Leaving the ship the day before „official“ disembarkation

Our cruise will end in Hongkong staying overnight there. As flights to Europe leave about midnight, we intend to leave the ship the night before. Will Silversea organanize unloading the luggage at the evening and help us deboarding? Any experiences?

Our 18-day Spirit cruise last November-December ended with an overnight in Dubai. A number of passengers left the ship on the last full day and night. Didn’t stay up and out to see how late some left that night but ate dinner at La Terrazza outside and a lady in the table next to us was getting off at 10 PM to go to the airport for a flight. Actually wish we’d done that as we got off the next morning and got a room for basically the day leaving the hotel at 10:30 PM for a 1:30 AM flight. Wasn’t actually poor planning as we’d initially planned on meeting up with friends’ daughter in Dubai and made our arrangements accordingly. Unfortunately friends dropped out of the cruise because of a serious health issue with the daughter but we had fixed flights by that time and couldn’t change.

We left a 29 day Spirit cruise five days early (in Maui) vs in Los Angeles. Silversea made all the arrangements seamlessly. One of the tender crew helped us load our luggage in the taxi and we made our way to the Maui airport.

Did you get any reduction? Or did you still have to pay up for the full cruise?

We will be on a cruise which ends with an overnight about 15 minutes drive away from home. We intend to go home to collect the car *and park it by the ship overnight, ready to disembark the following morning. I will be so happy not to have to face an end of cruise flight. We might even take our cases off when we arrive and enjoy the last night w/out the dark packing cloud over us

Rp

* actually I have volunteered OH to do that- not sure he realises it yet.

Joolsverne, no reduction--our leaving five days early cost us nearly $6k not to mention the air fare changes/$$ spent we had to make going home to Atlanta from Maui vs LA. However, in our view the late nite entertainment on this 29 day voyage was atrocious. Both my wife and I spoke to the CD and HD--no change. For us, our time is more valuable than staying on a ship that has awful late nite entertainment--so we left the cruise five days/nites early.

Please understand, we had five sea days crossing the Pacific ocean from Hawaii to Los Angeles. So, Late Nite entertainment would have been crucial to our enjoyment.

The good news is the CD on the Spirit on our cruise was let go shortly after our cruise. . And the HD is now (a year+ later) no longer with Silversea.

Rosepark..how wonderful for you!.

My DH hates flying, so he’s always promoting cruises that end at our home port of Vancouver. He doesn’t mind flying to catch the ship, but feels the best way to really have the best residual from the cruise is to be able to just go straight home and not have all that relaxation ruined by airport, customs, etc.

Absolutely no problem, just let the front desk or your Butler know.

It also works the other way. On several occasions we have been unable to join the ship on it's scheduled date of departure and have joined the ship at it's next port.

Costs you a few thousand but the crew does treat you like royalty when you join en-route and all the details are taken care of.
