Edge Bars and Lounges: The Familiar, the New and the Missing

I was looking at the Bars and Lounges and noticed some familiar venues, some new ones and some potentially missing venues (descriptions from Celebrity, not me :D).

The Familiar:

Martini Bar: Behind an inviting, attention-getting bar, flair bartenders dazzle with gravity-defying skill as they craft creative cocktails.

Café Al Bacio: Settle into comfortable seating underneath a stunning glass art installation, and refuel with delicious specialty coffees and treats to satisfy your sweet tooth.

Pool Bar: Enjoy refreshing drinks poolside and be mesmerized by an ever-changing mirror installation that shines day and night.

Sunset Bar: Watch the world go by with a cocktail in hand as live pop and folk tunes play. With a casual country club atmosphere, it’s the perfect place to soak in spectacular views.

Theater Bar: Theatre placement not announced so location pending for bar.

Casino Bar: Raise a glass as you roll the dice during an exhilarating night at the casino onboard Celebrity Edge.

Il Secondo Bacio: Specialty coffees and freshly squeezed juices located within the Oceanview Café.

The New:

Retreat Lounge (Michael's Club on M and S Class at present time): Exclusive to Suite Class guests, and open 24/7 for beverages, gourmet bites and live entertainment.

Retreat Pool Bar: Suite Class guests enjoy exclusive access to the indulgent, inviting Pool Bar with private cabanas and plush loungers.

The Club: Keep the party going late into the night at The Club. Dance to your heart’s content and lounge in a sumptuous, modern seating area.

Eden Bar: Your senses are in for a tantalizing new treat. At Eden Bar, the Library of Plants is a living wall where fresh ingredients and garnishes are hand-picked for artisanal cocktails. It’s all a part of the chillful, playful, sinful Eden experience.

? Magic Carpet Bar: They didn't list this in the announcement, but they have said that the MC would have a bar when on deck 14: "Down to Deck 14, Magic Carpet becomes an extension of the already expansive relaxing main pool area, the perfect place for breathtaking views, tantalizing libations, and live music."

The Missing:

Cellar Masters:

I noticed that Cellar Masters or a comparable wine venue is not listed or on the deck plans (not yet anyway). I am wondering if they left it out on the Edge because this is part of the description for Eden:

"All of our culinary and beverage enrichment classes which include wine tasting, Blendtique, Mixology 101 and hands-on culinary classes will be available on Edge and hosted in Eden."

Looking at the wine lists in each restaurant, they did seem to expand the wine choices. This was part of the Culinary announcement:

"On Celebrity Edge, even Celebrity’s award-winning wine list is being pushed to the edge, with the list expanding from roughly 350 offerings to 500 total. The expansion is the result of the brand curating a new Ancient World wines list, which will include unique and unexpected sourcing from destinations like Israel, Turkey, and China, as well as more obscure offerings from India and countries in Eastern Europe."

Gastrobar:

None of the announced venues appear to have a good selection of craft beers yet (or maybe I missed it). Not sure how well the Gastrobar/pub has fared on the S Class ships so maybe they will just offer craft beers in other venues.

Passport Bar:

Remains to be seen if there is going to be a bar on deck 3, but there are some blank spaces on 3.

Ensemble/Rendezvous Lounge:

Maybe The Club will replace those venues?

Sky-Lounge type lounge on 14 or 15:

Forward space on those decks hasn't been announced, so it remains to be seen if there will be a lounge up there.

World Bar:

It seems like the Eden Bar will be similar.

Here are some pictures of ones that have been announced:

I'm not sure that the bar/lounge announcements are complete as it seems there would be a Sky-lounge type venue on the upper decks and maybe a bar on deck 3?

Maybe there will be more info on March 22nd. :D

Very exciting...new and fresh looks all over!

Thanks for posting!

I agree with you! When the staterooms were first revealed, I wasn't impressed - they are attractive, but look a bit sterile to me. I went back and actually looked at the interior designs of the restaurants, bars and lounges and I really like the direction they have gone with design. To me they are not over-the-top glitzy, but most are tasteful and welcoming.

The pictures of places that really make me want to go there are:

Blu, Cyprus, Normandie, Le Grand Bistro Café al Bacio, Eden Bar and Sunset Bar. Luminae and the Retreat are attractive, but look less warm and welcoming to me (but hope they will be).

Will need to see what things look like in person, but I do like what I have seen so far.

There will not be a Sky lounge on EDGE. Eden is the equivalent space for this ship and serves as a multi use venue through the day and evening hours, much in the way 270 replaced the Viking Crown on Quantum/Anthem.

That makes sense.

You don't think so? I'm still hoping there will be.

There are still two glass enclosed, forward facing public spaces not revealed yet. One on Deck 14 which I think will obviously be the spa. Another on Deck 15 which I'm not so sure about. It's adjacent to the suites but I don't think it will be a suite only area as all their areas have already been revealed. That means one of three possibilities. It's either a Sky Lounge (which I'm hoping), a second level to the spa, or something completely different. Hopefully we find out soon enough.

Early press releases indicated the spa would be on two levels and the largest in the fleet. It will also include the gym as well. I suspect that X will expand the Persian Garden/ relaxation room concept to be a more comprehensive facility in response to the success NCL has experienced with their massive thermal suites on the "Away"class vessels. This could occupy a significant part of the forward facing space, as could the gym.

A forward-facing venue for all would be nice - there needs to be another bar with music and dancing, IMO.

There is a huge two story venue on decks 4/5 just aft of the forward elevator bank labeled as "The Club". I expect this will be like the "Music Hall" on the Quantum class and feature a variety of live music, late night disco and other events.

I don't remember reading that, but sounds exciting. If the Persian Garden is expanded, it would be a nice benefit for AQ.

I wonder if they will put the kids' program on one of those decks?

Forward facing views are prime real estate, so I doubt they will be dedicated to kids areas. Either a two level spa or perhaps the spa and a Sky Room, or maybe some new concept combining both? I’m still hoping for a forward facing observation lounge.

One reason Celebrity and Royal Caribbean haven’t gone with the large thermal suites with T-Pool like NCL is because both lines offer the adult only Solarium. It of course has a pool of its own. Since EDGE will also have a Solarium with pool I’m not sure having another pool in the thermal suite will make sense. There will be some kind of thermal suite though I’m sure (aka Persian Garden).

I stopped sailing RCI before the Quantum class sailed so haven't experienced the Music Hall. I remember on the Oasis and Allure they had a two story music venue, Dazzles?, which we enjoyed, depending on the events, but sounds like the Music Hall is a bigger venue.

Will look forward to seeing what Edge music venues will hopefully be revealed in a couple of days.

I also would miss not having any kind of sky lounge. It's quiet in there during the day way from the hustle and bustle outside on the pool decks. when it's super hot sometimes I just pop in there real quick to cool off and decompress. not to say I couldn't use the retreat for that, but I don't know that we will always be sailing in a suite and there will for sure be many more people in there than in the sky lounge.
