WORLD CRUSE on SOJOURN in 2020

Just notified by travel agent that the Sojourn will sail on a world cruise from Jan. 4, 2020 to May 28, 2020....Miami to San Francisco. Last Seabourn world cruise was five or six years ago. Checked Seabourn web site, but no info posted yet.

This is very intriguing but, I'm curious, what do you do about travel insurance. Seabourn Shield is limited and most travel insurance companies won't insure for this long of a trip.

That is something I'd get my travel agent to search out. It is in their interests if they want the booking. We are doing the Silversea version in 2019 and had no difficulty in coming up with travel insurance, at a price of course, for the just short of 6 months we'll be away. We are using QBE but it is an Australian company. I'd be sure there will be other companies in other markets.

I got an email from my TA a few hours after posting. They're offering much higher OBC than the amounts quoted here. Looking forward to seeing the prices.

I don't think I'll be able to take a WC in 2020 but I'm glad to see that it's back with those amenities and my next opportunity will be 2022 so fingers crossed SB offers one then.

 

 

 

 

As an aside, I don't care for the itinerary of this WC so even if my schedule did allow it, I don't think I'd bite this time.

Yes, depending on the prognosis.

We also have medical insurance that covers us worldwide and if evacuation is done by a medically equipped vehicle, we're covered for that too. What we don't have is trip cancellation and interruption. For a trip this long and expensive I would want that coverage. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to find anyone in the US that will just provide that coverage. It's always packaged with medical so we would bite the bullet and buy the whole package. It's just hard to find a company in the US that will insure for periods in excess of 60 days and for more than $50K per person.

What is the itinerary? Is it on Seabourn website yet? How about the price?

Thanks for posting the itinerary. Seems to be a lot of sea days and a lot of ports we have already been to. That is not necessarily a bad thing, just an observation.

Too many repetitive ports and travels are East to West, so lots of lost hours. Most WCs travel West to East. Only way East to West works is if you can convince Captain to set clocks ahead in the afternoon like I was able to on the Sojourn in May 2017.

Setting clocks back in the afternoon is better but losing an hour every day or so still messes with your body clock. We just got back from an Asian cruise and went east to Vancouver. We had a horrible time sleeping at night. Nope, traveling east is not for us either.

Very intriguing. Can't wait to see the prices which might completely drain my IRA. We were on 2 segments of the 2014 World Cruise and hung out with many, many world cruisers who were having the time of their lives. It becomes a special community on Seabourn, making for a special experience. I will keep this idea and dream alive.

Very interesting, Silversea put out a prospective itinerary going East to West a couple of years ago, and after an uproar from the then travelling World Cruisers changed it completely and back to West to East. It’s good to see Seabourn doing a World Cruise again.

Prices for the 2020 WC are now showing on the SB website, at least on the UK version so assume on others too.

Released a few days earlier than SB originally said.

Prices are posted for the US as well, and they are high. No bargains. I'll continue to monitor this as this is a dream vacation for us, but at this point, even with some discounts, it's way too much money for us. Still open to the idea, though.

Hi Nomads...I will keep this dream alive. We do have a good TA who fights for the best deals and price drops. And we are no the Quest in November for South America/Antarctica, so I will chat with the folks in Seabourn Sq. about this WC. Right now cannot commit to this much money and time, but as I just wrote, the dream is alive. Best to you 2...TV
