I would think a bottle of gin via room service would not be cheap.
Are you flying direct to Singapore? If so why not purchase a bottle at the duty free shop at the airport of your departure?

Hi,yes we are connecting at Doha which is as cheap as chips, but Singapore only allow 1 bottle each to bring in.Don't want to risk a public flogging or execution by smuggling more.lol,cheers,Brian.

I had not thought of bringing liquor on with us - is this something that is allowed? I know other lines have stopped it. I ask because DH likes to have a Scotch and some news watching while I am getting ready for dinner. His usual is to walk to a bar, order it, and walk back, or if feeling lazier ring it up from room service. For him to have a bottle of his favorite Scotch in the room with him, and a bucket of ice, would make his life much more joyful.

Cunard doesn't list Smirnoff on the room service menu but they have a litre of Stoli for $65+15% service charge, for a total of just under $75. Not exactly duty free prices.

Well, I think your DH will be very happy, as bringing on your own spirits/wine, is certainly allowed by Cunard. Again, you can also do this this at ports of call.

Hi,I think Cunard will price themselves out of the market. They are a mass market brand charging premium prices.Watch out for Thomson they are upgrading ships, offer AI packages and have improving itineraries, cheers,Brian.

Although I've never cruised with Thomson, I wouldn't have thought of putting the line in the same bracket as Cunard. Ever.
How would you say the on-board experiences compare at the moment, pre any upgrading of the Thomson brand? Do you think the brand really will be able to compete with Cunard for their passengers? I don't.

That seems a bit of a stretch over the price of room service spirits when you are allowed to take your own on board !

I don't know if I'm imagining this, as we never bother buying bottles of duty free stuff on-board so the fleeting glance I gave to the blurb might have been too fleeting and I've got it wrong, but I do seem to faintly remember duty free offers being allowed back to the cabin, on QE in the summer.
Maybe someone will be able to corroborate this or tell me I'm having a ''misremembering'' moment.

Hi,we sail for itineraries and have been lucky to achieve platinum on Princess whilst ticking off the bucket list. Our last cruise was P&O Aurora, mainly for India, not impressed with that line.Next year we are on QE mainly for Africa.Later we are on Discovery 2 mainly for former Yugoslavia ports. So will compare then but not a good start with that astronomical price for a bottle of voddy.Hope you are right in your second post and I am ranting prematurely, lol, cheers,Brian.

On board 'duty free' spirit purchases are delivered to your cabin the last night of the cruise, so you can whoop it up the last night if you wish.

However, On a T/A from Venice a couple of years back, I bought some at a duty free on land and carried it back aboard.

That was after a crossing where my bar was not restocked by Cunard, and I was told by my 'snotty' butler that I would have to buy more. Though apparently that was not Cunard's policy, or it had reverted to restocking the bar.

In any event, I placed the purchase spirits in the closet, and when my tipple ran out in my Cunard stock, it was replaced, so I ended up with a surfeit of JWB on that crossing. More is better than less though.

Drink MAY be delivered to people in the grill, this I do not know, but for other grades of accommodation, you are given a time and day when you have to go and pick up your order.

I did it only one time, and at the time the Cunard "duty free" price was far more than the airport duty free, but it was Johnnie Walker Green, which was not available in the US at the time. It is now during the Christmas Holidays. And it was delivered, I didn't have to pick it up.

You can buy duty free into Singapore, then buy a fresh one to take on the voyage. Sounds good to me. Maybe one for you and one for your spouse and you will be good to go.
