Singapore and Bangkok Hotels on Hotel Point Stays

We will be traveling to Singapore, and spending two nights before boarding a cruise. After the cruise we have one additional night we could spend in Singapore, or in Phuket. We then will fly to Phuket and stay at a Marriott timeshare for one week. After the timeshare week we are going to fly to Bangkok and have four nights in Bangkok.

We have Hotel Points with Marriott, Hilton, and IHG hotels. We would like to use points for our hotel stays. Can anyone recommend hotels in Singapore and in Bangkok which are in a good location and where we could try and book using points.

Thanks in advance for your help.

It really depends where you want to stay in Bangkok. Last visit we used our Marriott points for a stay at the Renaissance on Ploenchit Road. We liked the location.

We have been to Bangkok several times but seldom use our hotel points. Four/Five star hotels are relatively inexpensive in Bangkok compared to other locations. We tend to save our points for stays in areas with high costs and high add on VAT such as Australia and parts or Europe and the US.

We just finished shopping for a hotel in Singapore. Booked the Ibis Bancoolen. We belong the to Accor program as well and they had a very good deal. As I recall, the cost of a Singapore Marriott hotel was minimum 35000 points for a central local. Not certain about Hilton since we do not find their program as good as Marriott. Not doing any business travel since retiring either so that put a damper on the points.

Iancal, thank you for your reply. We will take a look a the Marriott Renaissance. May look at the Ibis Bancoolen as well, that was recommended on another forum. Not familiar with the areas in either Singapore or Bangkok so it makes picking a hotel more difficult.

Renaissance is a few blocks from Siam Square. It is close the to rapid transit and it is close to the canal, where you can get a boat to some parts of the city. Many people like to stay closee to the river. This was not a priority for us as it was third visit. We have also stayed at the Novatel Ploenchit a few blocks away. They had a great three day pre pay offer for Accor members that we could not pass up w/ a fabulous breakfast.

Our Bangkok flights are generally early in the AM. We have typically stayed at either Best Western Ameranth or At Residence (we prefer the latter) on the night prior. We leave our bags at our Bangkok hotel, then return after dinner and cab to the airport hotel.
