One evening in Victoria

Recommended Posts

We will be visiting Victoria on September 29 for a short stop. We arrive at 5 pm and leave at midnight. Not much time, but we do like to visit pubs and hear live music. Does anyone have any recommendations or pointers for us?

If the music is the more important element, Bard & Banker is easily found and offers it 7 nights a week. It's a nice space, very Fake Scottish Pub, with a decent range of local and imported beers.

If the beer's more important, then Swan's Brewpub is my pick. Not only do they make excellent British style beers, but they actually have a second cellar set at the correct temperature for drinking beer (8-10Celsius) so it tastes even better. Of course there's a regular North American 'far too cold to appreciate the finer flavours but hey there really aren't any in this macro-lager anyway' 4C cellar for those raised outside the True Faith;-)

My picks would be the Drake for beer or the Churchill. With the Churchill giving you among the biggest selection of local beer in town.

Can't help with the live music as we tend the go places where we can still have a conversation.

Enjoy our town :)
