) and the reserved seating at the Ice Show. The Ice show on the Mariner is marvelous and the reserved seats are well located and save you the need to wait on line at the entrance to Studio B before the doors open. My wife and I also enjoyed the breakfasts at Chops while on the Mariner. Indeed, that breakfast was the only perk that mattered to us because we are Diamond Plus and were eligible for those reserved seats regardless of what kind of room we booked. For those of us who are diamond and above, the drinks and appetizers at the Suite Lounge are the same as the ones at the Diamond Club, although the furniture at the Suite Lounge is a little nicer. While the Suite perks are important on longer cruises, especially on Oasis and Quantum Class ships, IMHO the reason to book a suite for a short cruise on an older ship like the Mariner is for the room itself, not for the perks. The extra space and the large veranda with lounge chairs are the reasons my wife and I booked a GS for our September 10 cruise on the Mariner.

Thank you! I don't think we will be going to the Ice Show- We are a group of seven late 20s early 30s guys (4 in the suite, 3 in a JS) - so we will mostly be in the casino and the bars. Glad to hear the suite itself is nice though.

Some perks you guys may like - the bathroom has 2 sinks and is pretty big. So 2 people can actually get ready at the same time - 3 if you throw someone in the shower who doesn't care if someone else is in there. Shower/tub is full size. Lots of drawer space so you will all be able to have your own section. Big balcony if you wanted to have breakfast out there or just chill. At the end of the cruise, the concierge can escort you off ship so you'll beat the chaos and the crowd. Breakfast in Chops is great - away from the insanity of the Windjammer.

We were in 2 bedroom grand suite on the Navigator last year. There were only two of us and the extra space was nice. The only problem was the soot on the balcony and the lounge chairs were wet each morning. Breakfast in Chops is good and being able to take lunch from the Windjammer into Chops ensures you can always find somewhere to sit. There is a coffee machine in the concierge lounge so you can get latte or whatever anytime.

You should be aware that the 3 people who are in the JS will not be allowed into the Suite Lounge or the breakfast at Chops. If the group is to stay together, you would have to forego those benefits.

We decided to try a GS on a short 5 day cruise to Bermuda a couple of years ago and were immediately hooked. I absolutely loved the Suites event, breakfast in Chops (or Giovanni’s, depending on the ship), being escorted off the ship directly to your luggage in a much more convenient area, and all the other benefits listed. After 9 cruises in GS, we decided to scale back a bit and save some money. My Alaska cruise last month was in a JS (still nice), but have a couple of longer cruises coming up in a balcony. We’ll see......
