San Gervasio in Cozumel?

We're heading to Cozumel on the Fantasy in March, and want to basically just get to the ruins, see them for a bit, then head back. The Disney excursions to the bigger ruins are just too much travel time for us, and the other excursions to San Gervasio are all linked to other stuff. Is it feasible to get a cab at the cruise port, pay for them to wait for us at the ruins, and take us back? Does that work? I'm just worried about getting stranded even though we'll go pretty early on in the day.
